“We’re proud to bring the bold and exciting flavors of Big Storm to Texas and join the state’s dynamic craft beer scene. I’m confident this partnership will result in a new wave of Big Storm fans and Texans will fall in love with our award-winning beers like Floridians have,” said Big Storm co-owner L.J. Govoni.
Mikeska will distribute Big Storm’s core beers including Tropic Pressure Florida Ale and Wavemaker Amber Ale.
A family owned business, Mikeska is known for being extremely loyal to select brewers who exhibit the highest quality in the industry. Charles Mikeska, one of the distributor’s owners, says he fell in love with Big Storm after sampling several of their beers last year at the National Beer Wholesalers Association trade show in Las Vegas.
“Big Storm produces high quality craft beers and its knowledgeable staff make it a great asset for Mikeska. I know Big Storm will be a hit in Texas and elevate the range of strong brands we already offer,” Mikeska said.
Mikeska’s distribution territory includes Austin, Fort Hood, Killeen, Temple, and Waco, Texas.
One of the fastest growing independent craft breweries in Florida, Big Storm was founded in 2012 by Mike Bishop. Big Storm currently has two brewing facilities along with three taprooms; Cape Coral, Clearwater, Odessa.
Led by Head Brewer, Joel Moore, Big Storm’s innovative craft beers have received critical acclaim for the past six consecutive years, winning 2016’s Best Florida Beer Championship with its Oktoberfest Märzen Lager.
Big Storm is an official partner of both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The brewery also recently unveiled a collaboration with William Dean Chocolates, the company that made the chocolates featured in the Hunger Games movies, to produce a chocolate toffee stout beer called Cocoa Convergence.
Today, Big Storm is a true pioneer using locally sourced ingredients like citrus and wildflower honey, brewing more than 50 different beers, including their popular Arcus IPA, Wavemaker Amber Ale, Tropic Pressure Florida Ale, Palm Bender Gulf Coast IPA and Oats in Hose Oatmeal Stout.
