ABOUT Ghostfish Brewing Company

Prior to 2015, the beer industry was dominated by barley-based beverages, dangerous to consume for individuals with Celiac disease or living with a gluten intolerance. With loved ones unable to enjoy a relaxing brew, Ghostfish founders set out to disrupt the decades-old industry.

By pushing boundaries and not taking “no” as an answer, the team set forth on a mission to lead the beer industry in flavor, quality, and innovation. Working with artisan malters on the cutting edge of the craft, Ghostfish is one of the first breweries in the world to brew with a full-spectrum of malted gluten free grains.

Now, Ghostfish beers can be found in 17 US states, 2 Canadian provinces, and the U.K. The company brews all its beers for distribution in the historic industrial district of Seattle, Washington.

Adjacent to its production facility is a public Taproom where guests can experience limited release draft beers next to flagship favorites and indulge in pub classics from a menu of 100% gluten free food. For more information visit https://ghostfishbrewing.com/

Mother Earth Brewing Company Releases ‘Milk Truck’ Latte Stout

March 20, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Mother Earth BrewingVista, CA & Nampa, ID – Mother Earth’s year-round lineup is getting an upgrade this month as the CA and ID-based brewery welcomes a new dark ale into the ranks which they’ve appropriately dubbed a Latte Stout. Featuring vanilla, coffee, lactose, and oats, Milk Truck drinks like the coffeehouse favorite while still reminding the drinker that they are imbibing an adult beverage. Mother Earth’s Director of Brewing Operations, Chris Baker, provides insight on the inception of of the style:

“When we sat down to talk beer styles and flavor combinations to test, vanilla was an obvious place to start because we have a lot of experience with it, having produced Cali Creamin’ for over a decade. Once that became the primary flavor to build around, we wanted to add flavors that appeal to a lot of people and also stood out on their own without having to rely on the base beer style to necessarily drive the flavors. What you end up with is a really approachable beer that’s soft and drinkable. In some ways it’s the antithesis of most dark beer styles, which are known for being roasty and aggressive.”

Fans of Mother Earth’s other flagship ales such as Cali Creamin’ Vanilla Cream Ale and its orange-flavored sibling Cali Creamin’ Creamsicle, will feel right at home with Milk Truck, which favors drinkability and broad appeal over true stylistic adherence.

Like it’s other year-round beers, Mother Earth is hoping to go far & wide with distribution, leveraging its impressive network of almost 40 wholesalers across 18 states and numerous international ports, including Mexico, Australia, and the UK.

Milk Truck will be available in 12oz cans and limited draft where independent craft beers are sold. Customers can search for it near them using Mother Earth’s beer finder at findmotherearthbrewing.com. Need more info on this and future releases? Visit Mother Earth’s website and social media accounts for regular updates and breaking news.

This new format is easy to use and dose and features the same high level of efficacy as the original PBW.

Philadelphia’s First Black-Owned Brewery Two Locals Brewing Launches First Beers

March 20, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Two Locals BrewingPHILADELPHIA — Two Locals Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s first Black-owned brewery, announces the launch of its first beer releases starting this week. Under a new relationship with FCM Hospitality and Mainstay Independent Brewing, Two Locals Owners and Brewers Richard and Mengistu Koilorwill bring Nubian Brown Ale (5.7% ABV), Prolific Hazy IPA (6.4% ABV) and Who You Wit? Belgian-style Witbier (5.7% ABV) to the Philadelphia marketplace in 16 ounce cans, four packs and Sixtel kegs.

Nubain and Prolific will be available immediately for purchase online through twolocalsbrewing.com or through Craft Hall (901 N. Delaware) on Fridays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Who You Wit? will debut for sale later this Spring. All three beers will also be available for delivery through the BierMe app and for in-store purchase at area bottle shops, bars and restaurants as they become available . Follow Two Locals Brewing online for information about virtual beer tastings, in-person beer events, food and beer pairings with local chefs, and of course, new flavorful beers coming soon! Two Locals Brewing can be found at @twolocals on Instagram and @twolocalsbrewing on Facebook.

