Craft Beer Meets Musical Artistry – Noah Kahan & Two Roads Release Northern Attitude IPA

August 31, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

STRATFORD, Connecticut — Craft brewing meets musical artistry with Two Roads Brewing Co.’s new collaborative brewing project with Vermont native Noah Kahan: Northern Attitude IPA. New England through and through, Northern Attitude IPA is a piney, resinous, 7% ABV IPA inspired by the music that Noah’s fans have come to know and love.

“Noah, his music, and his values embody the same Road Less Traveled mindset we take to crafting beer,” said Collin Kennedy, Director of Marketing of Two Roads. “Noah and Two Roads are both from, and of, New England, wear their regional pride on their sleeves and draw upon that region to inspire their respective crafts. So, teaming up with Noah to create a beer that pays homage to our roots and benefits an important cause in The Busyhead Project was just a natural from the start. Not to mention we have a ton of employees that are huge fans of Noah’s music!”

Two Roads and Kahan worked closely together to create Northern Attitude IPA, from taste profile to package design – all while Kahan is on tour. The beer aims to drive awareness and funds for The Busyhead Project, an organization founded by Kahan that provides resources to mental health organizations dedicated to meeting the needs of marginalized communities with both crisis care and tools for sustainable resilience.

Northern Attitude IPA will first be available at Two Roads’ Stratford, Conn. brewery on September 3rd, but fans can also get a taste at Kahan’s upcoming concert at the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Conn. on September 5th and the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion on September 6th and 7th. Following the concert, Northern Attitude IPA will be available in 16 oz. 4-packs at retailers within the brewery’s New England footprint, for a suggested retail price of $15.99.

About Noah Kahan

Over the past year, Vermont singer & songwriter Noah Kahan has exploded from his New England roots into the global mainstream and has been touted as one of 2023’s biggest and best new artists. At the core of his music are vulnerable lyrics and an unfiltered yet relatable honesty, as the critically acclaimed artist pens songs straight from the heart and cracks jokes with his signature, self-deprecating sense of humor. Across his three albums and an EP, Kahan has garnered global renown that includes more than two billion streams, a Platinum Certification for his hit single “Stick Season,” and collaborations with the likes of Post Malone, Joy Oladokun, and GRAMMY-nominated artists Julia Michaels and Wesley Schulz of The Lumineers. His widely adored album, Stick Season, is inspired by his New England roots and conveys a vivid representation of what he loves, fears, and struggles with most passionately. Noah has been on his sold-out “Stick Season Tour” across North America since the album’s release last year, selling half-a-million tickets to date and performing in the biggest venues of his career, with newly announced global dates on the horizon. In June, he released an extended version of Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever), which has gone on to surpass sales of the original and shows no signs of slowing down. His latest single, “Dial Drunk,” has already amassed millions of streams and a slew of critical acclaim, cementing Noah Kahan as one of the most successful breakout artists of the year.

August 31, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

PORTLAND, Oregon — Ecliptic Brewing and Hawaii’s Maui Brewing Co have been working together this year to create a Cosmic Collaboration beer: Ecliptic + Maui Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA. The beer is slated to ship August 23rd, both in 16C-ounce cans and draft.

In view of the recent Maui wildfires, Ecliptic will be donating a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold through their pubs and release events to Legacy of Aloha, as well as donating 10% of all restaurant sales on August 30th. Legacy of Aloha supports Maui Brewing employees who have lost their homes or been temporarily displaced. Any remaining funds will be given to accredited nonprofits working on the ground in Maui.

“We were devastated to learn of the recent wildfires that have caused so much destruction and loss of life in Maui,” says John Harris, Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster. “Garret Marrero [Maui’s Co-Founder] has been a huge leader in the relief efforts there currently, and we wanted to share some organizations Maui Brewing Company suggests donating to below.”

· Makai Foundation

· Legacy of Aloha

· Maui Brewing Co Fire Fund

· Kokua Project – for other breweries

Ecliptic + Maui Brewing Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA starts with a Pale Malt base and is hopped with Sabro, El Dorado and Chinook. A good dose of pineapple puree, along with delicate coconut bring a big tropical vibe to this easy drinking IPA, clocking in at 6.5% ABV.

Ecliptic + Maui Brewing Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA will be released in 16-ounce cans and draft throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network on August 23rd. Two benefit release events are planned as follows:

· Seattle release benefit event: August 29th at Brewmaster’s Taproom. Ecliptic will donate a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold to Legacy of Aloha, matched by Brewmaster’s Taproom.

· Portland release benefit event: August 30th at Ecliptic Brewing Moon Room (5PM) and Belmont Station(6:30P). Ecliptic will donate a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold to Legacy of Aloha, matched by Belmont Station. Additionally, Ecliptic will be donating 10% of their restaurant sales on August 30th.

