Dale’s Pale Ale Turns 20 And Oskar Blues Brewery Announces Double Dale’s Imperial IPA

February 8, 2022 by Dow Scoggins

Dale’s Pale Ale Turns 20 And Oskar Blues Brewery Announces Double Dale’s Imperial IPALongmont, Colorado – 2022 marks the 20th anniversary of Dale’s Pale Ale, the voluminously hopped, groundbreaking American Pale Ale that holds the distinction of being the first craft beer ever packaged in a can. To mark the milestone, Oskar Blues Brewery announces the release of Double Dale’s Imperial IPA, a double-take on the beer that started it all. Double Dale’s is available now nationwide in single-serve 19.2 oz cans, in 6-packs of 12 oz. cans, and on draft.

Two decades ago, Oskar Blues Brewery sent shockwaves through the beer industry when they packed Dale’s Pale Ale into a can. It was then an unheard-of packaging decision, but the reasons were obvious to the OB team: it allowed everyone to easily take craft beer on the trail AND it delivered a fresher beer. Now, Double Dale’s Imperial IPA picks up the torch, the welder, and the hacksaw to turn the industry upside down again, doubling down on hops with a newly formulated, massive IPA worthy of the legendary original craft beer in a can.

“It’s impossible to improve upon such a classic recipe, so we went in a slightly different direction with Double Dale’s,” said Oskar Blues Lyons’ Head Brewer Juice Drapeau, who piloted the new beer at the brewery’s original Lyons, Colo. location. “Double Dale’s captures some of the citrus and caramel character of Dale’s, while achieving its own unique flavor profile and identity. We wanted to create something new and fresh that would live up to the legacy Dale’s Pale Ale created – most importantly being a boundary stomping, hopped-up beer.”

Double Dale’s is brewed with juicy, tropical El Dorado and complex Talus hops, keeping with the Dale’s tradition of utilizing only American hops. Fruity, piney flavors from the hops mingle with a caramel-driven malt bill, and the whole beast is supported by a new mineral-forward house blend of H2O, which includes six brewing salts. The result is a larger-than-life spin on Dale’s that’s just as packable, drinkable and recyclable as the original.

About Oskar Blues Brewery
Founded by Dale Katechis in 1997 in Lyons, Colorado, Oskar Blues Brewery launched the craft-beer-in-a-can apocalypse with their hand-canned flagship brew, Dale’s Pale Ale. Today, Oskar Blues operates breweries in Colorado, North Carolina and Texas featuring Dale’s Pale Ale as the nation’s #3 top-selling craft can six-pack at U.S. supermarkets. Oskar Blues is available nationwide in the US and in over 20 countries. Oskar Blues Brewery is a proud member of CANarchy, a disruptive collective of like-minded craft brewers dedicated to bringing high-quality, innovative flavors to drinkers in the name of independent craft beer.

New Realm Brewing’s Hazy Like an Ox Makes its Return for the Third Year

February 6, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

New Realm Brewing CompanyATLANTA, Georgia – New Realm Brewing is set to re-release Hazy Like an Ox Double IPA for the third year. For the first release in New Realm’s 2022 Monsters & Myths Double IPA Series, they celebrate the mythical minotaur, with a brand new can design and 12oz cans. New Realm introduced this imaginative and illustrative series to captivate hop-loving beer fans. The series aims to bring fans along for a journey into extraordinary new realms, while paying homage to some of the world’s most famous (and infamous) mythical legends.

Hazy Like an Ox is charging its way back into the lineup January 11th, this time, with a brand-new label design taking the brand from Babe the Blue Ox to an exciting 80’s minotaur. This fan favorite DIPA is brewed to be the big brother to New Realm’s flagship Hazy IPA, Hazy Like a Fox. Make no bull about it, this gigantic juicy hazy double IPA takes it to the next level with a beastly aromatic blend of orange, lemon, and pineapple hop notes. With a deep golden pour and a bullish amount of Azacca, El Dorado, and Idaho 7 Hops, you might say we’re hoptimists who look at this glass as half-bull.

