Firestone Walker Launches 805 Ad Campaign

Firestone Walker Launches 805 Ad Campaign

PASO ROBLES, Calif. – Firestone Walker has launched its latest ad campaign for 805 beer featuring brand ambassador and acclaimed car builder Matt Noble.

The campaign features the giveaway of a custom built 1949 Chevy truck valued at more than $45,000, and will be supported through ad spots across digital media, driving awareness among millions of consumers in top 805 markets. It will also include strong brick-and-mortar merchandising support, and an engaging episodic content series that follows Noble and the Chevy buildout over the past year.

“Now more than ever, it’s vital for brands like Firestone to drive excitement for the category,” said Dustin Hinz, Firestone Walker’s chief marketing officer. “Our campaign with Matt exemplifies our commitment to staying hyper-aggressive in our support of 805, and the need to collaborate with our partners to invest and drive deeper demand for one of the most popular beers in the west.”

The extended ad spot features Noble handing the ‘49 Chevy keys to Fasthouse and 805 team rider Darryn Durham for a beer run along the California coast. Additional versions of the spots will rotate in flights throughout the summer campaign.

Extended Ad Spot: video

Ad Spot & Making of Series: vibe.805Beer.com

Noble began the project as a complete frame-off restoration, followed by a custom buildout from the engine to the interior. The truck was finished with obsessive detailing and an 805 aesthetic flair. Noble was previously featured in 805 Beer’s “Authentico” film series, which showcases salt-of-the-earth individuals who reflect the culture of 805.

Consumers can enter to win the truck through September 30 via text-to-redeem codes featured on in-store display; or online at 805beer.com.

“Matt Noble is one of the most respected car builders in the world and is based in the heart of 805,” said Troy Powell, 805’s brand director. “This rare Chevy classic is a daily driver that stops on a dime and sits flat on the ground when parked. It looks like we just drove it off the showroom floor in 1949. It’s one-of-kind. We would love to keep it, though it’s much more fun to give it away to one of our loyal 805 drinkers.”

About Firestone Walker Brewing Company

Lift Bridge Brewing Co. to Sell Mini Donut Beer and Key Lime Pie Beer On Tap and in Crowlers at Stillwater Taproom

July 22, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Lift Bridge Brewing Co. to Sell Mini Donut Beer and Key Lime Pie Beer On Tap and in Crowlers at Stillwater Taproom

STILLWATER, Minn. — Lift Bridge Brewing Company, Stillwater’s first craft brewery since Prohibition, has announced that Mini Donut Beer – the State Fair’s first-ever exclusive craft beer – and fan-favorite Key Lime Pie Beer, will be available for purchase on tap and in crowlers at the Lift Bridge taproom this year due to the cancellation of the 2020 Minnesota State Fair.

Beginning Wednesday, July 29 at noon, State Fair enthusiasts and craft beer lovers alike can preorder both limited edition beers online in 750 milliliter crowlers for curbside pickup at the taproom between August 27 and September 7, the originally planned dates for the 2020 Minnesota State Fair. During that same time period, visitors to the brewery can also enjoy both beers on tap. The link to preorder crowlers of Mini Donut Beer and Key Lime Pie Beer starting July 29 can be found on Lift Bridge’s Facebook Page at noon CT on July 16.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring our fans a taste of the State Fair with Mini Donut Beer and Key Lime Pie Beer this year,” said Brad Glynn, vice president of marketing and co-founder of Lift Bridge Brewing Company. “The community atmosphere of the Great Minnesota Get Together is very close to our hearts at Lift Bridge, and we hope this will help provide everyone with that same feeling of togetherness during these times.”

Mini Donut Beer (ABV: 4.7% IBU: 18) is an American amber ale served in a glass rimmed with mini donut cinnamon sugar. Mini Donut Beer has a malty base and natural flavors which give this sweet sipper enough rich flavor without overwhelming the palate. Mini Donut beer was first released in 2013 as the original State Fair exclusive beer at the Ball Park Cafe. Eight years later, the beer has become a nationally recognized staple at the Great Minnesota Get-Together, and has inspired dozens of specialty Minnesota State Fair brews.