· Lastly, both Ecliptic locations will be drop off points for a supply drive for the Maui community through Stuff The Buseco Shuttle. Please drop off supplies (clean blankets/towels, new underwear, menstrual products, diapers, formula, etc) at either location during open restaurant hours until August 20th at 3pm.

Visit Ecliptic’s website or Instagram for up-to-date details on this release and other potential release events.

Ecliptic + Maui Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA

Is It Fall Yet? Neshaminy Creek Celebrates 3 New Beers

August 31, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

CROYDON, Pennsylvania — Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company (Neshaminy Creek) is gearing up for fall with three exciting beer releases on Friday, August 25, including two brewery collaborations. First up is a new Baltic Porter, Eye on the Tide, brewed with a hearty grain bill of Crystal and Chocolate malts. This complex beer, 8.4% ABV, uses Magnum and Tettnanger hops and is then fermented with a German Lager yeast. The raucous result has a robust roasted malt character with mammoth notes of baker’s chocolate, crusty bread, and dark fruits with a warming finish. This new brew will be available at all three Neshaminy Creek locations with limited distribution throughout the Philadelphia region.

In collaboration with neighbors Second Sin Brewing Company (Second Sin), Neshaminy Creek is also releasing Without Light Czech Dark Lager. “Without light, the dark encloses all…” as it did when Neshaminy Creek Head Brewer Jason Ranck and Second Sin Co-owner & Head Brewer Jake Howell used to work overnight together at Neshaminy Creek. The bond they formed over brewing and music, especially Pallbearer, led to a six-year friendship that the duo is celebrating with this long-overdue collaboration. Without Light is their take on a Czech Dark Lager, brewed with floor-malted Bohemian barley and has notes of dark bread, light chocolate, and a pleasant noble spiciness from mounds of Saaz hops. Without Light, 5.2% ABV, will be available at Second Sin and Neshaminy Creek’s Croydon and Dublin taprooms with limited cases and draft.

Finally, the team at Neshaminy Creek joined 25 local breweries on the Bucks County Ale Trail for a collaboration at Warwick Farm Brewing to create the all-new Dry-Hopped Expedition Bucks County American Pale Ale. This cross-county collaboration was spearheaded by Visit Bucks County to celebrate all the incredible breweries that you can visit on the Bucks County Ale Trail. This 4.9% ABV beer is clear, crisp, and sweet with hints of grapefruit and peach, and is available on tap at participating breweries including Neshaminy Creek’s Croydon taproom.

Stone Brewing Celebrates the Release of Stone 27th Anniversary Lemon Shark Double IPA

August 30, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

ESCONDIDO, California— For 27 years Stone Brewing has been trailblazing the craft beer industry and astounding fans with its big, bold anniversary ales. This year the nation’s 7th largest craft brewery announces the release of Stone 27th Anniversary Lemon Shark Double IPA featuring a unique blend of New Zealand ingredients.

Stone’s brewers travel across the globe seeking new hop varieties and ingredients in their ongoing beer exploration. A series of innovative beers combining Southern Hemisphere and US hops led to this year’s anniversary beer, which combines Riwaka, Magnum, Mosaic and the newly available Peacharine hops. It is also brewed with Phantasm, a dried grape skin extract from New Zealand that transforms over the course of fermentation to add intense tropical and white grape flavors to the beer. The resulting beer has sweet aromas of peach pulp, Bartlett pear, lemon peel, white wine and herbs. The hops mingle beautifully for flavors of ripe peach and pineapple, mango, orange, lemon and passion fruit. Herbal and sweet orange flavors linger alongside a pleasant bitterness.

“New Zealand hops are incredible for citrusy and topical beers. Many of these hop varieties are less commonly used, so we get some really unique flavor combinations that we love playing around with,” explained Steve Gonzalez, Stone Brewing Small Batch Sr. Manager of Brewing & Innovation. “I made a whole series of beers using different combinations of Southern Hemisphere hops and just knew that this one had what it takes to stand out as our coveted anniversary beer.”

The Lemon Shark is an apex predator that is uniquely social. It works well with the rest of the Lemon Shark school. A scuba diver himself, Gonzalez was inspired by his diving hobby to name a series of exploratory beers after sharks. This one earned its name for the way in which the flavors work especially well together, just like a hungry school of Lemon Sharks.

Stone Brewing welcomes fans to celebrate at the Stone 27th Anniversary Celebration on September 23, 2023. The invitational beer festival features tasters from more than 40 breweries at Stone’s flagship brewery in Escondido, CA. Tickets for the main festival and coveted Rare Beer access tickets are on sale now and expected to sell out.