“When we began our Monsters & Myths series three years ago, we wanted to brew a beer that was an Imperial version of our flagship IPA, Hazy Like a Fox. This double IPA uses the same blend of grains, a touch of lactose to enhance the sweetness, and two dry hopping sessions. The result is a medium-full bodied beer with a soft, light bitterness and a pronounced juicy hop character throughout,” said Mitch Steele, Co-Founder and Brewmaster of New Realm Brewing.

“With our Monsters & Myths series, we really wanted to explore various mythical legends and then depict them in a creative and fun manner, because craft beer is meant to be fun and creative” said Erik Leach, Marketing Brand Manager of New Realm Brewing. “This can design gives a retro nod to the 80s, with a rad skater vibe that is really fun.”

This hazy and juicy double IPA is now available on draft and in brand-new 12oz 6 pack cans in New Realm’s brewery to-go coolers, as well as your favorite retailers around Georgia, Virginia, and parts of South Carolina.

Information:

Epic Brewing Releases Space Debris IPA, Flower Power Sour and Yelling at Clouds Cold IPA

February 6, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Epic Brewing Company Releases Space Debris IPA
Epic Brewing Company releases Space Debris IPA, a 6.2% ABV classic West Coast IPA. After months of recipe development, experimental test batches, recipe reformulation, and learning new techniques, everyone from the brew team to the taproom is proud to hoist this beer as the newest member of Epic’s year-round lineup.

The base is built on 2-Row, Caramel 20 & Honey Malts, as well as Nugget hops and Centennial hops for bittering. Centennial gets a second addition during the boil, then a THIRD addition during flame-out and world pool in a blend with Amarillo hops.

Once the liquid hits a fermentation tank, it gets dosed with American ale yeast and dry-hopped with equal amounts of Citra & Amarillo hops for a total of four hop additions! Finally, the dank liquid is filtered, leaving light copper in color with mild pineyness and tropical fruit notes.

Space Debris IPA will be available at Epic Brewing’s Salt Lake City and Denver taprooms in March and will be shipped across the brewery’s distribution footprint in April. Six packs of 12oz cans will be available in Salt Lake City. Six packs and draft will be available in Denver. Space Debris IPA is a West Coast Style IPA that is meant to be your trusty accomplice for nights spent fireside and staring upward toward the starry abyss. Pick up a six pack of Space Debris IPA for your next adventure.

Name: Space Debris IPA
Malt Bill: 2-Row, Caramel 20 & Honey Malts
Hops: Amarillo, Centennial, Citra, Nugget
Sizes: 12oz cans, kegs
Availability in Salt Lake City: 12oz cans
Availability in Denver: 12oz cans, draft

Epic Brewing Company Releases Flower Power Sour
Epic Brewing Company releases Flower Power Sour, a 6.5% ABV Oak-Aged Sour Ale. Head Brewer Jordan Schupbach continues to push Epic’s boundaries, this time by expanding the flavor profile AND color profile of beer into uncharted territory.

At any given point in time, we have over 3,000 gallons of Ale maturing across three Oak Foedres in our Denver brewery as part of our Wood-Ageing program. This gives Jordan and his team the flexibility to constantly twist and tweak the recipes in the program, which is responsible for dozens of Ales across our Oak & Orchard and Sour Brainless lineups. Lately, the team has enjoyed blending Wood-Aged Sour Ale with Belgian Ale and spiking it with fresh fruit puree. This time he and his team created a phenomenal beer using two popular tea additives.

To brew Flower Power Sour, the team took Sour Ale that matured for months in an oak Foedre, doused it with passion fruit puree in a fermentation tank, and diligently blended Belgian Golden Strong Ale into the mixture. Powerful flavor absorbed from the wood shines through and is balanced by the Belgian Ale base and sweet passion fruit puree. Hibiscus is added just before packaging to give the beer a bright color without affecting the flavor profile. The result is an ebullient Sour Ale that shimmers with a beautiful pink hue when poured out of taps and cans.

