WESTERLY, R.I. – Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island is raising a glass to its fan-favorite, Captain’s Daughter Double IPA, to celebrate the beer’s 10th anniversary. Since its release in 2014, Captain’s Daughter has become a staple for craft beer enthusiasts, known for its bold hop character and vibrant tropical and citrus flavors.
“After finalizing the recipe for Captain’s Daughter and tasting the first batch, I thought we might have something special,” said Grey Sail co-founder and owner Alan Brinton. “Over the past decade, it’s been incredible to see how our Double IPA has resonated with beer lovers and become a flagship product for Grey Sail. It’s a testament to our team’s dedication and passion for brewing.”
Captain’s Daughter Double IPA is a robust brew at 8.5% ABV. It features an explosive combination of Chinook, Citra, and Mosaic hops, delivering a delightful burst of tropical and citrus flavors. Originally available in 12-ounce cans and draft, it is now also offered in 16-ounce and 19.2-ounce cans, as well as on draft, ensuring fans can enjoy it in their preferred format.
To celebrate this milestone, Grey Sail is giving Captain’s Daughter a special new look. The limited-edition cans feature a gold lid, and the iconic green label displays fireworks with the number 10 at the center, marking 10 years of the double IPA.
“Captain’s Daughter has played a crucial role in Grey Sail’s success, not only putting us on the map in the beer community but also enabling us to give back, especially within our own community,” said Grey Sail co-founder and owner Jen Brinton. “Thanks to this success, Grey Sail has been able to support phenomenal non-profits in our region, benefiting our business community, our veterans, our neighbors, pets needing homes, the arts, and the environment. Our IPA fans empower us to give back.”
In addition to the special edition can, Grey Sail is hosting a weekend full of fun events from Friday, November 8, to Sunday, November 10, at Grey Sail’s Taproom. Attendees can enjoy various activities celebrating a decade of Captain’s Daughter and savor a pint or two of the delicious brew.
