Tree House Brewing gets nod from Sandwich selectmen despite neighbors’ concerns (April 18) -Founders of the Tree House Brewing Co. were inundated by concerns from their soon-to-be neighbors during a virtual license hearing Thursday evening. “I do think this is all exciting,” said Pam Arrighi, a resident who lives a few doors down from the proposed new Tree House Brewing Co.. NWI Business Ins and Outs: Craft brewery, coffee shops, French bakery, pizzeria, and wellness center open (April 18) – The much-anticipated BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, a family-friendly brewpub chain that specializes in a California version of Chicago pizza, is slated to open across from the Southlake Mall in Hobart on April 26. Executive Assistant Jennifer Greninger said the 8,000-square-foot restaurant will seat about 250 diners and have a covered patio. It will employ 165 workers. Complete Story.

Oxford Brewing Company gets its first beer in the bottle and out the door (April 18) – The Oxford Brewing Company is perhaps Grand Forks’ smallest brewery, since it is located in the former Sof-Teez Soft Ice Cream Shop on North 20th Street. It’s now up and running and supplying local restaurants and residents with what the owners are calling an “easy to drink beer.” Complete Story.

Brewed Together: Local breweries team up to release new beer (April 17) – A brewery on Broad Street opened its doors Friday afternoon to reveal a new flavor that’s been in the works for months. A team of local brewers dubbed the Tri-Cities Brewer Collective launched a collaborative beer called the TriLocal 7 – Belgian Triple at Bays Mountain Brewing Company. Deadwood’s only brewery, Jacob’s Brewery, to open this summer (April 17) – Construction on Deadwood’s one and only brewery is finishing up. The family-owned, Jacob’s Brewhouse, is excited to open its doors to the public this summer. Not only is Jacob’s Brewhouse a restaurant. It’s a bakery, vrbo, and soon, a brewery. “We were going to be a brewhouse originally, which means that we carry a lot of local beers, and then we realized that there really is no brewery up here in Deadwood, so well why not be the first?” Scott Jacobs, owner, said. Hollywood producers ready for their premiere in the brewery business (April 17) – For this Hollywood couple, there’s no business like the brewery business. Emmy-winning producers Ben and Whitney Wallace plan to open Lawless Brewing Co., a new multi-level brewery in North Hollywood, on April 27. “We’re inspired by the tradition of brewing but not bound by it. So we’re brewing some off the wall things that you might now have tried,” said Ben Wallace, who along with his wife work as producers on the long-running show “Entertainment Tonight.” Complete Story.

Flying Ace Brewery, Distillery Opens in Taylorstown (April 16) – Flying Ace Distillery & Brewery opened Thursday near the village of Taylorstown. Visitors to the 55-acre working farm property can taste Flying Ace’s eight different types of beer, three types of bourbon and rum, in addition to food from Chef Erik Foxx. Marble Brewery celebrates anniversary with a 420 party, sushi, beer pairing (April 16) – It has been 13 years since Marble Brewery opened. The brewery is celebrating its anniversary with small events during April. The brewery began with a sold-out beer and cheese pairing earlier this month and a $4 classic pint day for brewery club members. But the fun continues with a 420 celebration on Tuesday, April 20. Raise a pint: Worcester brewery helps raise money for ALS research (April 16) – Beer lovers across the country are raising a pint to raise money for Lou Gehrig’s disease research. “It’s something that’s inspired our team. They’ve taken great passion in writing the recipes, in brewing the beer,” Wormtown Brewery, co-owner David Fields said. The Worcester brewery was one of the first in Massachusetts to partner with the Ales for ALS program. Lou Gehrig’s disease, which is also called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, attacks motor neurons, cells that control the muscles. Complete Story.

Black-owned brewery Hippin’ Hops expanding to East Lake (April 13) – Georgia’s first Black-owned brick-and-mortar brewery Hippin’ Hops is expanding from East Atlanta to a second location in East Lake this summer. The East Lake Neighbors Community Association unanimously approved the business’s liquor license application at its monthly meeting on Monday. Neighborhood Planning Unit O will need to approve the application next at its meeting later this month before final approval with the city of Atlanta. Complete Story.

March Madness: The best brewery in Connecticut is… (April 13) – After over 10,000 individual votes over five rounds of voting, our March Madness competition has reached its conclusion. Roundhead Brewing Seeks to Become First Latino-Owned Brewery in Mass. (April 13) – Craig Panzer and Luis Espinoza met on the sidelines of their sons’ youth soccer game in 2019, both bonding over their mutual love of brewing and craft beer. Now almost two years later, the pair are launching a fundraising campaign to open what will be the first Latino-owned brewery in Massachusetts at Building 10 of 1 Westinghouse Plaza in Hyde Park. “I feel very proud of that,” said Espinoza. “I hope I can be an example for all the Latino brewers coming behind me.” Complete Story.

Number of Maine breweries grew during sobering year (April 11) – At a time of huge financial strain and unpredictability for American small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, including for brewers, the number of Maine breweries actually continues to grow. That is pretty remarkable. According to Maine Brewers’ Guild executive director Sean Sullivan, 15 new breweries have been licensed since the start of 2020. Complete Story.

