La Vista, Nebraska – With the issues faced relative to Covid-19, Nebraska Brewing Company made the decision to move the 2020 release window of its highly anticipated Whiskey Barrel Aged Barleywine, Fathead to August 14th.
Fathead Barleywine was one of the first beers to undergo experimentation within what would become the Nebraska Brewing Company Barrel Aging Program and has served the line well.
Aged in recently emptied American Whiskey barrels, Fathead Barleywine features an addition of dark brown sugar to boost the alcohol and contribute a unique caramel/molasses character attained through a beautiful transformation within a 6 month maturation period and is hopped with just enough Centennial and Cascade to offset the slight sweetness of this big, warming beer.
This particular release also includes the popular Vanilla Bean variant in the Inception Series line.
Paul Kavulak, President of Nebraska Brewing Company stated: “Our entire Reserve and Barrel-Aged line has earned a reputation for outstanding flavor and quality and what began as simple experiments have become central to what we love. Fathead began life well before Nebraska Brewing Company was founded in the form of my homebrew world back in the early 90s. Pull up a chair and grab a friend, you’ll both enjoy the effort.”
Reserve Series Fathead Barleywine has gone on to win numerous accolades over the years including:
- 2009 US Open Beer Championships – Silver Medal – Barley Wine
- 2010 World Beer Championships – Bronze Medal – Barley Wine
- 2013 US Open Beer Championships – Bronze Medal – Barley Wine