Key Lime Pie Beer (ABV: 4.5% IBU: 13) is a citrus ale with a refreshing squeeze of key lime and biscuity-golden notes, sweetened with a touch of lactose. The key to this Key Lime Pie Beer, is its accompanying glass, rimmed with organic coconut palm sugar. Key Lime Pie beer was introduced at Cafe Caribe in 2018, quickly gaining popularity after its second appearance last year.

Lift Bridge beers, hard seltzers and sodas can be found throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, and in Eastern North Dakota. To learn more about Lift Bridge Brewing Company, visit www.liftbridgebrewery.com.

Mother Earth Brewing Company Releases Alone In Space Hazy IPA

July 22, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Mother Earth Brewing Company Releases Alone In Space Hazy IPA

VISTA, Calif. and NAMPA, Idaho – Mother Earth is releasing an exciting new brew as part of its Project X Series line of beers. Alone In Space is a Hazy Oatmeal IPA and showcases four different tropical hops. It’s featured hop, Sabro, shines with a robust bouquet of tangerine, coconut, tropical and stone fruit, and hints of cedar. To support its hoppy character, a simple grain bill consisting mainly of oats is used to add a creamy body and limit malt influence.

“What’s really exciting about this series is coming up with ways to nuance flavors and aromas through subtle recipe changes. The large percentage of oats used in this beer, for example, gives the beer a really fine & soft hazy quality that plays off of the hops beautifully.”

Chris Baker – Director of Brewing Operations, Mother Earth

The beauty of Alone In Space isn’t just restricted to the liquid though. Mother Earth has chosen a dramatic artistic landscape to frame the liquid, with a gripping illustration on display done by Idaho-native Gail Richards.

Distribution of Alone In Space begins this week in 16oz, 4-pack cans. Customers may find Mother Earth’s products at select craft beer retailers nationally. For more info on Alone In Space and the Project X Series, visit website.

Stay tuned for additional announcements on new products brewed by one of America’s finest independent craft breweries, Mother Earth Brewing Company.

About Mother Earth
Mother Earth Brew Co. develops hand crafted artisanal ales in year-round, as well as seasonal and specialty offerings. With multi-state as well as international distribution serviced by breweries in Vista, CA and Nampa, ID; Mother Earth’s award-winning beers help define and maintain the standard of excellence expected of independent craft brewers.

Cliff Thompson – The World’s Tallest Beer Salesman at 8′ 7″

July 21, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

Cliff Thompson - The World's Tallest Beer Salesman at 8' 7".Cliff Thompson was born in Ramsey County, North Dakota, in 1904. None of his family were unusually tall. A Blatz trade card he widely handed out bore a photo of him with his father. That Thompson was much taller and larger than most people became apparent while he was still young but he did not stop growing until he was 27 years old.

Thompson was a North Dakota native who moved with his family to Wisconsin when he was seven. He intended to be a science or math teacher after graduating from Stevens Point State Teachers College but by the time he graduated, he figured that he would earn more money by going to work with the circus and he spent many years as the “Tall Man.”

Thompson was 8′ 7″ tall and was second behind Alton, Ill.’s Robert Wadlow, who was four inches taller and the undisputed World’s Tallest Man. Thompson weighed 460 pounds, was 44 inches at the waist and wore a size 22 shoe.

Still a young man, Cliff made personal appearances and traveled with the Ringling Brothers organization and later with the Cole Brothers Circus.

In 1932 Cliff received screen credits in a short film, “Seal Skins,” with Zasu Pitts and a monkey named Jocko. In 1934 he appeared in feature length pictures, including “Twentieth Century,” with John Barrymore and Carole Lombard and “Murder in the Private Car” with Charles Ruggles and Una Merkel. These were largely “walk on” roles designed to startle the audience.

Cliff went back to the circus, where he met and fell in love with Mary Mars, a 5 foot, 6 inch dancer from Milwaukee who had left her career as a night club performer to join Cole Brothers in 1938. Seeking a more stable lifestyle once they were married, they moved to Milwaukee where Thompson sought to capitalize on his fame and size as a product spokesman for a Ford dealer and milk producers. That is when Blatz beer came into his life.

When the State Fair concluded, Thompson went to the Blatz head offices in Milwaukee where he convinced the management to hire him as spokesman for their products. As shown here, Blatz would give him cards to give out to customers with him and his wife and information on the back.