NWI Business Ins and Outs: Craft brewery, T-shirt shop, Dairy Belle and Redamak’s open (April 11) – Blockhead Beerworks, the in-house brewery of the restaurant group behind Tomato Bar and Ricochet Tacos, took over the former Figure 8 space at 150 Washington St. on the courthouse square, where it serves a variety of craft beers and Asian fusion food as well as sushi rolls. How a brewery saved Historic Cold Spring Village (April 11) – “For a lifetime I’ve always been interested in history,” said Annie Salvatore. “Even more now with things changing all around us, it’s important that people see what life was like.” Annie and her husband, Joseph Salvatore, converted a plot of empty woods into Historic Cold Spring Village 40 years ago. Storms cause extensive damage to Pensacola brewery (April 10) – A brewery had its roof ripped off Saturday morning as strong storms moved across the area. Emerald Republic Brewing, which is right off of Barrancas Street at West Government and H Street, posted the following message to Facebook: “We woke up this morning to messages and calls about an apparent tornado or microburst that hit the front half of the brewery, ripping off most of our roof and causing extensive damage to property inside. Three Massive Breweries Are Betting Big on Mission Bay (April 10) – Before the pandemic, a slew of new restaurants and bars flooded into Mission Bay, a neighborhood cementing itself as a dining destination in the city. The Chase Center landed with the reverberating thud of a spaceship in fall 2019, and with the promise of Warriors games and concert crowds, eateries proliferated inside and out of the new stadium. Then COVID-19 hit, and the neighborhood went eerily quiet. Many of the restaurants that were lined up to open in Thrive City, the area just outside the stadium, never opened doors, while many in the surrounding neighborhood closed temporarily. Crooked Hammock Brewery Made a Fruity Pebbles-Inspired Beer (April 10) – If you’re like me and have been super hype about this year being the 50th anniversary for the PEBBLES cereal brand, you’re going to love this one. Though the brand has treated us to PEBBLES-flavored protein powder, a new Birthday Cake cereal, and both Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles ice creams, they have yet to officially release an alcohol-based variety. Berkshire Brewing Co. in South Deerfield receives OK to expand beer garden (April 8) – In anticipation of busier times ahead, Berkshire Brewing Co. (BBC) is looking to expand its beer garden to the back section of the brewery. The Deerfield Selectboard approved Bogoff’s request to expand the beer garden on Wednesday, following a public hearing on the topic. Complete Story.

