Platform Beer Co. to Release Year-Round Hard Seltzer Brand

December 9, 2018 by Dow Scoggins

CLEVELAND, Ohio —  Platform Beer Company will be adding another unique product to the 4-year-old brewery’s wide offering of products. Contributing to Platform’s lineup of traditional styles, Hazy IPA’s, Seasonal Selections, Specialty Sours, Ciders and Apple Ales; the “Seltzer Project” will begin hitting shelves this December in six-pack cans.

The first in a rotating variety of flavors, Black Cherry, is described as having a “light, neutral base that allows for natural fruit flavors to shine” according to Platform Co-Founder Paul Benner. The alcoholic seltzer will be low in alcohol coming in at 5% abv and will contain 4 grams of carbs and only 110 calories.

“It is hard to ignore the growing popularity of hard seltzers recently”, remarks Platform VP of Sales, Matt Subel. According to IRI data, four of the ten fastest growing malt beverage/beer brands in Ohio over the past12 months are hard seltzer brands; Platform is included in those ranks. “We have built a brand that is focused on research and development, is heavy on innovation and listens to our customers. We have never been afraid to lean into consumer trends and this approach has led to some of our most unique products. Once we analyzed the data from the past year,we decided to turn the R & D brewers loose”, adds Subel.

“We discovered that, outside of some specialized equipment additions, we had most of the equipment in-house to produce high quality, craft Seltzer. We are proud of the efforts of our brewing team that fine-tuned processes and recipes to develop a finished product that is unique and tastes great”, says Benner. “It’s been a challenge and a learning experience, two things that energize our team.”

Look for additional flavors such as Grapefruit Tangerine, Passionfruit,Ginger Lime, Strawberry Lemonade and Tropical Punch to be seasonally released throughout the year. Cans will be sold in six-packs and will be available on draft wherePlatform Beer Co. products are sold. The product will also be available at theCleveland, Columbus and soon-to-open Cincinnati Tasting Rooms.

More details about the Seltzer Project can be found on Platform Beer Co. social media outlets.