“Two Locals Brewing Company is excited to debut our first beers and begin sales to the public starting this week,” said Richard. “This moment has been a long time coming since our early days of homebrewing back in 2016. We are thankful to FCM Hospitality and Avram Hornik for their support – and believing not just in our product but also our long-term vision.”

“The craft beer world needs more representation and more people like us,” said Mengistu. “We want to release great craft beer we can be proud of, but we also have a larger social mission. There’s a very small percentage of craft breweries in the United States, and I think African Americans represent 1%. That needs to change. If you love beer, our brewing company is representative of our culture and we hope you will try us out. The time has come for our first releases and we are ready to make our mark on the craft beer scene.”

Two Locals Brewing Company is the first Black-owned independent brewery in Philadelphia and one of the first in the state of Pennsylvania. Owned and operated by brewers and brothers Richard and Mengistu Koilor, Two Locals aims to open up Philadelphia’s first Black-owned brick-and-mortar brewery and taphouse. The brothers also aim to create more awareness of craft beer in their own community, and to educate their community about professional opportunities within the craft brewing industry.

Since founding their company, the Koilor brothers have come a long way since their early homebrewing days dating back to 2016. After years of perfecting their craft, and sampling their brews at public events, the duo garnered new fans and public attention in 2020 when they joined forces with Harris Family Brewery and Double Eagle Malting to collaborate on Black is Beautiful beer at Callowhill’s Love City Brewing. Over $9,000 in proceeds was raised and donated to support Black Lives Matters.

As 2020 continued and the pandemic took a negative toll on businesses around the region, the brothers instead stayed positive, they looked ahead and they stood steadfast in their goals. As they continued to search for the perfect location for their eventual brick-and-mortar brewery, the duo continued to perfect their craft and recipes for their first official releases.

After meeting Hornik in 2020, the two brothers and Hornik regrouped in January of 2021 and a deal was struck that would help Two Locals bring their first brews to the public market. The three formalized their relationship in February. Hornik then introduced the brothers to Mainstay’s brewer and operate Brian O’Brien – and together the four would work together on the brewing, canning and production process while still having the Koilor brother’s as the sole owners of Two Locals Brewery.

“Avram and FCM Hospitality has the resources we need to get our business to the next level,” said Richard. “We have a solid following and by being able to brew beer and sell it, we can finally expand our business and get ourselves one step closer to our end goal. Avram is a smart businessman and he understands what we are trying to accomplish. We look forward to learning and growing together for this next stage of our company.

Hornik is known for his support of local businesses that are looking to expand, as seen in his partnerships with the famous Lost Bread Co. and Mainstay Independent Brewing at Craft Hall. This incubation period for Two Locals Brewery is his way to give his support to this budding new brand.

“I stand behind what Richard and Mengistu are doing with Two Locals Brewing,” said Hornik. “They are a talented and driven team who are working hard to expand awareness of craft beer in their community, all while they look to make history with their first brewery. FCM Hospitality designed Craft Hall as a unique open concept space to foster and support up-and-coming businesses that are expanding and seeking new opportunities. The entire complex and all of our affiliates and partners at Craft Hall help foster a better understanding of craftsmanship that goes into food and beverage production. We are thrilled to work with them and help them reach their goals – and we hope to work with them down the road as they expand their brewery beyond our walls.”

THREE NEW RELEASES

Two Locals Brewing Company is excited to formally launch their first three releases for sale to the general public starting with Nubian, Prolific and Who You Wit?. “We wanted to start with an IPA because people love IPA’s, and we knew we had a great product on our hands based on the reaction from everyone who tried it,” said Richard. “For our brown ale, we won second place at homebrew competition here in Philly, so that’s when we knew the brown ale was a pretty good beer to start with that represented us well.”

For their first release, Nubian is a brown ale that clocks in at 5.7% ABV, with a flavor profile with hints of fresh baked bread, nutty and medium roasted coffee. Nuvian wll be sold in 16 ounce cans, four packs and Sixtel kegs. Four packs will run $15.00 online, or $85.00 for a case.

“Nubain was inspired by wanting to expand space for brown ales in the beer market,” said Mengistu. “We wanted to create a beer that represents the complexion of our culture. We brewed Nubian with a complex malt base. This beer has a beautiful brown complexion with aromas and flavors of fresh baked bread, roasted nuts, and medium roasted coffee with a light touch of sweetness in the finish.”

