WeldWerks Releases 10K IPA: Empower Edition

September 8, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

WeldWerksGREELEY, CO – Continuing with their mission of giving back to the community in impactful ways, WeldWerks Brewing will release the next edition of their philanthropic series, 10K IPA. 10K IPA: Empower Editon was brewed for A Woman’s Place and The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center (SAVA), two local nonprofits that provide support and resources for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The beer will be available on Friday, September 10 at the Greeley taproom.

“Partnering with SAVA and AWP gave us the opportunity to not only support a cause that is definitely near and dear to our hearts, but it was also a great opportunity to unify the efforts of our neighboring communities,” says WeldWerks Director of Operations Kristin Popcheff. “The work these two groups do is valuable to the health of the community and we couldn’t be more excited to build our partnership with these amazing organizations.”

At least $10,000 in proceeds from 10K IPA: Empower Edition will benefit both A Woman’s Place and SAVA. Funds raised from the beer will allow A Woman’s Place to provide crisis support to survivors of domestic violence, as well as community training to stop domestic violence. For SAVA, 10K IPA proceeds will benefit their prevention programming, which brings training and support to youth at local schools, camps and summer programs.

“The SAVA Center is so excited to partner with WeldWerks to raise funds to fight sexual violence in northern Colorado. SAVA has an office in Greeley, offering advocacy and therapy services for survivors of sexual violence as young as age three, and prevention education for youth age 6-18. It’s so important to us that we are able to get our name out into the community so that survivors and their support networks can find us easily,” says SAVA Director of Development Amy Butler Angell. “WeldWerks is such a well-known entity in Weld County, and having both the exposure they can provide us and their support behind our mission means everything to SAVA.”

Brewed with Citra, Strata and Idaho Gem Hops, 10K IPA: Empower Edition will be available on September 10 at WeldWerks, with limited distribution across the brewery’s footprint, while supplies last. Check the brewery’s beer finder for availability.

“As the only domestic violence safehouse in Weld County, A Woman’s Place provides critical and lifesaving services – and the support from WeldWerks to educate people about our mission is powerful,” says A Woman’s Place Executive Director Diane Heldt. “Thank you WeldWerks for caring for survivors of domestic violence in our community by helping to raise funds. Each dollar changes lives.”

Comprised of a passionate group of individuals dedicated to bringing innovative and quality craft beer to the community it serves, WeldWerks Brewing has garnered numerous medals and acclaim on the way, including being named the best new brewery in the country by USA Today in 2016 and multiple medals at both the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup. About A Woman’s Place

For more than forty years, A Woman’s Place has provided services for survivors of domestic violence. Founded as a crisis line in 1977, we opened our safehouse in 1981. Today, our 29-bed facility is the only safehouse in Weld County. We believe that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence. Our mission is to empower victims and survivors of domestic abuse to become safe, secure, and self-sufficient and through collaboration, to mobilize our community to help prevent domestic violence.

During 2020, A Woman’s Place answered 712 crisis phone calls and provided safe shelter to 273 individuals. A Woman’s Place continues to develop and refine programs in accordance with best practices in victims services. Our services include emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis line, advocacy, information and referral, youth services, counseling, legal advocacy and outreach education.

The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center

The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) Center’s mission is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling for all those affected by sexual violence and provide prevention programs through community outreach and education. We envision a culture change that results in the end of sexual violence. SAVA began as a rape crisis hotline in 1976 under the Larimer Center for Mental Health and, in 2003, became an independent nonprofit agency. In October 2010, SAVA expanded its services to include neighboring Weld County. SAVA now serves as the only rape crisis center in Larimer and Weld Counties dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of sexual assault survivors.

Each year, SAVA provides confidential support to over 1,200 victims of sexual assault and provides education to over 1,000 community members and 9,000 students. SAVA is a member of Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), the Colorado Organization of Victim’s Assistance (COVA), and the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA).

Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale Returns with Glow-in-the-Dark Packaging

September 3, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Dogfish HeadMilton, Del. – Forget pumpkin-spiced lattes, 2021 is the year of pumpkin beer … and what better way to celebrate the season than with one of the country’s original and best-selling pumpkin-infused ales Dogfish Head announces the return of Punkin Ale, the brewery’s iconic, fall-favorite brown ale brewed with real pumpkin meat, brown sugar and spices. The perfect beer to warm up with as the weather cools, it is chock full of spicy notes of cinnamon, brown sugar and pumpkin, with enticing aromas of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. At 7.0% ABV,Punkin Ale is NOW available nationwide in 6pk/12oz bottles with limited-edition, glow-in-the-dark packaging. Get it while you can, folks!

“The annual return of our Punkin Ale is a seasonal ritual I always look forward to, way more than turning back the clock an hour … the spicy, earthy aromatics of this big brown ale and the reddish golden hue of the liquid itself looks and tastes like vibrant, autumnal foliage squeezed into your pint glass. It’s the perfect accompaniment for a hearty dinner or a sunset hike,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “When I first homebrewed what is now Punkin Ale nearly 27 years ago, before the inception of Dogfish Head, I never imagined it would one day become a well-loved, seasonal staple for craft beer fans from coast-to-coast. Each year’s re-release is truly a heart-warming reminder of Dogfish Head’s off-centered journey.”

First brewed in 1994, Punkin Ale gets its name from a legendary east coast event, the World Championship of Punkin Chunkin. The event not only brought people from around the world together to see who could hurl a pumpkin the furthest, but it also featured a pumpkin-themed baking competition, in which Punkin Ale claimed first-prize. “It was actually kind of comical to watch my homebrewed pumpkin beer beat out all these beautiful, decadent pumpkin-themed desserts – cakes, pies, cookies and more,” said Sam. “I don’t think a beer had ever been entered into the contest, let alone been chosen as the winner … but folks were really diggin’ it, so I knew I was onto something!”

Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale made its commercial debut in 1995 and it has been re-released every year since. Tried and true, the beer’s original recipe – to this day – remains unchanged, but as part of the brewery’sOff-Centered Art Series, Punkin Ale’s label artwork gets a yearly refresh. Highlighting the work of a different guest artist each year, Dogfish Head’s Off-Centered Art Series is an annual collection of four beers that celebrates the creativity found at the intersection of art and ales.

The lively lineup of label artwork seen throughout the brewery’s 2021 Off-Centered Art Series features the illustrative skills of Ryan Besch, a designer known for his more than 20+ years of work creating gig posters and vinyl art for notable names like Phish, the Black Keys, O.A.R. and more. Besch’s rendition of the Punkin Ale label sets an eerily exhilarating scene, as a comic book-esque character with a pumpkin for a head is electrified with the shockingly wonderful flavors of Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale. For an even spookier experience, drinkers are encouraged to turn off the lights and watch as their 6pks are illuminated by glow-in-the-dark goodness.

River North Brewery To Release Three Mr. Sandman Variants for CBC

September 2, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

River North BreweryGABF is looking different again this year but the competition rages on and with it is Craft Brewers Conference! To make the best out of all of it, River North Brewery is releasing THREE different Mr. Sandman variants at both taprooms, Saturday, September 11th at 1 pm.

All three Mr. Sandman’s are unique in their own ways, providing you with the perfect three-pack of imperial stouts. The sweetest starts off with Milk Chocolate Mr. Sandman. This small-batch imperial stout is a chocolate milk lover’s dream with its deep, dark, chocolate notes and while it stays light on the palate it’s going to satiate those chocolate desires.

The second is similar but with an added kick to it: Mayan Chocolate Mr. Sandman. This is a well-balanced imperial stout that has a tad bit of heat to it and spice at the very end. With the lightly heated chocolate, those that enjoy their chocolate with a nice touch of heat to it will be pleasantly surprised at how well balanced this 11% ABV stout is.

Last but absolutely not least is Vanilla Bourbon Barrel Aged Mr. Sandman. A bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout brewed with vanilla beans is going to round out the other three Mr. Sandman’s nicely with its subtle notes of vanilla balancing out the bourbon that the imperial stout gets from the barrels.

All three Mr. Sandman’s will be available for sale in bottles to-go, including in three packs, as well as on tap starting at 1pm on Saturday, September 11th.

Bent Water Brewing Company Releases New England Double IPA, Super Sluice

September 2, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

LYNN, Mass. — Today, after over a year of development and refinement, Bent Water Brewing Company is releasing Super Sluice, a New England Double IPA inspired by the brewery’s flagship New England IPA, Sluice Juice.