Flower Power Sour is bursting equally with flavor as it is with color. This eye-catching Ale is perfect for anyone who wants to spice up their typical beer order or those who enjoy approachable Sour Ales. It will be available at Epic Brewing’s taprooms in March, and will be shipped to select states in April.

Name: Flower Power Sour
Malt Bill: Pilsner, White Wheat Malt, Spelt, and Flaked Oats.
Hops: Tettnang
Adjuncts: Oak Foedre-Aged, Hibiscus & Passion Fruit Puree
Denver Availability: 16oz cans & Kegs
Salt Lake City Availability: 16oz cans

Epic Brewing Company Releases Yelling At Clouds Cold IPA
Epic Brewing Company Releases Yelling At Clouds, a 6.5% ABV Cold IPA. Inspired by a beam of sunlight shooting through the clouds, Epic’s team sought to produce an IPA that ISN’T hazy. After years of breweries showering the masses in hazy IPAs, Cold IPAs are finally breaking the storm.

Yelling At Clouds IPA is Epic’s way of saying “we hear you” to all of their IPA loving fans who want more flavors than just “juicy” or “piney.” This Cold IPA was built on a backbone of 2-Row Brewers Malt and Corn, giving it a full-bodied texture. The key player, however, is American Lager Yeast and a cold fermentation process, making the beer crispier and cleaner than a typical IPA. On top of that, mounds of Sabro, Simcoe, and Idaho7 hops were added throughout the boil to give it a familiar hop character.

Yelling At Clouds IPA will be available at Epic Brewing’s Salt Lake City and Denver taprooms in March and will be shipped to select states in April. This is a one-time beer with no plans of being brewed again, so get your hands on it while you can. Four packs of 16oz cans will be available in Salt Lake City. Four packs and draft will be available in Denver.

Name: Yelling At Clouds IPA
Malt Bill: 2-Row Brewers Malt, Corn
Hops: Simcoe, Sabro, Idaho7
Salt Lake City Availability: 16oz cans, 22oz bottles
Denver Availability: 16oz cans, Kegs

Chuckanut Brewery Releases Grodziskie Polish Lager

February 6, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Chuckanut BreweryBELLINGHAM, Washington – Grodziskie Polish Lager has been brewed by Chuckanut Brewery once again. This light colored, slightly smoky effervescent lager is very unusual and rarely brewed in America. The style uses oak smoked wheat malt giving it a very light color, softbody and a dry finish. Grodziskie is known as the Polish champagne because ofthe tiny bubbles and lightness of body in this style of beer.

Chosen by beer writer Stan Hieronymus in 2021 as one of the best 10 beers to drink in the US it’s slightly different than other Grodziskies brewed in the US. Chuckanut’s version is a balance between malt and hops and comes in at only 3% ABV. Delicate smokiness tantalizes the taste buds but does not over power them leaving room to quench your thirst. Available on draft at accounts around Puget Sound and Oregon. Cans of Grodziskie are available only at Chuckanut’s P. Nut (Portland) and South Nut (Skagit Valley). Hope you like it, cheers!

Chuckanut Brewery’s P Nut Beer Hall is located at  920 SE Caruthers St, Portland, OR 97214. Chuckanut Brewery & Tap Room is located in the heart of Skagit County at 11937 Higgins Airport Way, Burlington, WA at the Port of Skagit. Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. To Serve As Official Sponsor Of The 7th Annual Bend Marathon

February 5, 2022 by Dow Scoggins

Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. To Serve As Official Sponsor Of The 7th Annual Bend Marathon BEND, Oregon — As an avid runner and Central Oregon native, Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. owner and general manager Andy Rhine had long been hopeful to support running races in the local community. After developing a connection with race directors Max King and Kari Strang, Cascade Lakes was offered the opportunity to sponsor the Bend Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k races scheduled to take place April 10 in Bend.

