East Rock Brewing Company Expands Distribution Statewide in Connecticut

July 21, 2020 by Andrew Innes

East Rock Brewing Company Expands Distribution Statewide in Connecticut

New Haven, Conn. – East Rock Brewing Company is excited to announce that it has partnered with Craft Beer Guild of Connecticut to permanently expand its distribution to cover the entire state.

“When we started less than two years ago, we wanted to control our own destiny and message in the marketplace” said Shaun Wilson, East Rock’s Co-Founder and General Manager. “This led us down the path of self-distribution and we found great success in New Haven County and parts of adjacent territories. In order to continue to grow we had to choose between investing in logistics or investing in capacity, quality, and brand building. After meeting with the leadership from Craft Beer Guild of Connecticut and The Sheehan Family Companies, the choice was a no-brainer for us.”

East Rock’s Head Brewer and Co-Founder Tim Wilson echoed those sentiments. “Our expertise lies in brewing high quality German-inspired beers, especially our lagers. That is where our passion lies and where we want our focus to be moving forward. While we were able to provide good service in a small radius to our customers, we would never be able to match Craft’s distribution scale or their knowledge of the marketplace on our own.”

“East Rock produces world class lager beer, especially their Pilsner” said Adam O’Brien, Craft’s GM for the State of Connecticut. “We’re excited to bring them on board and anticipate a lot of excitement for their products throughout the region. Lagers are notoriously difficult to make well, and these guys have it down.”

East Rock will be offering its four core brands for distribution: Pilsner, East Rock Lager (a Munich-style Helles), Vienna Lager, and Weisse Bier in addition to its seasonally available Goses and lagers.

About East Rock Brewing Company
East Rock uses time-honored methods and imported ingredients to produce pure and crisp German-inspired beer. Painfully slow to make but a pleasure to drink, its beers undergo a prolonged and labor-intensive fermentation, resulting in an uncommon depth of flavor and natural carbonation. Fresher than an import and more approachable than a typical craft, East Rock beers are designed for drinkability, but never at the expense of taste. It’s the ultimate everyday companion and the perfect reward for an honest day’s work.

Two Roads Brewing Co. and Area Two Experimental Brewing Expand Distribution to Minnesota

STRATFORD, Conn. — Two Roads Brewing Company and Area Two Experimental Brewing are excited to announce the launch of their diverse portfolio of products in Minnesota. Offerings from both breweries are now available on shelves and on draft.

Two Roads is the 47th largest independent craft beer brand in the United States as reported in the Brewer’s Association “Top 50 Breweries of 2019 by Sales Volume.” The driving force behind these artfully crafted beers is Master Brewer, Phil Markowski. Markowski is an industry veteran of over 30 years, recipient of the Institute for Brewing Studies Russell Scherer Award for Innovation in Craft Brewing and author of the book Farmhouse Ales. He and his team have created a lineup of products that span the craft beer spectrum.

“We plan to focus on our unique offerings from our Area Two Experimental Brewing facility as well as select beers from our consistently reliable Two Roads core lineup,” said Director of Sales, Meghan Zachry. Acclaimed mainstay products like Two Juicy Hazy Juicy IPA, No Limits Hefeweizen and Tanker Truck Passion Fruit Gose will complement a variety of rotating offerings from both Two Roads and Area Two.

Area Two is a relatively recent expansion for Two Roads Brewing Company that opened in the Spring of 2019. The state-of-the-art facility is a sour, barrel-aging and experimental brewery situated on their 10-acre campus in Stratford, CT. Here, Markowski and his team focus on the wild and spontaneous side of brewing. “We will continue to innovate, redefine and stretch the definition of beer,” says Markowski. Twoquila, a tequila barrel-aged lime gose, and Synopsis, a revolving line of fruited wild sour ales, are just two examples of the experimental brews that Minnesotans can look to enjoy from Area Two.