Local brewery makes giving back to the community a priority (April 8) – A local District of Columbia brewery is coming up on its 10 year anniversary, and has spent the past decade prioritizing giving back to the community. Brandon Skall, D.C. Brau’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder said, “Giving back to the community has always been a focus point for us here.” It is a focus point that was not lost in all of the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Woman-owned brewery to open in Lisbon (April 8) – Lisbon will get its first brewery later this year when Olive Pit Brewing Co. opens, joining an explosion of craft beer breweries in Maine in recent years. Christy Cain, who lives in Lisbon with her wife, closed Wednesday on the 7,850-square-foot building at 16 Main St. Three existing second-story apartments will remain and Cain will create a brewhouse and tasting room in the former salon and spa space on the first floor. Narragansett Beer has a new brewer and Providence brewery with a view (April 7) – It won’t be long before the Narragansett Brewery opens, not just for the making of ‘Gansett, but also for the pleasure of it drinking it, too. Brewing company releasing new brew to celebrate women in craft beer industry (April 4) – On Friday, April 9, Rock God Brewing Company is releasing a hazy session IPA to support Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day 2021 and celebrate women in the craft beer industry.This new brew is called These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ after the rock song by Nancy Sinatra. The brewery names all of its drinks after rock songs.Along with the new beer, Homestead Barbecue food truck will provide wood-fired pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. Local brewery celebrates 5th anniversary despite pandemic hurdles (April 3) – Barrow Brewing Company in Salado kicked off celebrations for it’s 5th year in business. The micro-brewery opened on Royal Street in Salado in 2016 and has since become a fixture in the town. It was started by husband and wife duo Graydon and K.D. Hill. The brewery often hosts community events such as a weekly farmers market that runs every Saturday between April and September from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Co-owner K.D. Arkansas has ended its statewide mask mandate, so a brewery celebrated with a mask-burning event  (April 3) – After the Arkansas Governor lifted the COVID-19 statewide mandate and let business set their own coronavirus policies, one business couldn’t wait any longer. Customers gathered at the Fort Smith Brewing Company to burn their masks in celebration of the mandate being lifted. California tribe’s brewery serves beer with side of culture (April 3) – Rincon Reservation Road Brewery sits tucked next to Harrah’s Resort just north of San Diego, ready to serve up craft beer with a side of culture. This St. Pete craft brewery opened on the day everything closed (April 1) – James Coleman is proud of the beer business he’s built, even though it’s been a bit of a battle. Of course, the founder of Bayboro Brewing isn’t afraid of a good fight; he’s a proud Marine Corps veteran, serving from 2000 to 2004. “I went back to college and I got into digital marketing and that’s where I met Preston, our master brewer, if you will. A new brewery/restaurant is coming to the Village of Orchard Park (April 1) – The team behind The Grange Community Kitchen in Hamburg and West Rose in Ellicottville, along with PJ Dunn, formerly of Thin Man Brewery, is behind the project. Tomball brewery named Paradigm Brewing Company, opening late 2021 (March 31) – The owners of Tomball’s new brewery revealed its name this month after breaking ground at its new location at the Tomball Business and Technology Park in February. Brewery Nyx owner shares plans for Grand Rapids’ first gluten-free brewery (March 31) – On Wednesday, the owners of Brewery Nyx announced their plans to open in the city’s Roosevelt Park neighborhood. Fat Head’s Brewery releasing new version of Goggle Fogger (March 30) – Fat Head’s Brewery is releasing Grapefruit Goggle Fogger, a version of its award-winning German wheat beer. A-B-backed food company constructing $100 million facility at St. Louis brewery (March 30) – A new Anheuser-Busch backed company that turns the remnants of barley from brewing into protein and fiber supplements is putting nearly $100 million into a new production facility and headquarters on A-B’s St. Louis brewery campus. Gainesville brewery and food truck team up for Holi celebration (March 28) – Cypress and Grove Brewing Co. and Twisted Tikka teamed up to host their second Holi celebration. The Hindu holiday, also known as the festival of colors, marks the beginning of spring and is one of the largest holidays in India. 336 BIZ: Asheboro brewery strives to bring North Carolina community together (March 28) – If you’re a beer lover in the Piedmont Triad, there’s a good chance you’ve tried award-winning beer from Four Saints Brewing Company. ‘Friends’-themed beer debuting at San Antonio brewery (March 28) – If you’re an avid “Friends” fan, you’ll want to pivot over to this San Antonio brewery. Islla Street Brewing is releasing its “Friends Toast” brew on Monday, March 29. The flavor is an ode to the infamous trips of Monica, Ross, Joey, Rachel and Phoebe’s trips to Central Perk coffee cafe, as it’s a coffee stout “steeped with brioche, nutmeg, Mexican vanilla and finished with maple,” according to the brewery. Brewery LBK named best brewpub in United States (March 26) – At the beginning of the month, It was “The Brewery LBK” versus 19 others nation-wide. Deal to turn empty Waterford firehouse into brewery falls through, but village isn’t giving up on plan (March 25th) – Three years after deciding to turn an old firehouse into a brewery, village leaders are starting over again at trying to create a unique local attraction for beer lovers. Officials say a deal with a private group calling itself Waterford Brewing Co. has fallen through, forcing the village to solicit proposals from new would-be partners interested in the project. Mission Trail Brewery to tap into love of craft beers at grand opening Saturday in Socorro (March 25) – The craft brewery at 10179 Socorro Road will launch with seven beers on its opening menu: New England IPA, blonde, pomegranate ale, churro stout, 5C’s IPA, pecan porter and salted lime blonde. New brewery brings local flavor to Chanhassen (March 25) – The former Perkins building in downtown Chanhassen has been completely transformed. The interior is now filled with long tables, and enormous silver brewing tanks stand behind the countertop. After Surviving ‘Stressful’ First Year, Burning Bush Brewery Hosting Anniversary Party (March 24) – When Brent Raska opened Burning Bush Brewery last year, he was prepared for the challenges that come with a brand-new business. But he couldn’t have anticipated a global pandemic that shut down the city two weeks after his grand opening. To celebrate the anniversary of the brewery, 4014 N. Asheville brewer Burial Beer Co. brings taproom, bottle shop to popular Charlotte spot (March 24) – Asheville’s Burial Beer Co., has announced plans to open a taproom and bottle shop in Plaza Midwood. Dine 909: Inland Empire Brewing Company makes way for new brewery (March 24) – Inland Empire Brewing Company has closed, but it appears its replacement is already here.Founded in Riverside in 2009, Inland Empire Brewing Company was one of the longest-operating breweries here in the Inland Empire. Wacker’s Roadhouse opens in Willow Street; new taproom for historic Lancaster brewery (March 21) – Wacker Brewing Co. has opened a new taproom in Willow Street where it features barbecue and burgers alongside its own beer. Wacker’s Roadhouse at 312 Beaver Valley Pike is situated in a former warehouse on a lower lot at Lancaster Harley-Davidson that’s been renovated into a 90-seat taproom that includes a 12-seat bar and high-topped tables. Man hospitalized after he was shot near Pearl Brewery, police say (March 21) – A man is hospitalized after he was shot near the Pearl Brewery overnight, according to San Antonio police. The incident happened at 12:30 a.m., Sunday, on Pearl Parkway and Avenue B. Police said the man, 47, walked up to an off-duty police officer and asked for help. The man had a gunshot wound to his chest and claimed that two men walked up and attempted to rob him, according to officials. Complete Story.

Molson Coors says cyberattack hits shipments, brewery operations (March 12) – Molson Coors (NYSE:TAP), one of the world’s largest beer makers, has warned that a cyberattack is impacting shipments in addition to brewery operations and production.