For their second release, Two Locals introduces Prolific. This hazy IPA is 6.4% ABV, with a flavor profile featuring hings of mango nectar, guava and pineapple. Prolific wll be sold in 16 ounce cans, four packs and Sixtel kegs. Four packs will run $17.00 online, or $95.00 for a case.

“With Prolific, we wanted to create a juicy, flavorful IPA that is easy drinking and within the sweet spot with the ABV not too high and not too low,” said Richard. “We named it Prolific in respect to Nipsey Hussle. We want to be a prolific brewing company and produce a lot of beers and be prolific in giving back to our community. We brewed this beer with a prolific amount of oats and wheat, and whirlpooled it with a prolific amount of Simcoe and then DDH with more Simcoe and Mosaic. This beer has big notes of mango nectar, guava, and pineapple.”

Later this month, look for Who You Wit?, a Belgian-style Witbier with 5.7% ABV featuring citrus and clove hints with a peppery and crisp taste. Who You Wit? will be sold in 16 ounce cans, four packs and Sixtel kegs. This new product will be available in four packs and cases, with exact pricing being finalized in the near future.

“Who You Wit? is our beer that will serve as a good introduction to craft beer for those that don’t usually drink beer,” said Richard. “A belgian witbier must have orange peel and coriander in it and we use a good amount of lemon peel in addition to that for a nice citrus notes and makes it crisp.”

Nubian and Prolific are available immediately through twolocalsbrewing.com and find the brothers at Craft Hall, 901 N. Delaware Avenue on Fridays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Both will launch on BierMe for delivery, as well as in various bottle shops, bars and restaurants, later this month. Who You Wit? will be available for online and in-person sales next to Nubian and Prolific with the anticipated release date in mid-May.

Odell Brewing Releases Kindling Golden Ale

March 19, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Odell BrewingFORT COLLINS, Colo. — Odell Brewing is proud to announce the latest addition to their year-round lineup, Kindling, a refreshing Golden Ale with aromas of crisp malts and subtle citrus. Kindling will serve as the spokes-beer for the brewery’s charitable program and community outreach.

For many nonprofit organizations the focus is doing the work for the community they serve but their message doesn’t always reach a larger, broader audience. Odell Brewing will use Kindling Golden Ale as a platform to share the impact their partners make, amplify their message, and engage with new audiences.

“We’ve given Kindling a job to do, to share the Odell tradition of making a lasting positive impact in the communities where we do business,” explains Karla Baise of Odell Brewing’s Community Outreach. “This beer will tell the stories of the great work that our charitable partners do and invite fans to join us at our metaphorical campfire to raise a glass and toast to the impact our partners make.”

Since they founded the brewery in 1989, Doug, Wynne, and Corkie Odell have made philanthropy a central part of the business and culture at Odell Brewing. Over the decades the brewery has invested in their communities through donating to The Community Fund of Northern Colorado, supporting rotating annual seasonal partners, paid volunteer hours for co-workers, grants for projects, relief aid, and donating taproom space and beer for fundraising events. With the launch of Kindling Golden Ale, Odell Brewing has renamed their platform, “Odell Gives Back 1%”, which represents the brewery’s commitment to giving 1% of all revenue to their charitable programs and community outreach.

“Odell Gives Back is even bigger than Kindling,” explains Odell Brewing CEO Eric Smith. “By tying our give directly to our revenue we’re connecting the intention to each beer we brew. Every six pack, keg, and pint sold at each taproom and across our 20 state distribution adds to the annual contribution.”

