Dogfish Head Launches Let’s Get Lost American Single Malt Whiskey

July 28, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Dogfish HeadMilton, Del. – Dogfish Head Distilling Co. excitedly announces the launch of its first single malt whiskey,Let’s Get Lost (51% ABV). Making its way to shelves now, Let’s Get Lost is an award-winning American Single Malt Whiskey distilled from a custom blend of malted barley and aged onsite for more than three years in charred oak barrels. The resulting caramel-colored liquid is layered with nuanced flavors that are both warming and enticing, rousing drinkers’ senses and inviting them to take another sip. Beginning in early August,Let’s Get Lost will be available in 750ml bottles in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington. Whiskey lovers local to coastal Delaware can pick up a bottle NOW at one ofDogfish Head’s hospitality locations – the Off-Centered EmPOURium in Rehoboth and the Tasting Room & Kitchen in Milton.

“All our scratch-made spirits are crafted alongside our beers using the same all-natural, high-quality culinary ingredients, each taking ample time and a whole lot of thoughtful experimentation to develop, test and perfect,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “Let’s Get Lost has been a multi-year labor-of-love made possible by the hard work and ingenuity of our awesomely talented distilling co-workers. Last year, around the holidays, we released a limited quantity of Let’s Get Lost at our coastal Delaware properties and it sold out almost immediately! That’s when we knew we were onto something, so we submitted samples toWhiskey Advocate and the L.A. Spirits Awards. Respectively, Let’s Get Lost earned a 92-point “Outstanding” rating and claimed aGold Medal in the American Single Malt Category.”

One of America’s earliest craft distilleries,Dogfish Head Distilling Co. has been distilling scratch-made spirits since 2002. Using its nearly two decades of experience, the distillery has created an award-winning array of vodkas, gins, rums, whiskeys and more. In addition to its full-proof spirits, earlier this year, Dogfish Head Distilling Co. introduced a lineup of three ready-to-drinkCanned Cocktails – Blueberry Shrub Vodka Soda, Strawberry & Honeyberry Vodka Lemonade andCherry Bergamot Whiskey Sour. Available nationwide in 4pk/12oz cans, each recipe is carefully crafted and artfully blended for an authentic, bar-quality taste.

As Dogfish Head Distilling Co. continues to expand its list of offerings, Innovation Manager James Montero comments on the distillery’s creative inspiration. “AtDogfish Head, we are firm believers in the importance of exploring goodness.Let’s Get Lost invites drinkers on that journey with us, encouraging them to get lost in the liquid’s alluring layers of flavors and then, to share that experience with their friends and family for even more enjoyment.Let’s Get Lost is – no doubt – our most robust, high-end and in my opinion, our most special whiskey yet and I can’t wait to see what folks think of it.”

Hopworks Releases 3 New Beers

July 25, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

HopworksCHICO, CA – Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. announced the second season of Doing Big Things: A Music Benefit Series, in partnership with COLLiDE Agency. The series shines a light on musicians who are doing big things to make a difference in their communities, and aligns with Sierra Nevada’s long-time passion for music and community.
PORTLAND, Ore. – Hopworks Urban Brewery (HUB), the first B Corp brewery in the Pacific Northwest, is releasing three new beers just in time for Independence Day celebrations. Both Ace of Spades IIPA and When Life Gives You Blueberries Sour are made with hops and fruits from fellow Salmon-Safe Certified B Corp Roy Farms, and Evelyn Sunshine IPA is brewed in honor of the birthday of HUB founders Christian and Brandie Ettinger’s daughter.

“Roy Farms’ hops are really showcased in this year’s Ace of Spades Imperial IPA; we put just about every hop we had in this brew. I’d tell you which ones, but they’re HOP SECRET!” quipped Matt Speckenbach, Head Brewer at Hopworks. “Roy Farms’ blueberries are also a key ingredient in our summer sour. As we like to say, When Life Gives You Blueberries, make a blueberry kettle sour!”

Evelyn Sunshine IPA is an annual brew that marks the summertime birthday of the Ettinger’s daughter. It’s available on tap only at Hopworks’ two locations on SE Powell Boulevard in Portland and SE Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver, Washington.