Super Sluice advances the focus the brewery has been placing on IPAs for years, producing highly-ranked, accessible IPAs like Sluice Juice and West Coast style IPA Thunder Funk, as well as its new rotating Lynn Tribute Series, which includes Supercharger, recently awarded a blind tasting panel score of 96 from Craft Beer & Brewing.

“We make a little bit of everything at Bent Water,” said Aaron Reames, co-founder and president, Bent Water Brewing. “But we’re really known for our IPAs. Super Sluice is one of our biggest releases because, in some ways, it culminates the last three years of work we’ve put into expanding our knowledge of IPAs and really carving out a name for ourselves in that segment of the market.”

Super Sluice is kettle hopped with Citra, Bravo, Cascade, and Mandarina Bavaria hops, and dry hopped with Strata, Calypso, and Citra. It has an aroma of Florida orange, sweet berry, and passion fruit, and brings flavors on the tongue of pear, tropical fruit, and oranges. With the combination kettle and dry hopping of Citra, customers should expect an opaque pour and a big orange rush.

“We originally conceived Super Sluice as being an amplified version of Sluice Juice,” said Adam Denny Golab, head brewer, Bent Water. “But as we tested different recipes, we realized what we really wanted to give people was a big, tropical flavor bomb that would give customers something different enough for the beer to stand completely on its own.”

Super Sluice will be released on Wednesday, September 1st and available in the market starting later this week.

For more information about this release and others, follow Bent Water Brewing on social media: @bentwaterbrewing on Instagram, https://www.facebook.com/bwaterbrewing/ on Facebook and @bentwaterbrewco on Twitter.

Lawson’s Finest Liquids Distributes Kiwi Double IPA

September 1, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Lawson's Finest LiquidsWAITSFIELD, VT – With its next specialty beer release, Lawson’s Finest Liquids is taking craft beer lovers on a journey to New Zealand. Kiwi, a double IPA that has never been available outside the brewery’s Waitsfield Taproom until now, is brewed with a massive charge of New Zealand-grown Nelson Sauvin and Pacific Jade hops. Beginning this week, Kiwi will be stocked at retailers across Lawson’s Finest’s nine-state distribution area (VT, CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, and RI).

“We love to experiment with hops from all over the world, and Kiwi is a great example of that,” said Sean Lawson, founder and CEO of Lawson’s Finest Liquids. “This blend of New Zealand grown hops delivers an incredibly smooth taste, even at 8.1% ABV. After we released Kiwi IPA at our Taproom last year, everyone was asking when this beer was coming back, and the fact that we’re able to share it with beer fans across the Northeast is super exciting.”

This hop-forward double IPA leads with earthy, citrusy notes and finishes with distinct fruitiness. New Zealand is famous for its crisp, acidic white wines, and the Nelson Sauvin hops bring hints of grape flavor and vinous character to Kiwi. The Nelson hops complement the herbal, peppery notes of the Pacific Jade hops to create an overall flavor profile with a unique terroir, quite different from most double IPAs available in the market.

Kiwi is being released across Lawson’s Finest’s nine-state distribution territory as part of the brewery’s 2021 specialty release program. So far this year, Lawson’s Finest has distributed several beers, including Hopcelot IPA, that had not been available across the region in previous years. Following Kiwi’s run in September and October, the brewery will be distributing the highly anticipated Triple Sunshine across the Northeast to close out the year.

Sip of Sunshine, Little Sip, and the collection of beers from Lawson’s Finest’s Super Session single-hop IPA series, are available year-round throughout the nine-state distribution area. Craft beer lovers looking for their nearest Lawson’s Finest retailer can click here or visit www.lawsonsfinest.com.

About Lawson’s Finest Liquids

Based in Waitsfield, Vermont, Lawson’s Finest Liquids produces beers of the highest quality and freshness. Emulating the best of widely appreciated styles, Lawson’s Finest is home to a growing collection of expertly crafted beers, including world-class IPAs and unique maple brews. In 2014, Lawson’s Finest Liquids added an alternating proprietorship in Stratford, Connecticut, where the brewery produces its flagship Sip of Sunshine and Super Session beers.