Rhine and his family, who have a shared passion for running, appreciate the fellowship and enthusiasm these races bring to all who take part in them. The Rhine family and Cascade Lakes were so enthusiastic about the opportunity that they doubled down on their investment and took it a step further, quickly announcing that the brewery would produce a seasonal 26.2 Brew, a true runner’s ale at 4.6% ABV and 20 IBU. Race participants can also expect to enjoy a refreshing Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. beer upon finishing their distance/race/event.

As the event draws near, the brewery will also host a series of group pub runs and social events, local specials, and runners’ discounts. For those not racing, the 26.2 Brew will be available starting in mid-March at Cascade Lakes’ Bend Brewpub and 7th Street location in Redmond.

“Our decision to support the Bend Marathon is as much personal as it is professional for me, as running is such an integral part of my family and is a great way for us to give something back to the community for supporting us,” says Rhine. “This event couldn’t happen in 2020 or 2021, and I knew having the Bend Marathon back would be a big lift for our local running community. As a Sunriver native and Bend High graduate, it’s important to me that we keep these local running events alive. I hope to help build off the Bend Marathon’s success by doing our part to help make this event even bigger, better, and more community-focused than ever, and what better way than to have a local, family-owned community brewery as a sponsor.”

In addition to serving as an official sponsor of the 2022 Bend Marathon, Cascade Lakes Brewing Co. and Superfit Productions recently announced a partnership for Superfit’s 2022 trail running series that includes the Mastondon, Horse Butte, and Dirty Half races. Cascade Lakes also will be sponsoring Alpine Running in 2022 which will host several beautiful trail races in Oregon, including Central Oregon’s first 100-mile trail race.

Founded by the Gorgeous Series in 2015, the Bend Marathon and Half-Marathon were acquired by local running fixtures Max King and Kari Strang in 2018. For more information or to sign up for the Bend Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, or 5k events, visit www.bend-marathon.com.

Offshoot Beer Co. Brings Back Seasonal Double Dry-Hopped Hazy IPA

February 5, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Offshoot Beer CompanyORANGE COUNTY, California – If single dry-hopping is good, then double dry-hopping is even better, and Offshoot Beer Co. is coming back with its favorite seasonal: Visions, a double dry-hopped hazy IPA. Loaded with fresh, fruity, hop-forward flavors, Visions joins Offshoot’s four core beers in national distribution, including its newest Coast (An Anytime Hazy Pale Ale), Relax (It’s Just a Hazy IPA), Retreat (This is a Double Hazy IPA), and Escape (It’s Your Everyday West Coast IPA).

Offshoot Beer Co. had a vision for how to make a hazy IPA even juicier, and this is it. Think of this as a super-charged hazy IPA, with a healthy dosing of hops to impart fruity, tropical and citrus notes, with a soft round mouthfeel. With aromas reminiscent of fruit punch with notes of citrus, a bit of pine coming through on the palate, and the pillowy mouthfeel you’ve come to expect from an Offshoot beer, Visions truly is an anytime IPA.

Visions, like many of Offshoot’s most popular beers, emerged from some of the fan-favorite monthly small-batch releases that come out of the brewery. At 6.9% ABV, the same recipe from last year’s brew was used, but of course an additional year’s worth of refining techniques makes this year’s batch better than ever. Visions is double dry-hopped with Centennial, Citra, Cashmere, Mosaic, Amarillo, Simcoe (Brewing Manager Nathan Watkins jokes “it might be easier for me to remember the list of hops that AREN’T in this beer.”) The result is hop-forward without too much bitterness and a soft mouthfeel that makes this IPA super approachable.

Watkins discusses Offshoot’s dry-hopping process in more detail. “Traditionally when you dry-hop you do so towards the end of fermentation, we then let it rest a few days and dry-hop it again with entirely different hops, pulling out a bouquet of unique aromas and flavors. Our dry-hopping technique is a bit more involved than just tossing hops into the top of our fermenters; we use an additional piece of equipment to run the beer through that results in a more efficient hop usage as well as more concentrated flavor and aroma.”