“14 years ago, Evelyn Sunshine Ettinger came into our lives with rays so bright we tucked them into her middle name. We named her Sunshine for a few hours before chickening out and officially named her Evelyn after her Great Grandmother Forest Evelyn Laufer,” said Christian Ettinger, Founder & Brewmaster. “So, as one does, you brew 600 gallons of over-hopped IPA to commemorate such a glorious occasion! This 14th version clocks in at 7.0% ABV with a light body that allows the ultraviolet hop spectrum to pass through! She’s classic and new world all at the same time. She and we hope you enjoy!”

Ace of Spades IIPA ($15) and When Life Gives You Blueberries Sour ($10) are available on tap and in 16 oz. 4-packs at independent grocers and both Hopworks locations.

Evelyn Sunshine West Coast IPA:

Light and bright like the summer sun, Evelyn Sunshine lets the hops shine through with notes of orange citrus and ripe peach with a deep, northwest dankness. 7.0% ABV. 80 IBU. Releases June 30th.

Ace of Spades IIPA:

This beast is hopped out with Cascade, Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe, Waimea, Cryo Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Amarillo hops. Great big grapefruit aromas are complemented by ripe peach and cotton candy waves. Finishes with a classic NW pineyness. The malt stands back and lets the hops shine through. 8.6% ABV. 100 IBU. Releases July 2nd.

When Life Gives You Blueberries Sour:

Fresh blueberries and lemon create the ultimate summertime sour reminiscent of your neighborhood lemonade stand. Made with 100% traceable and organic blueberries from Roy Farms in Eastern Washington. 5.5% ABV. 9 IBU. Releases July 2nd.

July 25, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Big DropBOSTON, Massachusetts – It’s ‘bottoms-up’ for New England’s non-alcoholic beer fans as NA-only brewer – Big Drop Brewing Co – announces its partnership with the independent craft beer distributor, Craft Collective.

As a result, three of the most popular styles from Big Drop’s range (Galactic Extra Dark, Pine Trail Pale and Paradiso IPA) are now available to grocery stores, bars and restaurants in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine. For example, three groups where stock is landing are Total Wine, Craft Beer Cellar, Liquor Junction, and Kappy’s, plus many high-quality independent retailers. Big Drop is also available online but this partnership now brings Big Drop face-to-face with consumers in a total of six states (including Illinois, Michigan and Minneapolis).

Established in the UK but now brewed in the US (at Great Central Brewery, Chicago) Big Drop has broken new ground in the NA beer category by winning international accolades and multiple global beer awards. These include two Gold Medals from the U.S. Open Beer Championship and four times “World’s Best” from the World Beer Awards, as well as the ‘Holy Grail’ of any NA drink: beating full-strength rivals in blind-tastings. It has also attracted a total of $9m in equity investment to help boost its US expansion and board advisors that include Mark Hunter, the former Global CEO of Molson Coors, and Stefan Orlowski, former President Europe of Heineken.

Rob Fink, Founder & CEO of Big Drop, commented: “The timing could not be better, both for us and for any New Englanders who appreciate their beer. With interest in the whole NA category on the rise and a big summer on the cards, there’s a place at the table for beers that don’t compromise on taste, even if they only come in at 0.5% abv. And who better than Craft Collective to understand the market, seize the opportunity and make it happen.”

WISEACRE Introduces Two New Year-Round Beers

July 24, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

WISEACREMEMPHIS, Tennessee – WISEACRE Brewing Company will launch two new year-round beers this summer: Irusu Rice Lager and Puffel Hazy Double IPA. The introduction of these two brews will also represent two new packaging opportunities, with Irusu offered in a 15-pack and Puffel coming first in a 4-pack of 16-ounce cans and later in a 19.2-ounce stovepipe can.

“I was able to take a magical trip to Japan with a friend who was born there, and I fell even more in love with the country I had admired from afar for most of my life,” explained co-founder and brewmaster Davin Bartosch. “It is out of the Japanese tradition of super dry rice lager that Irusu was born. This beer has a gentle, smooth taste and a dry, palate-cleansing finish. Our artist Rachel Briggs knocked it out of the park yet again with the label, which was influenced by ukiyo-e woodblock art.”