Two Roads will also launch their H2ROADS Craft Hard Seltzer brand in the state. This line of hard seltzers was created using 100% real fruit, instead of relying on extracts and artificial flavors. Not only does the real fruit give each flavor a standout color, but this craft hard seltzer line is also gluten free and low on calories, carbs and sugar.

“We are very excited that Two Roads and Area Two have chosen us as their distribution partner in Minnesota” said Clear River Beverage Vice President, Jake Sauter. “They produce world-class products across multiple styles. We cannot wait to see the excitement in Minnesota for their brands this summer and beyond.” Zachry reciprocated, saying, “The Clear River Beverage team has an obvious passion for craft beer, excellent customer service and strong community support. We look forward to maintaining those philosophies through our presence in Minnesota while continuing to encourage beer lovers everywhere to take the road less traveled!”

To find Two Roads, Area Two or H2ROADS products, ask your local retailer or use the brand’s “Beer Finder” at website.

Mad River Brewing Launches New Jamaica Red Ale Logo

July 20, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Mad River Brewing Launches New Jamaica Red Ale Logo

BLUE LAKE, Calif. — The Mad River Brewing Company unveiled the artwork for an eye-catching new label that will soon adorn the national award-winning Jamaica Red Ale.

“The new label places the classic, Great American Beer Festival medal winner into a package that expresses the brightness of this full-bodied ale,” said MRB’s Chief Operating Officer Linda Cooley, who has more than a dozen years of experience working for widely known microbrew makers in the US. “The radiant artwork on the label recognizes both the Yurok Tribe’s ownership of Mad River Brewing Company and the brewery’s reputation for producing best-quality, hand-crafted beers. I am so proud to be part of the team that is taking this incredible company to the next level.”

The Jamaica Red Ale’s spicy aromatic hop character, combined with its caramel richness, set it apart from all other amber-colored beers. The elaborate flavor profile earned it a top medal at the Great American Beer Festival, which is one of the most coveted awards in the craft ale industry.

Produced by digital artist, Jessica Carenco, the deeply symbolic, Jamaica Red Ale label features a hummingbird silhouette flanked by brilliant red, gold and green hues. Befitting of this bright, yet balanced beer, the boldly colored illustration also boasts a sturgeon-back design beneath the hovering bird. Yurok sturgeon-back pattern has been used since the beginning of time.

“Working with Jessica has been a gift. She is an incredible artist who has deep affinity for the Yurok people. She has created a label that brings to life the love we all have for this beer,” said MRB COO Cooley, a Yurok citizen. “Her immense artistic abilities are an invaluable asset to this company.”

The Yurok Tribe purchased the Mad River Brewing Company last fall. In early May of this year, the Company introduced a new logo for the business, highlighting its long legacy as a leader in the craft beer market while distinguishing it as a tribally owned enterprise. The Company operates a state-of-the-art brewery and the Mad River Brewing Tap Room in Blue Lake, CA. In late May, the Tap Room, a family friendly restaurant, hired its first-ever Executive Chef. Trevor Eliason, born and raised in Humboldt County, spent more than 15 years as an Executive Chef at some of the most prominent wineries in Sonoma County, before returning home to employ his exceptional cooking skills for the benefit of his community. Executive Chef Eliason recently revamped the entire Tap Room menu, which now includes artfully assembled, mouth-watering meals that pair perfectly with the brewery’s broad selection of hand-crafted ales.

In addition to the launch of the new label, the Mad River Brewing Company is pleased to announce the Jamaica Red Ale is the first product to receive a Yurok Country certification. Yurok Country is a Yurok Tribe-owned brand that seeks to showcase the good work of forward-looking, local companies. In order to obtain the Yurok Country seal of approval, products must meet the Yurok Tribe’s high standards for environmental and social responsibility.

“These actions are part of a long-term plan to strategically expand the Mad River Brewing Company. The MRB family is growing every day and we are extremely excited about what the future holds for this great company,” concluded COO Cooley.