The financial security of the job allowed Cliff and Mary to wed. At the time he was 34 years old and she was 32. Over the next few years on behalf of Blatz, the couple traveled by automobile all over the United States.

When he grew weary of life on the road–he slept diagonally on two hotel room beds pushed together–he enrolled in law school at Marquette University in Milwaukee. He earned his law degree, presumably becoming at that point the World’s Tallest Lawyer, and practiced law in Iowa and Los Angeles before finally settling in Portland, Oregon where he worked until he died at age 50 in 1955.

America’s Coolest Home Brewery built by Chris Bowen of Hammersmith Ales
HammerSmith Ales started in 2005 , the idea for the name Hammersmith was originally inspired after the town outside of London, England. HammerSmith is rich in history and has a few landmarks significant to music, a famous bridge and an important stop along the river Thames. Chris’s interest in British culture started many years ago, he has always been a fan of British beer , authors of literature, and British personalities. Early on in my exploration of beer, he quickly discovered breweries like Fuller’s, Shepard Naeme, Young’s, Samuel Smith and Greene King. When he started brewing, he quickly decided that he was going to focus on British style beers like English Bitters, Extra Special Bitter , India Pale Ale, Old Ale and Barleywine.

BOSTON — Hopsters Brewing Company, Boston’s first and only custom craft brewery, restaurant and bar that allows you to brew your own beer, reopens it’s Seaport Boston location Thursday, July 16th, 2020. Part of Owner Lee Cooper’s reopening plan includes new Upper Management hires and implementing a new elevated food menu to serve a more catered experience for guests.

Deciding to reinvest in his brand, Cooper added several members to his Upper Management Team prior to reopening it’s doors, including: Director of Operations Marshall Crane and Executive Chef Kyle Wallace, both formerly of Chef Jody Adams’ Trade and Porto Restaurants; and Head of Marketing Chelsea Hildreth, formerly of Miami’s Clevelander South Beach hospitality brands.

“With COVID being the new normal, our guests will be more discerning on how and where they spend their hospitality dollars,” said Cooper. “With an emphasis on great service, food and experiences we wanted to invest in the best leadership that will provide our guests the best experiences possible”

The first step the Hopsters Team took was to create an elevated food menu under the guidance of Executive Chef Kyle Wallace while continuing to upgrade it’s craft beer, wine and cocktail menu. The new menu features American Classic offerings with a modern twist, including items such as an artisan squash blossom flatbread, Mediterranean-style Shishito Peppers and an upgrade to the classic American cheeseburger to make it Hopsters’ own.

Idle Hands Craft Ales Releases 2 New Beers

July 21, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Idle Hands Craft Ales Releases 2 New Beers

MALDEN, Mass. — Idle Hands Craft Ales today will release two brand new beers: Short Season, a New England IPA, and Gretel, a traditional German Pilsner.

Short Season
In honor of the upcoming abridged season of America’s Favorite Pastime, Idle Hands is introducing a new member to their family of beers with baseball-themed names. Short Season is a 6% ABV New England IPA featuring an all-star lineup of hops including Sabro and Galaxy. It has low bitterness and notes of pineapple, tropical fruit, and a hint of coconut.

“If you know anything about Idle Hands, you probably know that we’re big baseball fans,” said Chris Tkach, owner, Idle Hands. “We have a lot of beers with names that reference the sport: Splitter, Four Seam, 34 (in honor of the jersey number worn by Red Sox legend David Ortiz). We’re all excited about baseball returning on the 23rd, even if it’s just for a few months, and thought this was a good way to show our excitement.”

Gretel
Gretel is a traditional German Pilsner with a patio-friendly 4.6% ABV. Gretel was brewed with a very traditional focus, using 100% Noble hops and a simple grain bill. It’s a classic Pilsner with a light, grassy character and touches of spice in the finish.

“We’re constantly brewing new and different beers to give people options,” added Tkach, “but I always feel at home when we tap into our lager-centric roots. Gretel is a really nice, traditional, no nonsense German style Pilsner that’s perfect for the hot weather.”

Short Season and Gretel will all be available in 16oz. can four-packs for curbside pickup and for on-site consumption at the Idle Hands beer garden starting today. These and more beers can be ordered online directly from Idle Hands at shop.idlehandscraftales.com.