“Puffel is a completely different story!” Davin continued. “This beer will be right at 9% ABV and is new age-y with the hazy appearance and hop character. The hop variety is something new for us, we are thrilled that we got our hands on enough of the highly sought-after New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops to commit to Puffel being a year round beer.”

“Not that we take this notion too seriously, but with these two beer releases, we are bringing balance into the universe,” said Kellan Bartosch, WISEACRE co-founder. “On one hand, Irusu is the lightest beer we’ve ever made at 99 calories. In contrast, Puffel will be massive in every way, from mouthfeel to aroma, and flavor.” He added, “We’re also excited about the new packaging options, which offer different values and purchasing opportunities for the wide variety of WISEACRE fans.”

The addition of Irusu Rice Lager and Puffel Hazy Double IPA bring WISEACRE’s year-round offerings to a total of 10 beers, each of which are available in a variety of packages: -Tiny Bomb Pilsner (Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medalist) – 6-pack cans, 16oz cans, 12 packs, and as part of WISEACRE’s 12-can variety pack -Gotta Get Up to Get Down Coffee Milk Stout – 6-pack cans, 12 packs, and as part of WISEACRE’s 12-can variety pack -Ananda India Pale Ale – 6-pack cans, 12 packs, and as part of WISEACRE’s 12-can variety pack -Bow Echo Hazy IPA – 6-pack cans and 16oz cans -Memphis Sands Lager – 12-pack cans, 16oz cans -Regular Pale Ale – 6-pack cans and 16oz cans -Beach Within Reach Berliner Weisse – 6-pack cans -Adjective Animal – 4-pack 12oz cans

WISEACRE also brews four seasonal beers that share the same barcode and come in 6-packs and as part of WISEACRE’s 12-can variety pack. Additionally, WISEACRE periodically offers specialty, limited-run beers such as fruited sours, barrel-aged brews, Belgian styles, supper hoppy and obscure beers, which are typically available in 4-can packs and as large format bottles.

WISEACRE is currently sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington DC and, of course, Tennessee.

ABOUT WISEACRE

WISEACRE Brewing Company opened in Memphis, Tennessee in 2013 after brothers and Memphis natives Davin and Kellan Bartosch gained experience working in the brewing industry around the country. Since then, WISEACRE has grown to have two brewery and taproom locations, more than 60 employees and distribution in fifteen states, and has made more 170 beers ranging from German lagers, to hoppy American styles, complex and boozy Belgian beers, and barrel aging beers to boot.

Ales on Rails on Tap this Fall at Verde Canyon Railroad

July 24, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Ales on RailsCLARKDALE, Arizona – The first sign of autumn isn’t always the changing of the leaves; sometimes it’s the changing of the kegs. When the air turns crisp, and pint glasses are raised in celebration, it can only mean that Oktoberfest has arrived. Ales on Rails is Verde Canyon Railroad’s way of toasting this German tradition, providing a rollicking farewell to summer beginning Tuesday, September 14, and running through Sunday, October 31, 2021. Sample a wide range of local Arizona breweries, richly crafted beers ranging from the lightest pilsners to the hoppiest IPAs to the deepest stouts the Copper State has to offer.

Now in its 19th year, the very popular Ales on Rails season always sells out in advance and may be reserved to include a Verde Canyon Railroad logo beer glass with four beer-tasting tickets, a made-to-order lunch from the Copper Spike Cafe and a large selection of tasty Arizona-brewed craft beers for only $125 per person. The party begins on the depot patio from 10:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., with beer on tap prior to the train’s 1:00 p.m. departure. The fun continues onboard as highlighted beers of the day are available for purchase during the ride. Enjoy Ales on Rails while marveling at the colorful Verde Canyon scenery during this refreshing fall journey.

Echoing the celebration of amber brews are the brilliant bronze and gold colors vividly on display throughout Mother Nature’s masterpiece during the Fall Colors Tour, with autumn foliage ranging from chartreuse to ginger, and vermillion to violet, for a wide range of striking seasonal hues. If all four seasons were mixed together and the very best was skimmed off the top, it would be autumn. Radiant colors and mild temperatures, with a hint of briskness in the air, charges Verde Canyon with fresh energy. Residents of the Verde Canyon, as well as visitors, feel the seasonal change. Wildlife sightings increase as deer, javelina, coyote and other Arizona creatures become more active during the cooler daylight hours.

