Framingham, Mass. — Keeping our communities safe and protecting our most vulnerable is the most important thing we can do right now. Under current state ordinance, all Massachusetts brewpubs and taprooms will be closed for on-premise consumption until April 6.

While you won’t be able to sit and have a pint with us these next few weeks, we hope you’ll include locally made Massachusetts beer in your supply runs by purchasing beer to-go at breweries or at package stores. Many package stores are offering home delivery through Drizly and breweries have launched online sales and curbside pickup to ensure social distancing protocols are being met.

Food delivery and takeout is available at select breweries and brewpubs, and online stores are always open for merchandise and gift card purchases. SAN MARCOS, Calif. — With the recent closures of all three tasting rooms in North County due to the COVID-19 situation, The Lost Abbey has added a new form of distribution to its profile. Hand- delivering award-winning craft beers direct to consumers.

All three brands, The Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, and The Hop Concept are now available for purchase at shop.lostabbey.com and will be delivered directly to a consumer’s doorstep in the Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Del Dios, and Rancho Santa Fe neighborhoods.

“Our goal, as always, is to promote craft beer however possible, in any situation”, said Tomme Arthur, COO and Co-Founder of The Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, and The Hop Concept. “Think about how happy you’ll be when you hear that doorbell and know there’s Lost Abbey beer outside waiting for you.”

Consumers who live outside of the designated neighborhoods can also purchase beers for delivery to be shipped anywhere inside the state of California.

“We have plenty of friends in South San Diego and up in the Bay Area that don’t have the option to keep a few beers on-hand, so we came up with a plan for them as well” said Tomme Arthur. “It may take a day to get to you, but it’ll get there.”

SAN DIEGO — With the news and risks of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) increasing daily, Thorn Brewing Co. is taking steps to make sure that customers can minimize exposure to the virus while still being able to enjoy their craft beer.

This weekend, Thorn Barrio Logan (1745 National Ave. 92113) is rolling out a program that allows people to pull up in the alley behind the brewery and get six-packs of beer delivered out to their car. There will be a Thorn employee posted up, ready to hand off beer and take payment. To start off, this service will be available this Friday, March 13th from 3 PM-7 PM and Saturday, March 14th from 10 AM-2 PM. They will look to expand the hours based on how many people are taking advantage of the new service.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to provide greater value to our neighbors,” Thorn Brewing General Manager, Tom Kiely explained. “Though that usually means improving on the quality and variety of our beers, it’s also about offering a more thoughtful way to get our beer to our neighbors. By allowing them to drive up to our brewery, we’re allowing them the opportunity to limit their exposure to crowds without sacrificing their ability to enjoy some beer.”

PORTLAND, Ore. – As a B Corp celebrating its five-year certification anniversary this March, Hopworks Urban Brewery has announced the release of Evergreen Dry Irish Stout. Featuring a tight tan head, rich coffee aroma and creamy mouthfeel, this limited edition nitro stout will be on tap exclusively at Hopworks’ three locations beginning March 13.

HARRISBURG, Pa.– Local brewers Bruce Tanner and Cliff Plank have joined the team at Appalachian Brewing Company to take control of brewery operations for the popular Pennsylvania-based brew pub.

Tanner, who will take over as brewmaster, has been brewing since 2003 at breweries including Pub Dog, Troegs Brewing, Natty Greene’s, Streets of New York Brewery. Most recently, Tanner founded and worked as the brewmaster for Ever Grain Brewing Company in Camp Hill, Pa.

Plank is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and most recently brewed at Tattered Flag Brewery & Still Works in Middleton, PA. Plank is certified as a Cicerone Beer Server (CBS) and will take over as the head brewer.

Together, the two new brew team members are looking forward to introducing a number of new beers to Appalachian Brewing Company’s line-up, including several new sour beers.

In another position shift, Appalachian Brewing Company’s original brewmaster and director of operations, Artie Tafoya, has transitioned to the Chief Operations Officer role.

“It has been an honor to over see the brewery for the last 20 plus years,” said Tafoya. “It’s time for these young and super talented brewers to take over and lead ABC into the future!”