West Sixth Brewing Releases Two New Beers Ahead of Labor Day

August 28, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

LEXINGTON, Kentucky— West Sixth Brewing, one of Kentucky’s largest craft breweries, has announced two new strategically important beers that will both be available ahead of the Labor Day Weekend.

Sixer Light Lager is a new year-round easy drinking light lager that the West Sixth team hopes will become everyone’s favorite beer for everything from social occasions like tailgating and backyard BBQs to the reward you give yourself after a few hours of yard work. Of course, Sixer Light Lager will be available in six packs – but West Sixth is banking on the early success of pre-sales of 12 packs into larger chain stores to serve as an indicator for how the beer will be widely received and marketed.

“From a strategic standpoint, it helps us considerably to offer a year-round light lager,” said Kelly Hieronymus, Marketing & Creative Director at West Sixth Brewing. “I won’t say lagers are going to unseat IPAs as the best-selling style of craft beer, but having something that almost takes less of a craft approach may be a way to re-introduce ourselves to a newer audience. We’re betting a lot of our current customers are going to be happy to see this one, as well – we’re even going to be kicking off a daily six o’clock happy hour at all of our taprooms in honor of Sixer.”

Burning Daylight is a big double IPA that officially joined the West Sixth lineup of flagship beers at the brewery’s annual IPA Fest, which this year was on August 12th. Although the beer has been available since 2022 in small, draft-only batches in West Sixth taprooms, Burning Daylight will now be offered year-round in six-packs and the 19.2 ounce stovepipe cans that West Sixth has seen such success with at music venues and stadiums. At 9.5% ABV, this Citra and Mosaic-dominated hop bomb brings big flavors but drinks smooth.

“If you know one thing about West Sixth Brewing, it’s that we love our IPAs,” said Andy Smith, head brewer at West Sixth. “Our original IPA is our best-seller and can be found on draft, in six packs, twelve packs, and 19.2 ounce cans in every corner of the state. But we’ve never had a year-round Double IPA and saw an opportunity to make something that would compete well in a market. Now they won’t have to wait for the next IPA Fest to get their hands on some Daylight.”

With both releases, West Sixth Brewing is sending a message to customers that even after a decade of enjoying success as one of Kentucky’s most successful craft breweries, they continue to listen to their fans and craft new beers that everyone can enjoy.

About West Sixth Brewing

Founded in 2012, West Sixth Brewing is an award-winning brewery based in Lexington, Kentucky, operating a taproom in our home city, a farm in Frankfort, a Louisville taproom in the NuLu neighborhood, and a taproom in the Box Park development in Newport, KY. We produce a wide variety of beers that we distribute throughout Kentucky and across the Ohio River in Cincinnati. We’re driven by brewing high-quality creative beers, making a positive social impact on the communities we’re a part of, and creating an awesome place to work for our team.

New Trail Launches State Light in Time for College Football Season

August 28, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

WILLIMASPORT, Pennsylvania – New Trail Brewing Company of Williamsport, PA has a new light beer releasing to fans of football and beer alike. State Light is a new 4.2% alcohol by volume, 105 calorie, 4.6g carb Light American Lager built to go on every-down.

“State Light was super fun to create and brew.” says Mike LaRosa, Director of Brewing Operations and Co-owner of New Trail. “This one is for the fans. Fans of college sports and of beer. We have a lot of fans for our Hazy IPAs, but a lot of them are still drinking something low-abv between their elevated craft choices, or after a few rounds of IPA. Our Light Lager fits the bill there, or satisfies a full day of tailgating before a game.”

LaRosa and the brewing team have been working to perfect Light Lager for about a year, and have dialed in the perfect tailgate beer for sports fans to enjoy all day long. “I think we have found the perfect balance of ingredients to make you say ‘I just want another one’. We are using a hop variety that is unique to just New Trail, and just enough of it to balance sweetness and impart the right characteristics.” says LaRosa.

“Since even before New Trail’s creation, our Founders have had some roots in State College. Modern craft drinkers are seeking out more and more well-made low abv craft lagers, and we can bring it to them, across PA.” says Don Rieck, Marketing Director, New Trail Brewing Company. “We’re big fans of the teams in State College, and our favorite place to drink this style is at a tailgate. It wasn’t a hard choice to position our new light beer for our fellow fans. State Light is going to be your First Round Draft Pick.”

State Light will be available at all beer stands in Beaver Stadium this upcoming football season in 16oz cans. For those not going into the stadium, State Light cans will be at beer retailers across Pennsylvania. State Light draft will also be across the State, inviting you to stay and cheer on the team.