Leave the confines of city life in favor of high-spirited fun on an unforgettable journey around every bend and over every bridge as the train winds through its beautiful and historic red-rock corridor this autumn. Surrounded by the colors of the season, the flavors of Arizona, the curves of the Verde River, a trip aboard the train inspires wonder – and fills cameras.

The Verde Canyon Railroad depot is in Clarkdale, Arizona, 25 minutes southwest of Sedona and two hours north of Phoenix.

Statewide Craft Beer Trail Launches for Oklahoma

July 23, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Oklahoma Craft BeerOKLAHOMA – The Craft Brewers Association of Oklahoma (CBAO) and Oklahoma Agritourism announced their partnership in launching the state’s first Craft Beer Trail in a press conference held at Lively Beerworks in Oklahoma City Tuesday, July 20.

The Trail boasts 60 Oklahoma craft breweries with five distinct regions – Central, Northeast, Northwest, Southwest and Southeast. The trail gives Oklahoma a unique sector in the ag industry through their agritourism programs as breweries have also partnered with the Made in Oklahoma program and Made in Oklahoma Coalition.

The branding, developed by Brian Welzbacher with BeerisOK.com, hones in on finding your craft and the use of a compass to navigate your way across the trail. Inspired by the Southwest with the colors, Welzbacher. also incorporated the four elements of brewing in the design including the hop cone pointing north, three arms representing barley chaff and four small dots that are representing the yeast surrounded by water.

“Our craft beer industry continues to grow in Oklahoma with an economic impact of $700 million a year,” said CBAO executive director Tabbi Burwell. “As we develop this trail and continue to push for more tourism in taprooms, a craft beer trail only helps put our state on the map after years of pushing for modernization.”

The Craft Brewers Association of Oklahoma, Inc. (CBAO) is dedicated to educating and creating awareness among legislators, regulators and the general public of the issues facing the craft brewing industry in Oklahoma, and to promoting a healthy economic environment that enables public choices in the marketplace for the consumer, and opportunity and access to the marketplace by Oklahoma breweries. Oklahoma Agritourism is a marketing program within the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The program promotes agriculture experiences throughout the state.

CraftHausLAS VEGAS – Local favorite CraftHaus Brewery is proudly the official craft beer of the The Mint 400. Silver State Mint 400 collector’s edition can be shipped or reserved for onsite pick up at CraftHaus.

The Mint 400 is the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America and is held in the treacherous foothills of Sin City. The multi-day event features a massive vehicle parade down the world famous Las Vegas Strip, a two day festival on historic Fremont Street, and two days of grueling off-road racing on a desolate and punishing 400-mile racecourse. Nearly 65,000 off-road and recreational enthusiasts come to watch 500 race teams in 50+ classes from 25 different states and 15 different countries go door-to-door, while the Livestream coverage is beamed to more than 800,000 viewers worldwide.

“We are excited to partner with local Las Vegas brewery CraftHaus as our Official Craft Beer of The Mint 400,” said Mint 400 CEO, Matt Martelli. “Not only do they have great beer, but are passionate about building a community around consistent quality-driven beers, while honoring the integrity of the craft industry. Beer is a part of the DNA of off-road culture. Climbing out of your race car and celebrating your finish by having beers with your team is the way we celebrate after a grueling race. CraftHaus’ cold Silver State Mint 400 Blonde Ale will be waiting for all of our finishers at the finish line after 400 grueling miles of war.”

The 2021 Silver State Mint 400 Blonde Ale is a name that reflects Nevada’s pioneering spirit. Clocking in at 4.8% ABV, it is thirst-quenching and has round notes of caramel wash over your pallet for a clean finish. Brew lovers will receive a free Mint 400 pint glass for reserving their six pack online for onsite pick up at either CraftHaus location. The special six packs can be found locally where CraftHaus is sold andshipped to those living in Nevada, Alaska, Washington DC, Florida, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania.