HOLLAND, Mich. — Big Lake Brewing, one of the fastest-growing craft breweries in Michigan, announced the arrival of Swing Juice, a new IPA targeting Michigan’s $4.2 billion golf industry. Swing Juice is a golfers’ beer – perfect for spending a day on the course. At 5.5% ABV and 25 IBUs, Swing Juice is a juicy IPA, brewed with Citra and Amarillo hops, and drinks clean from the can or glass.

Big Lake’s newest addition brings together a Michigan-focused lineup of summer activities beer, including Camper, Lake King and BLB95. Michigan is home to more than 500,000 regular players and 60,000 golf employees who work at more than 650 golf courses in the state, including 5 of the top 100 public golf courses in America.

“Golf and craft beer are huge for the Michigan tourism economy, and we wanted to bring them together with our own take on golfing beer,” said Keith Henry, sales director. “Our head brewer, Zachary Dreyer, designed this IPA to capture the essence of a Michigan pastime, crushable with great flavor for a hot day on the course.”

Big Lake recently increased their brewing capacity by another 50 percent, with two new 30-barrel fermenters and a new BriteTank, increasing the brewery’s overall output to 7,000 barrels per year. Since opening in 2013, Big Lake has grown more than 400 percent, and landed on the 2019 Brewers Association list of fastest-growing independent and craft breweries in the United States, one of only two Michigan breweries on the list.

Swing Juice is now in distribution across the entire state, available at golf courses and on draft in bars and restaurants, and in retail stores through Imperial Beverage. It will be available through the end of Michigan golfing season.

BALTIMORE — Heavy Seas Beer is excited to announce the next release from its 15 Barrel Brewhouse, Pooch Power, an unfiltered Pilsner. This beer will be available in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans and on draft in the Heavy Seas Taproom at the brewery during the official release on Friday, April 17, and at its annual Pups & Pints event on Sunday, April 19. Max’s Taphouse will also be having a draft only release of the beer on Saturday, April 18th. A portion of all Pooch Power 4pack sales at the brewery, and Pooch Power draft sales at Max’s, will be donated to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).

“Sometimes simple and classic is best. It doesn’t get any more classic in Baltimore for craft beer enthusiasts than Max’s Taphouse,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. “When developing a beer with them to help benefit our fine furry friends through BARCS, we opted to brew a Franconian-style Kellerpils. PACIFIC CITY, Ore. — Staying true to its beach roots, Pelican Brewing Company adds to its flock, breaking ground this month on its newest location on Siletz Bay in Lincoln City, Oregon. Pelican is planning another unique brewpub experience, at the former site of The Bay House restaurant—to showcase the magnificence of this beautiful stretch of the Oregon Coast. The new brewpub is expected to open early in 2021. While actual groundbreaking will take place on the site this spring, a community celebration will be planned for a future date.

Twenty-four years after opening its first venue—and Oregon’s only oceanfront brewpub—in Pacific City, Pelican brings its iconic beach culture to another Oregon coast town. Like its other locations in Pacific City, Cannon Beach and Tillamook, the Siletz Bay brewpub will offer craft beers unique to that location—and a modern yet casual and relaxing guest experience punctuated by the raw natural beauty and wildlife of the bay. The new brewpub will deliver the same incomparable pub fare featuring locally-sourced seafood and produce, and a number of innovative features found only at Pelican Brewing—Siletz Bay.

According to lead architect, Alan Jones, Jones Architecture, the new brewpub is being designed as a destination venue that at once draws upon and honors the traditions of the Oregon Coast, Siletz Bay and the Pelican brand. The design was inspired by both coastal working buildings and the natural environment—the shifting tides, ever changing conditions and the dramatic views of the driftwood covered beaches called for a design solution that allowed the building t0 open up to the outside and for the outside to come in. Guests both inside the dining room as well as those seated outside on decks and boardwalks will literally feel like they are fully immersed in the atmosphere of the bay and beach.