Visions joins an exciting lineup of rotating seasonals for 2022, which will also include a pale ale, a cold IPA, and an IPA brewed with experimental hops. Brand Director Caitie Gold says “these seasonals are an incredible opportunity to provide unique and innovative hop-forward beers that complement our year-round brands. They end up being some of our favorites, Visions was our fastest-selling seasonal last year.”

Visions is now available in 16oz 4-packs across Offshoot’s distribution footprint, as well as at The Bruery’s tasting rooms and via direct shipping from their own website to multiple states. For more information about where you can find these SoCal hoppy beers near you, head to https://www.thebruery.com/pages/offshoot-find.

Ska Brewing Forecasts IPA Style Trend With Checkered Future IPA

February 5, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Ska BrewingDURANGO, Colorado – Old school hops meet modern varieties and techniques in a new age IPA that Ska Brewing will debut in cans across its markets this month. Checkered Future IPA is here.

Long a house of IPA experimentation and the home to Colorado classic IPA Modus Hoperandi, Ska has released three hazy offerings in the past few years: Hazy IPA, Double Hazy IPA, and Tropical Hazy IPA. Now, Checkered Future bridges the gap from Modus to haze with this fresh style.

“Checkered Future employs a blend of everything we’ve learned and the hops we’ve experimented with over these last few years of IPA recipe development,” says Ska Brewing Co-Founder Dave Thibodeau. We chose very specific hop varieties for their myriad hop aroma compounds that showcase particularly well with these newer hopping techniques, which has allowed us to create a relatively clear IPA with bright, juicy tropical fruit aromas yet with a bit of the classic West Coast-style, citrusy, piney perceived bitterness we’ve been missing in the hazy era.”

If the checkered past is a compilation of the bright with the dark, then Checkered Future is Ska’s answer to uncertain times: moving forward with innovation and acceptance that what’s to come is unwritten. “We haven’t named a beer beyond stylistic designation in several years, but this new IPA called for a name with a story,” says Ska’s Sales & Marketing Director Kristen Muraro.

A Checkered Future release party will go down at Ska’s World Headquarters in Durango on February 15, featuring live music, a limited edition Ska and Venture Snowboard giveaway, and $2 pints of the new IPA.

Find Checkered Future where you buy Ska Brewing beers, for the foreseeable future. This IPA will join Ska’s year round lineup of cans and be available across all of Ska’s markets.

Mother Road Brewing Company Now Regional Brewery

February 4, 2022 by Dow Scoggins

Mother Road Brewing Company Now Regional BreweryFLAGSTAFF, Arizona – Last year Mother Road brewed 19,385 taxable barrels (BBLs) — well over the mark of 15,000 BBLs The Brewer’s Association uses for its Regional classification. This is up 6,019 BBLs, or 45 percent, from 2022’s 13,366 taxable BBLs. A Regional Brewery distinction is especially meaningful to our crew who set sights on the goal before doors opened on November 17, 2011.

The news comes as a huge boost during challenges faced by the pandemic. It’s a testament to resilience and what brings people together to enjoy each other’s company. Whether at home, in restaurants and bars, or hopefully as an enduring flavor of life moving forward, we can still build community one pint at a time.

The honor for this hard-earned milestone goes to our crew, rallying daily around our values: Radical Hospitality, Resourceful, Dauntless, Curiosity and Puckish. Our brewery’s culture drives Mother Road toward new opportunities awaiting down the road, like expanding brewery capacity while still providing distinguished, quality beer with the amount of square footage at our disposal.

We seek to build more community, widen our circle of friends and expand a presence in Arizona with distribution partner Hensley Beverage Company. We’ll experiment with unique recipes while remaining true to our core four: Tower Station IPA, Daily Driver IPA, Limited Visibility Hazy IPA and Conserve And Protect Golden Ale, found on tap and in groceries around the state we proudly serve.
