Second Self’s Molé Porter Returns for Fall & Winter

September 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Second Self'sATLANTA, Georgia – Second Self Beer Co. — the Atlanta craft beverage incubator behind award-winning beers and brands like Rudi’s Hard Seltzer and CBD-infused sparkling water Cirrus — announces the return of the brewery’s beloved seasonal Molé Porter (6.5% ABV), a spiced chocolate porter brewed with chiles, cinnamon, cloves and cocoa nibs. The fan-favorite is available on draft and in cans at the Westside taproom (1317 Logan Circle Northwest) today with distribution throughout Georgia and Alabama forthcoming. Later this winter, Second Self will release four limited-time-only variations of the porter on draft in the taproom – Coffee, Vanilla, Coconut and S’Mores.

Crafted to be enjoyed throughout fall and winter, the Molé Porter recipe is inspired by Cofounder and Beer Architect Jason Santamaria’s family recipe of Oaxacan molé sauce and has been a staple in Second Self’s seasonal line-up for over three years. The beer features a bold and robust flavor featuring California, pasella and chipotle chiles with notes of cinnamon, cloves and cocoa nibs. The ingredients come together to create a unique and distinctive spiced chocolate porter. Pairings for Molé Porter include smoked pork or beef tacos, hearty stews & chilis, gruyere cheese and savory chocolate desserts.

Second Self’s Molé Porter can be purchased on draft or in cans starting today through early May 2022 at the Westside tasting room and in shops, bars and restaurants throughout Georgia and Alabama in the following weeks.

ABOUT SECOND SELF BEER COMPANY

Second Self’s Cofounders Jason Santamaria and Chris Doyle released their highly acclaimed beers to the public in fall 2014, and since then the brewery has expanded twice, with increases in production capabilities and growth into markets across Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. Their Westside brewery, located at 1317 Logan Circle NW, Atlanta, GA, is open to the public for tastings on Wednesday through Sunday, and event info can be found here. Second Self has been nationally recognized by The Wall Street Journal, Food & Wine, DRAFT Magazine, Beer Advocate, Fortune, Paste Magazine and many more.

Griffin Claw Releases Collaboration Beer for World Down Syndrome Month

September 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Griffin ClawMICHIGAN – Griffin Claw Brewing Company has launched a collaboration beer initiative called TRI-21 Project, open to any brewery in the United States, to raise awareness for individuals with Down syndrome. TRI-21 will kick off in October, during World Down Syndrome Month, to raise support for GiGi’s Playhouse locations across the nation.

“The TRI-21 Project has been a labor of love of mine since 2015 when my second son, Ian, was born with Down syndrome. From the first few weeks he was born, the thought always ran through my head of “how can I tap into this incredible industry filled with awesome people to raise awareness for Down syndrome,” said Pat Craddock, CFO of Griffin Claw.

“GiGi’s Playhouse is honored to partner with Griffin Claw Brewing Company and their associates on this incredible mission to raise awareness and acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome”, said Josh Binder of Gigi’s Playhouse, “Having the opportunity to collaborate with not only a parent of a child with Down syndrome, but also with an organization and community who believes in our mission is a true blessing. We often use the phrase stronger-together, and the Tri-21 Project is a perfect example of diverse communities coming together for a common cause”.

GiGi’s Playhouse is an achievement center for individuals with Down syndrome, founded by Nancy Gianni in Hoffman Estates in 2003, and has since grown to over 50 locations in the US from cost-to-coast. GiGi’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global acceptance of all.

Any brewery can visit the Tri-21 Project website, register to participate, and download all the information including the recipe, label artwork, and discount codes for raw materials from participating vendors. TRI-21 Project requests that a portion of the proceeds from the TRI-21 Project beer are donated to GiGi’s Playhouse.

Baxter Brewing Release New Sea to Summit Kolsch-Style Ale

September 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Baxter BrewingLewiston, ME – Maine’s beloved Sea to Summit race series has once again been canceled due to the pandemic, but the series’ official namesake beer marches on! The Mount Desert Island marathon, held every year in October, was recently canceled for the second year in a row. Sea to Summit [5.0% ABV], a longstanding offering in Baxter Brewing’s Passion Project line, will still be available for a limited time in select retailers throughout Maine. And this year’s batch will give imbibers an all new, revamped beer drinking experience.

Despite the race cancellation, Baxter Brewing President, Jenn Lever, is eager for the race community to try the updated brew. “The change to this year’s release comes with a lot of excitement from our team,” says Lever. “This is our first Kolsch-style Ale on the production system, and we hope that runners are as excited as we are to celebrate their accomplishments with a beer we hope they love!”

Like all of the beers in Baxter’s Passion Project catalog, proceeds from sales will benefit a local Maine cause. Sea to Summit Kolsch will help support Friends of Acadia and Katahdin Woods and Waters, two organizations dedicated to the preservation of public land in Maine.