“In addition to the contextual influences the project is also deeply rooted in the Pelican brand and experience,” says Jones. “We have worked hard to understand the Pelican culture—it’s an honor be part of the team working on this spectacular site with such great partners. We are very excited to see the Siletz Bay Pelican come to life”.

A new 10-barrel brewpub to craft exclusive brews for Siletz Bay

A 10-barrel brewhouse located adjacent to the dining room will craft most of the beer served in this brewpub and offer guests a brew-side-view of the exposed brewing operation and a chance to interact with Pelican Brewers. The brewery will function as a pilot system for creating experimental batches as well as brewing a few year-round beers just for Siletz Bay. The brewpub features 20 taps at the bar and a growler fill station located in the lobby. Pelican’s award-winning year-round beers Kiwanda Cream Ale, Beak Breaker Double IPA, Tsunami Stout and other core Pelican beers will anchor the tap line-up with creative seasonal and small batch brews on constant rotation.

THE BRONX, N.Y. – With its ninth birthday on the horizon and its Taproom & Backyard in the South Bronx coming off a record-setting year, The Bronx Brewery is heading downtown. And bringing friends.

The brewery announced today that it will expand to a second location this fall, launching a pilot brewery, taproom, kitchen and music venue in the heart of Manhattan’s East Village. Located at 64 Second Ave (between 3rd & 4th St.), The Bronx Brewery East Village will combine limited-release brewing, the brewery’s signature events, art & music from rising stars across NYC, and a special guest in the kitchen.

The space will bring the brewery’s goal of building community through a diverse, creative and inclusive environment to an iconic neighborhood long known for its creative energy.

“Our goal has always been to create amazing beer – but it’s never been just about the beer itself,” said The Bronx Brewery president and co-founder Damian Brown. “We believe great beer can bring people from all walks of life together, and it’s a privilege to see that happen every day in the South Bronx. We’re excited to share so much of what makes our culture special with a new part of the city.”

The pilot brewery system will dramatically expand the Brewery’s Up and Comers creative series, with more frequent releases, a more experimental range of styles and boundless opportunities for collaboration. Now in its third year, the series has produced some of the brewery’s most popular beers while also providing a platform for rising-star local creatives. Beginning with label design, the series has grown to include music, murals, food and more.

Small-batch offerings produced downtown will pour at both Taprooms, alongside a full lineup of Bronx Brewery beers led by American Pale Ale, No Resolutions IPA, Well Earned Pilsner and Summer Pale Ale.

The Bronx Brewery East Village will be designed as a communal space, no matter the time of day. From brunch to a beer with friends to a night of live DJs, its multilevel layout – including immersive seating in the pilot brewhouse – will feature a variety of ways to engage with the space.

Murals and revolving street art will cover the walls and hi-fi sound will saturate the space, creating a showcase for New York City’s top up-and-coming artists, DJ’s and live acts.

The space will also give the brewery another vehicle to give back to the local community, with the limited-release brew series set to be used as a recurring fundraising platform for community organizations in the South Bronx and East Village. Earlier this year, the Brewery supported Puerto Rico relief efforts in collaboration with Bronx performer Richie ‘Crazy Legs’ Colon, while the Brewery will continue to open its doors as a venue for charitable causes.

In the kitchen, discussions are in advanced stages with a partner that shares the brewery’s values of approachability, creativity and community. More details will be announced in the coming months.

The Bronx Brewery East Village will serve as an ideal complement to The Bronx Brewery’s longtime Taproom & Backyard home on 856 East 136th Street in The Bronx, which will continue producing the majority of the Brewery’s beer, hosting guests seven days a week and working toward fulfilling its goal of creating the most unique, diverse and inclusive events series of any brewery in the country.

“We have created a vibrant atmosphere – one that’s inclusive and community-oriented – with beer, music, and art at the center,” said Brandon Espinosa, Bronx Brewery GM of Venue and Events. “We always knew we had something special that made the experience at our brewery different and memorable. We’re beyond excited to bring the richness of our unique culture to the East Village for more people to experience, and look forward to introducing more people to our lifestyle.”