The Mad River Brewing Company, located in Humboldt County, California has been brewing best-quality beers for more than three decades. MRB employs a time-honored, cut-no-corners approach to hand crafting the finest quality ales. The company has received four Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and one Bronze medal from the Great Ameri- can Beer Festival, which offers the most prestigious awards in the industry.

California Wild Ales Announces Second-Annual Comic-Con Beer Release and Costume Contest

SAN DIEGO – California Wild Ales, San Diego’s Sour House, and the city’s only all-barrel-aged American sour brewery, has announced its second annual Comic-Con beer release commemorating Comic-Con International, the largest annual comic and pop culture festival in the world. The brewery is calling all Superheroes, Zombies, Trekkies, Hufflepuffs, Anime characters and more to stop by its tasting room from July 22-26th for a Comic-Con-themed beer release and costume contest. Some of the beers this year are crowd favorites from last year’s event, and some are brand new.

Because of COVID-19, the brewery is making its beer available in 16oz crowlers and 500ml bottles to-go. As part of the release, the brewery is offering 13 sour ales including:“Cherry Potter,” “Pickle Rick,” “Daenerys Tar-Berry-an,” “Mr. Tea,” “Rosemary Poppins,” and “SpongeBob Sour Pants,” for on-site pick-up.

The brewery will hold a Comic-Con costume contest. Customers are invited to come by the brewery and get their photo taken or email photos of themselves in their costumes for a chance to win Comic-Con swag and a set of bottles. No purchase necessary. All photos will be posted to social media and the winner with the most “likes” wins. To enter please email photos to: info@californiawildales.com

“One of the best things about Comic-con is the costumes,” said Zack Brager, co-owner and founder of California Wild Ales. “It’s an art form, and here at California Wild Ales we are huge proponents of keeping the arts alive. That’s why from July 22nd to July 26th, we’re inviting people to wear those costumes proudly.”

“We decided a few months ago that no matter what, we would do another celebration of Comic-Con like we did last year, even if we had to make some adjustments due to COVID-19,” said Bill DeWitt, co-owner and founder of California Wild Ales. “We hope these fun, funky flavors inspire sour lovers to always believe in their inner superhero, and even though they can’t celebrate in costume, they can open a sour and make the most of it.”

California Wild Ales is releasing 13 sour beers, including a few flavors from the brewery’s recent “May the 4th Star Wars Day” event including “Darth Citrius,” “Chewboocha,” “ImPEARial Stormtrooper,” and “The Dark Side.”

Three varieties will be available in 500ml bottles, and 10 draft selections will be packaged in 16 ounce crowlers. The beer will be available for online sales for on-site pick up at the California Wild Ales brewery and tasting room located at 4202 Sorrento Valley Bld., Ste. L on Wednesday and Thursday, July 22-23rd from 12pm-5pm on and Friday through Sunday, July 24-26 from 12pm-7pm. Customers can visit: www.californiawildales.com or call (855) WILD-ALE or (855) 945-3253 to place orders. We will have some Comic-Con California Wild Ales’ stickers, as well as some Limited Edition Giclee Prints available for purchase on-site.

Three 500ml bottles include:
Sour Rangers: This golden sour blend of loquats, apricots, and kumquats with orange citrus yield a tropical melon character and a pleasant, balanced acidity.

Pickle Rick: This crisp and refreshing salty gose-style beer features fresh cucumber, dill, and black peppercorns, resulting in a pickle-y sour/salty combination perfect for hot summer days.

Darth Citrius: Made with Bearss limes, Meyer lemons, and Satsuma mandarins fresh off the trees from our friend Summer’s vineyard. Exploding with sweet citrus flavor, this best-selling deliciously tart wild ale is sure to be a hit.

Ten 16 ounce crowlers include:
Berry Allen: This beer blends Carlsbad blueberries with just the right amount of mint to add a refreshing touch to the beautiful tannic blueberry character. A great summer beer.

