Payette Brewing Reopens Tap Room and Beer Garden

June 2, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Payette Brewing Reopens Tap Room and Beer Garden

BOISE, Idaho – After being closed to the public for over two months due to the cease on-site consumption of the Tap Room during COVID-19, Payette is thrilled to welcome back their loyal supporters to their brewery on Saturday, May 30th, at 11 a.m. With the health and safety of their employees and customers being their number one priority, the spacious 4,600 square feet will allow guests to still practice social distancing while enjoying their cold craft, quality beer.

“We are so pumped to welcome back our guests to Payette Brewing, and once again unite over a beer,” said Michael Francis, owner of Payette Brewing. “We have taken every detailed step to make our customers feel at ease and safe while enjoying a cold beer in our expansive Tap Room, and get a sneak peek at our new, completely renovated and updated beer garden!”

During the COVID closure, Payette took advantage of the less traffic time to make significant updates to their 11,000 square foot beer garden. Although it will not be finished by opening, guests will be able to view and see renderings of the grounds. The updated beer garden includes a 10-foot fire pit, a bocce ball court, dedicated food truck parking, sun sails, stage area, and 2,610 square feet of beautiful artificial grass.

Also, during the closure, Payette’s staff participated in Crush the Curve Idaho, and have been tested for antibodies. Those employees who will be on-site during the opening, have followed the protocol set by that program.

Strictly following the state protocols for bars and breweries, Payette will be closely monitoring the Tap Room and taking proactive steps to keep their staff and guests healthy. Payette has increased sanitation and disinfection efforts at the property to support these efforts. A continuous cleaning regimen with medical-grade disinfectant throughout the day has been established. Other efforts include:

  • Limit occupancy to 30-50% with a hostess to manage the number of patrons who are in the Tap Room at once, to maintain physical distancing requirements
  • Spacing tables appropriately to keep patrons six feet apart while seated and while moving in and out of chairs
  • Keep a six-foot distance when waiting in line for entrance to the establishment
  • Dedicate staff members to disinfection of high contact surfaces throughout the establishment and disinfection of tables between parties
  • Make sure growlers and refillable or reusable containers are cleaned prior to refilling
  • Require all employees in contact with patrons to wear cloth face coverings and gloves during their shift and change gloves after touching patron items
  • Screen employees for fever and symptoms before every shift

During the closure, Payette Brewing launched an online “Buy Your Pal a Pint” program, which generated over 900 virtual beer gifts. Guests who participated in the program or received a beer will be the firsts welcomed through the doors to redeem their pint.

“Thank you to everyone for your support and your trust in Payette Brewing during this time,” said Francis. “

Due to the unprecedented nature and fluidity of the current situation, Payette will monitor the coronavirus on a continuous basis and keep patrons and staff informed as the situation evolves. Up-to-date information will be available on their website.

Devils Backbone Brewing is looking for a Chief Hiking Officer to hike the Appalachian Trail

June 2, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

Devils Backbone Brewing - Chief Hiking OfficerDevils Backbone Brewing is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a few miles from the Appalachian Trail, so we can get our fill of fresh air at any time. But folks always tell us how they wish they had the time to trek the AT from Georgia to Maine. So, why couldn’t we sponsor one lucky hiker and help them check “conquer the AT” off their bucket list?

Well, that’s what Devils Backbone is doing! This spring they are accepting applications for their 2021 Chief Hiking Officer. That’s right: they are going to pay someone to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2021. They’ll outfit their Chief Hiking Officer with gear, fly ‘em to the trailhead, and throw some big ol’ beer parties along the way. Plus, there’s a $20k stipend.

Qualifications? You’ve gotta love hiking and beer. They mean really love it. We’re talking 2,200 miles, camping under the stars, pack-in-pack-out for 5-7 months love it. If this sounds like your dream job, read up on exactly what Devils Backbone Brewing is looking for: Click Here.

Ready For The Challenge
Hiking the AT is no joke. It’s 2,200 miles huffing your pack all over the Wild East. You’re sleeping under the stars and there’s no food delivery service (trust us, we’ve checked). Our CHO has to prove to us that they are prepared for this once in a lifetime adventure.

Creative Content Expert
The only real ask of our CHO other than hiking the AT is to send us some content that we can share with our followers to cheer you on as you go! Know how to work a camera? Great. Know how to work a camera and get a bunch of likes? Even better.

Experienced Hiker & Wilderness Adventurer
Since this is one of the toughest survival experiences of all time, we wouldn’t feel right sending just anyone out there to give it the ol’ college try. Make sure your entry summarizes your hiking and adventure experience.

Passionate About Craft Beer
Goes without saying…but we’re a brewery, so our CHO should be passionate about enjoying a delicious beer post-hike. And of course, you might even get to assist in some product research. Yep, that’s exactly what you think it means.

Magic Hat Releases Bartlett Bay Margarita Gose

June 1, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Magic Hat Bartlett Bay Margarita Gose

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Magic Hat Brewing Company has released a new, limited batch summer quencher to ensure that no palate goes dry during the sun’s searing reign. Bartlett Bay is a margarita gose that welcomes overheated beer lovers “into the bay” for a quick cool-off.

Tropical Escape-in-a-Can

After many months of toiling with different ingredients and flavor profiles, Magic Hat’s magnificent brewers nailed down the perfect potion for summer refreshment. Like the perfect margarita, Bartlett Bay is made with orange, lime, and salt, balancing the sweet with the sour to create a fiesta of flavors. Smooth and tart, thanks to a malt bill that includes wheat and acidulated malt, Bartlett Bay weighs in at 3.0% ABV, sports 8g of carbs and a respectably sexy 99 calories.

Bartlett Bay is named for the bay that isn’t there, and maybe never was. This beer is brewed to serve as a reminder that refreshment is a state of mind – you will find yourself basking in a land of tropical revelry at first sip.

In addition to refreshment, Bartlett Bay had a second purpose: supporting Lake Champlain. Magic Hat will be donating $5,000 from the proceeds of this beer to our friends at the Lake Champlain Committee, who work hard to protect our lake’s ecological health and accessibility for future generations.

Pull Up a Chair and Kick It with These Cans

Bartlett Bay will be available in 6-pack cans and draft from May through September. Those who wish to “visit” Bartlett Bay this summer are encouraged to consult the Sip Code® Locator at website.

June 1, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Galactic Space Circus Creature Comforts’ Seasonal Lineup

Athens, Ga. — Creature Comforts Brewing Company will release Galactic Space Circus as a seasonal offering this June. The beer was previously offered as a limited release.

Galactic Space Circus is a single-hopped hazy IPA (6.6% ABV) that features Galaxy hops. The IPA highlights the bright citrus and tropical notes of the brewery’s favorite Australian hop variety. Lactose sugar and a generous portion of oats, along with the hops, give this beer a beautifully balanced flavor and full-bodied mouthfeel.

The seasonal release will be available in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans from the brewery in early June. Galactic Space Circus will be available in the brewery’s distribution footprint shortly following the onsite release. For more information about Creature Comforts Brewing Company, visit www.creaturecomfortsbeer.com. Cheers!