Along with the release of Kindling, Odell Brewing is launching a six week campaign that highlights their charitable partners and showcases the work they do in the community in order to raise awareness around their impact and needs. This year their Charitable Partners include but are not limited

Fort Collins Cultural Enrichment Center was founded in May of 2020 to address the cultural, academic, career, and social needs of middle school and high school African American students in Fort Collins.
The Growing Project promotes an environmentally and socially just local food system through direct agricultural experiences, education, economic opportunities, and advocacy.
Wildlands Restoration Volunteers is a Colorado nonprofit that provides opportunities for people to come together, learn about their natural environment, and take direct action to restore and care for the land.
The Gathering Place is the only daytime drop-in center in metropolitan Denver that serves women, transgender individuals, and their children who are experiencing poverty or homelessness.
Inspired by traditional brewing techniques, Kindling Golden Ale is the culmination of over a year of R&D on both the Fort Collins and Denver RiNo Brewhouse Pilot Systems. Brewed with premium malts and one of Odell’s house yeast strains, this 5% Golden Ale boasts bright citrus and peach aromas and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Kindling Golden Ale is now available on draft and in 6-pack cans. This beer will be one of Odell’s brand priorities for 2021 and is currently available in Colorado, with plans to increase distribution through their 20-state footprint over the year. March 19, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

The BrueryORANGE COUNTY, CA — Pucker up, The Bruery is launching its next seasonal release: Just a Kiss, a foeder-aged saison ale with orange blossom flowers and locally sourced California honey.

Inspired by the rich agricultural history of The Bruery’s backyard in Orange County, Just a Kiss is an ode to the orange groves that once thrived in the area. Baxter Brewing Adds Coastal Haze IPA to Year-Round Lineup

March 19, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Baxter BrewingLEWISTON, Maine — A new addition to the Baxter family of core beers will make its debut later this month. Coastal Haze [5.9% ABV] will be the brewery’s year-round hazy IPA offering, and the fifth in the brewery’s core lineup.

“The development of Coastal Haze was a fun process,” says Baxter Brewing Quality Director, Merritt Waldron. “ We took what we learned from using new hoping techniques in Ice Storm of ’98 and applied them to Coastal Haze. [It’s] packed full of Citra, Mosaic, and Loral hops that provide notes of bright citrus, stone fruit, and berries.”

For Director of Sales, Brian DeVinney, the release of Coastal Haze represents a much-earned reward in patience, as the brand went through several tweaks before its first run. “Our production team has been working hard to fine tune the recipe, and we are really excited to bring it to market and get it into people’s hands.”

“We have been talking about Coastal Haze since I came on board last Summer,” adds DeVinney. “The feedback on the branding from our distributor partners and retailers has been very positive. Our sales team feels like we’re on the verge of something very special with the release of this beer.”

Coastal Haze will join Logger Road, Staycation Land lager, Couple More Miles IPA, and Stowaway IPA in Baxter’s core brand portfolio. Coming off the heels of Baxter’s successful Ice Storm of ’98 Winter NEIPA campaign, brewery President Jenn Lever is confident that consumers will laud their new year-round beer as much as their latest seasonal: “We could not be more excited to follow up Ice Storm of ’98 with a beer that will quench the thirst of those fans, and bring them a year-round product that rounds out our lineup in a whole new way!”

Coastal Haze will be available next week in half- and sixth-barrels, and in 6- and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans across Baxter Brewing’s distribution network.

About Baxter Brewing Company

Baxter Brewing Company is the third-largest brewery in Maine by volume and is the first brewery in New England to offer its entire lineup exclusively in cans. Baxter brews beer for a sense of adventure, with grit and integrity. Enjoy these all-season, any-weather beers at The Pub (next door to the Baxter Brewery in the historic Lewiston Bates Mill) or on the trail (during an outdoor even produced by Baxter Outdoors). Anheuser-Busch and Travis Scott Launch Cacti Agave Spiked Seltzer

March 18, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Anheuser BuschNEW YORK – Diamond certified recording artist, songwriter, producer, fashion mogul and overall creative force, Travis Scott is set to release his newest venture CACTI™ Agave Spiked Seltzer nationwide tomorrow as a founder with America’s leading brewer, Anheuser-Busch. Originally announced in December, CACTI™ Agave Spiked Seltzer is the future of the seltzer category. The 7% ABV seltzer made with 100% premium blue agave from Mexico will be available in 3 flavors at launch; Pineapple, Strawberry & Lime.

Earlier this evening, Scott introduced fans to the world of CACTI™ for the first time with a new TV commercial which debuted during the 2021 GRAMMY Awards. Brought to life by Scott’s unparalleled creative vision, the commercial traces a fantastical CACTI™ origin story. From there, it follows CACTI™ Agave Spiked Seltzer as it is delivered to a local store for all (21+) to enjoy. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the spot features cameos from comedian and actor Eric Andre as well as Travis Scott himself. Fans can watch the full commercial here.