“[We] are honored to be part of this collaboration celebrating two great marathons and two great parks, says Friends of Acadia President & CEO, David MacDonald.  “We thank Baxter Brewing for sharing the proceeds from Sea to Summit, and we pledge to put them to good use preserving and protecting what makes Acadia National Park so special.  All of us at FOA are also excited to build upon yet another connection with our partners to the north at Friends of Katahdin Woods and Waters.”

While this year’s races may be canceled, craft beer lovers across Maine will be able to enjoy Baxter’s debut Kolsch which Quality Director Merritt Waldron describes as “crisp and clean with a bready, grassy malt body.”

Merritt continues, “Sea to Summit has a lot of floral and herbaceous hop aromas. We used Noble hops and traditional German yeast to pay homage to the traditional Kolsch-style ales of Koeln, Germany.”

Sea to Summit Kolsch Ale will be available in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans from September to December in Maine wherever Baxter Brewing products are sold.

About Baxter Brewing Company

Baxter Brewing Company is the third-largest brewery in Maine by volume and is the first brewery in New England to offer its entire lineup exclusively in cans. Shiner Beers Releases New Shiner 1909, Celebrating 112 Years of Independent Craft Brewing

September 25, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Shiner BeersShiner, TX – Shiner, the independent, family-owned makers of the iconic Shiner Bock, announce a new beer honoring their 112-year history. Shiner 1909 is a small-batch lager brewed with heritage ingredients celebrating the history, endurance, and Texas heritage of the Spoetzl Brewery.

Every drop of Shiner beer is proudly brewed and bottled in Shiner, Texas at the same brewery founded in 1909 by a group of Czech and German settlers. In 1914, a Bavarian named Kosmos Spoetzl joined the Shiner brewery, finding success using his signature recipe, a combination of old-world Bavarian techniques and his own secret, innovative twist. Kosmos created a legacy with Shiner beers that became a cult classic in Texas and beyond. Today, Shiner Bock is the #1 craft beer in Texas.

Inspired by the simple ingredients Shiner’s brewers used in 1909, their founding year, Shiner 1909 is crafted with Heritage 2-row barley, Noble hops, Shiner’s proprietary lager yeast and water from the same artesian well the founders discovered over a century ago. The result is a light-bodied lager with a toasty aroma, rich malt flavor and a crisp, refreshing finish. “We’re so proud to launch Shiner 1909 in celebration of the brewery’s rich history. For 112 years, Shiner has brewed flavorful, refreshing and sessionable beers, becoming a favorite not only of Texans but of beer lovers nationwide. With this new release, we’re paying respect to our past while toasting to the future, and we’re making it available year-round so we’ll all be able to celebrate our birthday every day of the year,” says Matt Pechman, Spoetzl Brewing’s Head of Marketing.

Shiner 1909 (4.5% ABV) is available now nationwide and comes in 6 or 12-bottle packs.

About Shiner and the Spoetzl Brewery

The Spoetzl Brewery was founded in Shiner, Texas (population 2,069), in 1909, by Czech and German immigrants brewing beer with old-world traditions and recipes for Central Texas. Since then, the brewery has grown to be one of the largest independent craft brewers in the country with beers available in all 50 states and Mexico. To this day, every drop of the award-winning beer is brewed right in Shiner, TX, where it all started 111 years ago.

Lone Tree Brewing Hop Zombie Returns for One Day Only Release

September 24, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Lone Tree Brewing

LONE TREE, Colorado – When Imperial Red IPA is ready, the dead will walk the Earth. Or, at least, make their way to Lone Tree Brewing Company to try a taste.

Fan favorite Hop Zombie will be released on draft and in cans on October 30th, just in time to stock up for Halloween. A tasting room only release, this year’s Hop Zombie cans will be available to purchase individually, in 6-packs, or by the case— but only while supplies last. There will be a very limited amount of themed glassware and custom t-shirts available for purchase as well.

Those looking to get spooky for the holiday should show up early, as this beer tends to sell out in just one day. Another early bird incentive: The first ten people in line will go home with a free limited edition zombie glass.

Deep red in color, Hop Zombie IPA is complex and bold in flavor and aroma. Rich malts are balanced by huge hop flavor and aroma created by a total of eight different hops— Citra, Columbus, Cascade, Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial, and Motueka.

Packing all the punch of an undead monster, Hop Zombie rounds in at a whopping 8.9 percent ABV and 90 IBUs. It’s not for the faint of heart, even if it’s namesake doesn’t have one.

ABOUT LONE TREE BREWING COMPANY

Lone Tree Brewing Company was the first brewery in Lone Tree, Colorado that opened near Park Meadows Mall in 2011. The neighborhood-focused, family-friendly brewery and tasting room regularly hosts community events that gather around a stylistically diverse lineup of flagship, seasonal, and limited release beers. Lone Tree’s cans are sold across the state of Colorado, and in select locations in Kansas. Its draft beer is poured at many bars and restaurants across its distribution footprint as well.