Daenerys Tar-Berry-an: We used the Carlsbad Blueberry beer as the base and added some spice to the mix with a healthy helping of jalapeños. The white Queen would approve.

Mr. Tea: We took a golden sour and rested it on a healthy portion of Meyer lemons before finishing it off with Lady Grey black tea and honey. The Meyer lemons blend beautifully with the spicy floral notes of Bergamot and natural orange and lemon from the tea. “I pity the fool who doesn’t try this beer.”

Rosemary Poppins: This savory sour features fresh, California rosemary with Meyer lemons and pairs perfectly with a meal or by itself. A spoonful of rosemary helps the sour go down.

Princess Peach: This pristine peach, jasmine green tea and honey blend provide a refreshing mix of sweet, tart, and floral flavors that you’ll want to drink by the pool.

Cherry Potter: After resting this golden sour on sweet cherry purée and adding a dash of vanilla, this beer exhibits notes of cherry pie with vanilla ice cream on top. It has a perfectly balanced acidity and is great as a dessert. Pure magic!

SpongeBob Sour Pants: Raw organic toasted coconut flakes were added to our classic grilled pineapple beer, yielding a sweet creamy character. Should be enjoyed on a beach out of a pineapple. (Disclaimer: California Wild Ales does not endorse drinking on the beach in San Diego because it is illegal).

Chewbacca: This refreshing fermented sour kombucha beer blend combines a golden sour base with carrot, turmeric, ginger, and cayenne pepper kombucha; a collaboration with TapShack Ocean Beach

ImPEARial Stormtrooper: This higher ABV (7.5%) Imperial sour beer features Julian pears and Saigon cinnamon that is reminiscent of an old-style naturally-fermented cider, crisp and cool for any time of year.

The Dark Side: This sour kombucha blend uses barrel-aged golden sour plus red beet, pomegranate, and hibiscus kombucha from TapShack Ocean Beach for an earthy, tart lip-smacker that will take you to the dark side and back!

Brockton Beer Company Collaborates with Vitamin Sea Brewing on Black Is Beautiful Release

July 17, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Brockton Beer Company Collaborates with Vitamin Sea Brewing on Black Is Beautiful Release

BROCKTON & WEYMOUTH, Ma.-– Brockton Beer Company is joining forces with Vitamin Sea Brewing to release a special collaborative beer as part of the Black Is Beautiful campaign. Black Is Beautiful will be available for purchase starting on Friday, July 17th, at Vitamin Sea Brewing in Weymouth.

Black Is Beautiful is an industry-wide collaboration started by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, Texas, to raise awareness of the injustices people of color face daily. Participating breweries will brew a beer with the base recipe supplied by Weathered Souls and the encouragement to add their own creativity to their beer.

“We’re really excited about this initiative,” said Pierre Alexandre, co-founder and CEO of Brockton Beer Co. “Brockton Beer Company is wildly diverse: we have a Haitian, a Puerto Rican, a Jamaican, a Canadian, a Filipino, and we’ve felt first-hand what it’s like to be in an industry where very few of the brewers or employees are people of color. Taking part in Black Is Beautiful resonates so deeply with what we’re about at Brockton Beer Company and the strides we’re taking to open up more conversations in the industry about diversity. Plus, the beer is just going to taste great.”

Vitamin Sea owner Dino Funari approached Alexandre about joining forces and supporting a local nonprofit. Although many of the breweries participating in Black Is Beautiful have brewed a stout, Brockton Beer Co. and Vitamin Sea decided they wanted to honor the spirit of the initiative but brew something they felt more people would gravitate to during the hot summer weeks ahead. The collab will be a Blackberry Fruited Sour with a 6% ABV.

