BALTIMORE, Maryland — The Partner Ships Series by Heavy Seas Beer will soon welcome its second collaboration in 2018, a Hoppy Wheat Ale with citrus brewed with NoDa Brewing Company of Charlotte, NC. This very limited, draft only release will be available in July.
“When deciding on what style to brew for this collaboration, there were a few core ideas: Hops. Summer. Fruit. This led us towards a hybrid style. Not quite IPA, not quite summer wheat, a Hoppy Wheat with Citrus Peel. We have a nice hybrid that is an extremely flavorful beer that will refresh both the hop lover and sunshine lover in general,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard.
This beer looks to Mosaic, Simcoe, and Azacca to have some nice synergy and create a very hop forward summer wheat. To compliment the fruity and tropical notes from the hops, grapefruit and tangerine peel are incorporated late in the brew in the hopback with Simcoe. American Wheat yeast will keep it clean and crisp, while allowing the hops to shine. A robust dry hop of the three hops in perfect ratio works to pull it all together.
The Partner Ships series features beers produced in collaboration with other regionally and nationally recognized brewers in the spirit of friendship, creativity, and adventure. For 2018, Heavy Seas is partnering with Right Proper Brewing Company, NoDa Brewing Company, and Jopen Beer to celebrate the pioneering spirit of craft beer today. The Partner Ships series is brewed at Heavy Seas Beer in Baltimore and will be available on draft only in 2018.
