16 Mile Brewing Launches Its First Cold Brew Coffee, Jacked Up Java into the Market

May 1, 2018 by Dow Scoggins

GEORGETOWN, Delaware – 16 Mile Brewing Company will be introducing its first cold brew coffee, Jacked Up Java, at the first 16 Mile Farmers Market of the season on Wednesday, May 16.

“We begin brewing our cold brew coffee with a Peruvian bean with a medium roast, which allows the natural milk chocolate and nutty flavors of the bean to shine through. After steeping for 24 hours, the result is a delicious caffeinated beverage with no acidity, a creamy body, and a sweet finish,” explains 16 Mile owner, Brett McCrea.

“For years our company has focused on crafting ales with deep flavor profiles,” adds McCrea. “When my wife introduced me to cold brew coffee, I realized that this beverage would be a perfect addition to our menu. After experimenting on our own with different beans and roast levels, we were pleased to connect with Olivia Brinton and Joe Lin, the owners and roasting experts at Little Goat Roasting Company of Newark, Delaware. They have helped us select the best organic and ethically-sourced beans for our cold brew.”

16 Mile will offer the cold brew coffee over ice, straight and with all-natural infusion flavors including orange, strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Free samples and sales of the cold brew will begin on May 16 at 4 pm at the Farmers Market. After that it will be served on tap, weekdays from 7 to 11 am at the Gnarly Barley mobile tavern that will be setup on the brewery property. Beginning in June, Jacked Up Java will be available in 12 ounce glass bottles at the tavern and local retailers.

The 16 Mile Farmers Market will be held every Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the brewery, 413 South Bedford Street, from May 16 to September 19. The market will feature a wide variety vendors offering produce, meats, flowers, handmade products and desserts. Vendors will include: T.S. Smith, Lj’s Meats, Nevaeh Industries, Happy Panda Treats, Maebrook Produce, Van Auken Fudge, Fresh Flower Farm, Sand Hill Soaps and more. Also, a food truck will be serving during the market every week.

For visitors looking for a quick snack or carry-out dinner, delicious selections will be provided by:

Each week the market will provide a space for local musicians to share their tunes.

While everyone is welcome to enjoy the Cold Brew Coffee and their market purchases at the outdoor tables, only patrons 21 years of age or older may visit the 16 Mile Brewery and Tavern. Free parking is available. For everyone’s safety, 16 Mile requests that dogs remain at home or safely secured in vehicles. Visit “16milefarmersmarket” on Facebook for weekly updates.