Breweries participating in the Black Is Beautiful collaboration are also asked to donate the proceeds of their beer to a local organization that supports equality and inclusion, as well as commit to the long-term work needed to establish true equity. All proceeds from the Brockton Beer Co. and Vitamin Sea collab will go to KodeConnect, a Brockton-based nonprofit that breaks down educational barriers by providing underserved students the opportunity to engage with dynamic STEM resources.

“A focus on our community is one of the most important aspects of what we’re building,” added Alexandre. “When we open our taproom, we fully intend it to be not only a place for people of all backgrounds to enjoy quality beer and have good conversations, but a community space that gives back to the city.”

Brockton Beer Co. currently collaborates with multiple breweries around Massachusetts to brew limited batches of their beer. They are seeking investment via Mainvest, a crowd-sourcing platform that helps secure funding for small businesses, to help build their permanent home in the city of Brockton.

New Belgium Promotes Home Delivery of Voodoo Ranger 1985 IPA in Chicago

FORT COLLINS, Colo.– New Belgium Brewing’s Voodoo Ranger IPA will take over the streets of Chicago on July 15th, 2020 to deliver the brand’s newest rotating IPA release, 1985 IPA. In true Voodoo Ranger fashion, deliveries won’t be made in just any standard vehicle. The brand is taking it to the next level and transcending time, 35 years back in time, to be exact. Chicago beer fans will have the chance to order 1985 IPA through Minibar Delivery and have their beer delivered to them in a gigawatt time machine. Righteous!

The delivery approach is consistent with the bold and sometimes outlandish content featured on the @voodooranger Instagram handle that has become a fan favorite of beer drinkers everywhere. Voodoo Ranger debuted in 2017 and the brand has since catapulted in popularity. 1985 IPA is the newest rotating release and is bursting with juicy mango flavor, just in time for summer. This bright, fruit-forward IPA showcases a refreshing flavor and slightly lower ABV for bodacious drinkability.

“More people are utilizing beer delivery services than ever before,” said Dave Knospe, Brand Manager for Voodoo Ranger. “So, we thought, how can we bring a bit of fun to that experience? We’re excited to unveil 1985 IPA in such a nostalgic way. What’s better than beer delivery? Beer that’s delivered in a time machine!”

A portion of the delivery proceeds will be donated to the Comp Tab Relief Fund, totaling a minimum donation of $5,000 from Voodoo Ranger. The Comp Tab Relief Fund is a community-based fund created by and for hospitality professionals and will be a collective and equitable source of financial aid and resources for those in Chicagoland immediately affected by statewide closures.

For a chance to participate in this one-day-only event, beer and ‘80s fans alike can sign up now with Minibar Delivery and schedule an order for 1985 IPA for delivery between the hours of 2-7pm on July 15th, 2020, or they can order on-demand delivery between the hours of 2-7pm on July 15th, 2020. A selection of lucky fans will receive their delivery via a gigawatt time machine. Bust out those neon sunglasses and buckle up Chicago!

Voodoo Ranger 1985 IPA was brewed and canned with the following characteristics:
Alcohol 6.7% ABV
IBUs: 30
Style: Hazy, Juicy India Pale Ale
Hops: Citra, Simcoe and Cascade
Malt: Pale Malt, Oats and Wheat

Tucker Brewing Double Dry Hopped Pilsner now on tap

July 16, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

Tucker BrewingComing to the Tucker Brewing taproom tonight, July 16th, is the release of our Double Dry Hopped Pilsner.  Tucker Brewing uses a TON of hops to dry hop this beer. Starting with their classic TKR Pilsner, they dry hopped it with German Mandarina Bavaria hops and American Eureka! hops.

You will not find this beer super bitter, but bursting with aromamatics. This pilsner is also unfiltered to ensure a massive hop aroma. The Mandarina Bavaria hops deliver a citrus note while the Eureka! hops deliver a resinous, dank note. It’s the best of both worlds. Enjoy you hopheads, you. Order a growler ahead here.
