BIRMINGHAM, MI — September 23, 2024 — Griffin Claw Brewing Company has announced a donation of $5,000 to Forgotten Harvest, the leading food rescue organization in Southeast Michigan. The donation was formally presented with an oversized check on Monday, September 23, celebrating an ongoing partnership between the two organizations.
The donation follows a successful collaboration between Griffin Claw Brewing Company and Forgotten Harvest, which resulted in the creation of One in a Melon, a limited-edition Watermelon New England IPA. Brewed with fresh watermelons from the Forgotten Harvest Farm in Fenton, this unique beer was crafted to raise awareness about the critical work of Forgotten Harvest and its mission to alleviate hunger in the community. In 2023 alone, Forgotten Harvest Farm produced over 653,000 pounds of fresh produce to help feed individuals and families facing food insecurity in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. Plans are already underway for another refreshing collaboration beer set to debut in 2025.
The collaboration extends beyond their unique beer creation. Since 2021, Griffin Claw employees have donated time each holiday season to pack meals at Forgotten Harvest, and they will continue this meaningful tradition this winter.
“Our partnership with Forgotten Harvest has been deeply rewarding, both in raising awareness of their incredible work through our collaborative beer and actively supporting their mission,” said Scott LePage, managing partner, Griffin Claw Brewing Company. “We look forward to many more years of working together to make a positive impact in our community.”
“Forgotten Harvest is grateful to Griffin Claw Brewing Company for their collaboration and partnership on One in a Melon, which brought awareness to our mission of fighting food insecurity in metro Detroit in a fun and unique way,” said Maureen Smith, director of corporate relations, Forgotten Harvest.
The check presentation took place at Forgotten Harvest’s headquarters in Oak Park, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Griffin Claw Brewing Company and Forgotten Harvest.