Buoy Beer Company Adds to Year-Round Lineup of 12 oz. Cans

September 24, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Buoy Brewing

ASTORIA, Oregon – Buoy Beer Company recently released Buoy Pacific Pale Ale, adding to their year-round lineup of 12oz cans. More than two years since the release of their Cream Ale, the brewery has seen a rapid growth and expansion, making it possible for the brewers to increase Buoy’s packaged selections.

“Over the past 7 years it has felt like things have never slowed down,” says David Kroening, Co-Founder. “The love our customers have for our beers keeps us driven to constantly analyze, pivot, and grow. We’re forever on the quest to make delicious, quality beer and innovate in new ways to keep our patrons happy.”

Fresh, citrusy, and tropical, Buoy Pacific Pale Ale carries you away to where the ocean is limitless, the mountains are painted, and the back yard is filled with forests and streams. Balanced with bright tropical hops and a subtle malt bill, Pacific Pale captures the wonderland of the Pacific Northwest. Featuring Citra, Cashmere, and El Dorado hops, it joins year-round Buoy IPA, Czech Pilsner, and Cream Ale as a hoppy, low-ABV choice coming in at 5%.

“Before they were called session IPAs, fresh, hoppy, low-ABV beers were called pale ales,” says Matt Jones, Head Brewer. “This pale ale takes the classic NW hop bitterness and balances it with bright aromas. Personally, I also get a little strawberry and myrcene in the aromas coming off the can.”

Buoy has been able to add to their packaged selections because of the brewery’s physical expansion this year. The new building on Astor Street (across the parking lot from the Buoy building) now houses a new 50 bbl four-vessel brewhouse with new fermentation tanks, original fermentation tanks flown in via crane from the original brewery, the CO2 Capture system, and much more. The original building will continue to be the packaging facility which houses the bright tanks and packaging machines. A beer bridge over the Riverwalk carries beer from the brewing facility to the packaging facility which includes a new 250 can-a-minute rotatory canning line. Watch out Pacific Northwest, more Buoy Beer is coming your way!

Buoy Pacific Pale Ale will be available in 6-packs of 12oz cans distributed in Oregon & Washington. Check our Facebook page for future events.

Mother Earth Brewing Unveils Cocktail-Inspired Old Fashioned Ale

September 24, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Mother Earth Brewing

Vista, CA & Nampa, ID – Mother Earth is welcoming the Autumn equinox with an intoxicating spin on a classic cocktail – the Old Fashioned. Using a 12.5% Barrel Aged Old Ale as its base, Mother Earth’s brewers carefully blended Maraschino cherry syrup, Navel orange zest, and authentic Aromatic bitters. The concoction yields a complex, boozy beverage that is as good quaffed as it is garnished.

“During the initial barrel blend and sampling it was clear we had something special. In fact the beer alone had so many likenesses to the cocktail, it didn’t even take all that much imagination. It was really about accentuating qualities that were already there. Of course, achieving balance in the sum of its parts is another challenge entirely, but we feel like we nailed it.”

-Christopher Baker – Director of Brewing Operations, Mother Earth Brew Co.

In terms of the beer, expect a thick, mahogany body with complex caramel, vanilla, and herbal qualities. Allow to warm slightly for best results. Though Mother Earth isn’t a brewery known for gimmicks and off-the-wall serving practices, they certainly won’t blame you if you drop an orange peel or cherry on top.

4Seasons Autumn is available in 16oz cans and on draft where independent craft beers are sold or at the Mother Earth tasting room in Nampa, ID. Customers may also use the brewery’s interactive beer finder at findmotherearthbrewing.com. More info on the beer and the 4Seasons series are available on the brewery’s website.

About Mother Earth

Mother Earth Brew Co. develops hand crafted artisanal ales in year-round, as well as seasonal and specialty offerings. With multi-state as well as international distribution serviced by breweries in Vista, CA and Nampa, ID; Mother Earth’s award-winning beers help define and maintain the standard of excellence expected of independent craft brewers.

Epic Brewing Releases Imperial Pumpkin Porter and Barrel-Aged Imperial Pumpkin Porter

September 23, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Epic Brewing

The Imperial Pumpkin Porter is the furthest from basic pumpkin-flavored goodie that you’re going to treat yourself to this Fall. Rather than punch you in the face with over-the-top spice like so many other seasonal treats do, our pumpkin porter is marshmallow-y, chocolaty, and has a rich spice character.

This year’s Barrel-Aged Imperial Pumpkin Porter was aged for 3 months in whiskey-finished sherry barrels, as opposed to bourbon whiskey barrels, giving it earthy overtones that work in tandem with the pumpkin. It’ll be exciting to break this year’s version out of the cellar every few months! Compare it to the 2020 version to decipher the nuanced differences in barrel character.

The two PID’s below will be printed by heat stamp on the side of the bottle.

2020 PID: 6942 – Aged in whiskey barrels.

2021 PID: 7894, 9052 – Aged in whiskey-finished sherry barrels.

Our Imperial Pumpkin Porter and Barrel-Aged Imperial Pumpkin Porters will be available across our distribution footprint in October.