“Finally getting CACTI out into the world and into the hands of fans is a surreal moment for me and the team,” said Travis Scott. “This has been something I had a strong vision for and have wanted to do for a while. It was important to me to be heavily involved in the entire creative process; from the flavor obviously, to the can design, packaging and the entirety of the brand world we’ve built. I sought to create a beverage brand that was unlike others in the market. Our Agave Spiked Seltzer is super refreshing and smooth, and the brand in general is something that I’m super proud of. We built this project from the ground up together and this is just the beginning.”

Scott and his Cactus Jack creative collective developed the CACTI™ brand from the ground up alongside Anheuser-Busch’s industry-leading team. The launch of CACTI™ represents two iconic innovators coming together and rethinking not only what a typical partnership can look like, but also what the next chapter of the seltzer category can be.

This is a true partnership, not a limited edition “drop” or one-off collaboration. CACTI™ marks Travis’ first foray into the beverage space and represents a long-term priority for all parties involved as they continue to revolutionize the beverage industry.

“Travis’ creative vision matched with our industry-leading capabilities has unlocked something really special,” said Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “We’re a company built on big dreams and Travis is a challenger in today’s pop culture scene who brings unrivaled influence among adult consumers. In 2020, Anheuser-Busch led the industry in innovations and we plan to continue that momentum throughout 2021 and beyond with the release of CACTI and our relationship with Travis Scott.”

Brewed in Los Angeles, CACTI™ Agave Spiked Seltzer’s use of 100% premium blue agave from Mexico coupled with bold fruit flavor makes it unlike anything on the market today. CACTI™ is available nationwide in 12oz cans sold in a 9 count Variety Pack with the flavors Lime, Pineapple and Strawberry, as well as 16oz and 25oz singles sold in Lime and Pineapple. CACTI™ is made with water, cold fermented cane sugar, agave syrup, and a hint of lime juice. It does not contain tequila.

Baxter Brewing Brings Back ‘Muddy Boots,’ Honors Women’s History Month

March 18, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Baxter BrewingLEWISTON, Maine — In honor of Women’s History Month, Baxter Brewing Company has just released this year’s batch of Muddy Boots Trail Mix Brown Ale. Based on a recipe by Baxter Brewing President, Jenn Lever, Muddy Boots debuted in 2020 as part of the brewery’s philanthropic “Passion Project” beer series. The beer’s name is a play on the Pink Boots Society with an homage to the state of Maine.

“The pilot version of this beer was the very first beer I ever brewed in 2017,” says Lever. “Add a pair of our favorite boots from our favorite state, and you have a beer we all look forward to.”

For non-production members of Baxter’s team, this year’s run of Muddy Boots represents a new opportunity to venture onto the brew floor and be a direct part of the beer’s creation. New Hampshire Territory Sales Manager, Becca Hardin, took part in this year’s brew. “Being given the opportunity to assist on brew days isn’t always an option, but with Muddy Boots, it’s a priority,” says Hardin. “Pairing that opportunity with [the beer] being featured in our ‘Passion Project’ series shows that there are no limits for women in this industry.”

Sarah Towsley, who directs Baxter’s Human Resources, also recognizes the unique opportunity to pull away from daily duties to take part in the collaborative process. “Muddy Boots Trail Mix is extremely special. It’s not just because my role doesn’t typically offer me the chance to brew, but because I’m helping to make an inspirational product, alongside women who motivate me, in an industry we are all passionate about.”

Muddy Boots Trail Mix is a 7% ABV Brown Ale made with raisins, dark chocolate, and natural peanut flavor. The latest in Baxter’s series of philanthropic beer projects, a portion of the proceeds will go The Pink Boots Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities for women in the beer industry.

“There’s something more refreshing about drinking a beer created for a cause,” adds Towsley. “Muddy Boots is an extremely delicious example of what women in the beer industry achieve together with [the] hope other women will be encouraged to go for their dream jobs in beer.”

Muddy Boots is now available across Baxter Brewing’s Maine distribution footprint.
