FiftyFifty Brewing to Sell Storm Chaser German Lager Year-Round

December 12, 2018 by Dow Scoggins

TRUCKEE, Calif. — FiftyFifty Brewing Co., the 2018 GABF Brewery Group of the year, is releasing its Storm Chaser™ beer for the second year in a row, continuing the partnership with Protect Our Winters®(POW) to promote climate advocacy in Truckee, and around the world. Based on the success of the 2017 release, and because climate change is not a seasonal issue, FiftyFifty Brewing is committing to making Storm Chaser™ available throughout the year, as one of its select core brands.

As Truckee’s original mountain town brewery, FiftyFifty’s culture, ethos and water source are rooted in the Sierras and their annual cycle of snowpack. Storm Chaser™ was a first time partnership in 2017 and while both POW and FiftyFifty Brewing have grown significantly since then, winter is still at risk. For 2018 and beyond, FiftyFifty is committing to Storm Chaser™ to quench thirsts at ski resorts, lakes, beaches, bars and stores around the world, and throughout the year. CEO and Co-founder Andy Barr commented on making this an ongoing effort: “We started FiftyFifty Brewing in Truckee over a decade ago and the change in winter has been noticeable. We connected with Jeremy Jones and POW to make a small dent in this trend and we’re committed to continuing the effort. Climate change isn’t something we only think about during the winter months. Storm Chaser™ is a great beer that supports a great cause. Why wouldn’t we tell this story all year long?”

Having seen the effect of climate change affect his career as a professional snowboarder, Jeremy Jones started POW in 2007 to mobilize the snowsports community. Over a decade later POW is an influential non-profit helping to bring awareness and change through local and national efforts. POW athletes often visit Washington D.C. to raise awareness and learn how the snowsports industry can better work with local and federal government to help bring back stability to our winter environments. About the release of Storm Chaser™ as a core brand for FiftyFifty Brewing, POW founder and President Jeremy Jones added: “Watching the first beers come off the line last year in Truckee was surreal. Making this an ongoing beer style and having the support of FiftyFifty Brewing to both raise awareness and money for Protect Our Winters is an honor. As someone who follows the current state of Climate Change closely, it can be daunting. Thankfully I now have an awesome beer to take the edge off things all year long.”

16-ounce cans of Storm Chaser™ are available today at the FiftyFifty Pub and Taproom in Truckee, CA. Wider availability at ski resorts, bars, markets and restaurants in Truckee/Lake Tahoe, and at select mountain locations around the country will follow this month and continue well beyond winter.
