Wild Heaven Releases Sunburst IPA

March 31, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Wild HeavenATLANTA, GA —Wild Heaven Beer, Georgia’s 4th oldest production craft brewery, is pleased to introduce Sunburst IPA, its newest year-round beer, and flagship India Pale Ale. Wild Heaven’s brew team, led by award-winning Brewmaster Eric Johnson and Head Brewer Josh Franks, have perfected the brew over the past year. Growing in complexity and creativity with each batch, Sunburst emerged with juicy and tropical notes and a clean, crisp finish.

“My vision was to create the ultimate IPA that honors the best of two branches, West Coast and Hazy, while avoiding the tendencies many have to drift into overly extreme expressions of flavor,” says Wild Heaven’s co-founder and creative force, Eric Johnson. “Instead, by capturing what we love about those styles, we found our path.”

Sunburst IPA is such a leap forward; Wild Heaven Beer is bidding a fond farewell to our twin IPA flagships, Wise Blood and Altair. Beer is always about progress and moving forward, and Sunburst IPA represents that move. The perfect IPA should have a touch of bitterness and blend that with the notes that come from the best of modern hops for a clean, crisp finish. Sunburst IPA features a delightful blend of Talus, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic, Amarillo, Cascade, and Chinook hops – adding something special from each varietal.

Head Brewer Josh Franks says, “The first sip of the final version of Sunburst IPA off the tank proved that the effort and time spent on this project were completely worth it because we had captured magic in a glass.”

Distribution across Georgia launches the following week via Georgia Crown Distributing Co., including at most metro Atlanta Kroger stores, followed by the rest of the Wild Heaven Beer distribution footprint in Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina. It will be available on draft at select locations and at Wild Heaven’s Avondale Estates and West End taprooms. For fans of Wise Blood and Altair, limited amounts remain in the market and at the breweries.

Monday Night and Fire Maker Collaborate on Hop the Magic Dragon Double IPA

March 31, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Monday Night BrewingATLANTA, GA – Fire Maker Brewing and Monday Night Brewing are thrilled to announce the release of their new collaboration beer, Hop the Magic Dragon Double IPA, debuting at the inaugural Georgia Craft Brewers Festival at Atlantic Station on April 2, 2022.

“There will be more than 60 member breweries in attendance and 30+ collaboration brews to sample,” says Rachel Kiley, Monday Night Brewing’s Chief Operating Officer, and President of the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild. “Designing a beer with the fine folks at Fire Maker has been an incredibly creative and fun process—it’s an active celebration of what makes beer in our state so great.”

The goal of the collaboration is to celebrate hops in all forms, so the breweries worked together to gather three types of advanced hop products: Citra Cryo, Cashmere, Mosaic Incognito, Citra Incognito, and Mosaic Spectrum hops, plus Phantasm—a powder yielded from crushed Sauvignon Blanc grape skins—to showcase the unique properties of each in this new-school, Westside Double IPA. Each hop product comes together to create a big, juicy, Double IPA that bursts with flavors of mango, peach, lemon, lime, and subtle hints of coconut, spruce tips, and lemongrass. You’ll be glad you decided to tie one on with Hop the Magic Dragon, Double IPA, which clocks in at 8.2% ABV.

The can art was designed by artist Jordan Atkinson, and is just as vibrant as the beer itself. Inspired by Atlanta and the two breweries’ staple mascots, the label celebrates the magic of the collaboration. Fire Maker’s dragon comes to life, as Monday Night’s man hops on the otherworldly creature for an unforgettable adventure around Atlanta’s Westside.

“We’re so excited to brew with one of our favorite neighbors, and equally thrilled to release it at the Georgia Craft Brewers Festival,” says Elliott Hall, CEO/Co-Owner of Fire Maker Brewing Company, and Vice President of the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild, “which helps support the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild. It’s truly a dream come true!”

Hop the Magic Dragon Double IPA is releasing exclusively at the Georgia Craft Brewers Festival at Atlantic Station on April 2, 2022. After the festival, it will be available in Fire Maker’s taproom and in limited quantities in the Atlanta market. You can also try it a day early on April 1, with purchase of a VIP ticket to the festival.

Summit Brewing Co. Releases ‘Twins Pils’ Tribute Beer to Minnesota MLB Franchise

March 31, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Summit BrewingST PAUL, Minn. – Summit Brewing Co. has been a craft beer pioneer since 1986. The next year, the Minnesota Twins won the World Series. Coincidence? We think not. It’s what happens when two of Minnesota’s most revered brands come together. So let’s do it again. Nearly a year after announcing its monumental partnership with the Minnesota Twins, Summit Brewing Co. is releasing a new beer named in honor of its hometown team. Summit Twins Pils is stepping up to the plate and showing how Minnesota baseball has never beer’d so good.

In April 2021, the two beloved Minnesota brands announced they were joining together in a partnership that named Summit Brewing Co. an “Official Craft Beer” and the “Official Hometown Craft Beer” of the Minnesota Twins. Additionally, as part of the agreement Summit secured the naming rights to an open-air bar adjacent to the leftfield foul pole, the “Summit Brewing Pub,” and acquired the rights to use the Twins trademarks across the team’s multi-state territory. This paved the way for Summit to craft its own official Twins beer.

Inspired by the throwback Twins’ jerseys from the 1980s, the era Summit first came about, the Twins Pils can will feature the team’s iconic logo on a backdrop of baby blue trimmed with navy. Periscope, the Minneapolis agency that helped with the design, is creating a promotion campaign that also builds off the love of the game with the love of beer. Its rally-cry like theme is titled “Beer we go, Twins. Beer we go.” The beer itself will also embody classic, traditional flavors of a German pilsner. In fact, fans of our Keller Pils may notice it tastes quite similar. As a way to broaden the award-winning beer’s reach, it has been rebranded to don the Twins’ iconic name and emblem. By combining this quintessential Summit brew with the Twins logo and throwback baby blue color scheme, it truly embodies the saying of “One Team. One Territory.” The unfiltered pilsner features sweet, honey malt notes balanced with citrus hop flavors. It finishes crisp and clean.

“Since its introduction, Keller Pils has been a Summit fan favorite that has gone on to garner attention from beer drinkers and world-wide beer competitions alike. So much so, what started out as a limited release became a core brand due to continual requests for us to make it more available,” Brandon Bland, Director of Sales, said. “After years of knowing how good the beer itself was, we knew we had to find a way to get it out to a wider audience. After we were able to partner with the Minnesota Twins and become the “Official Hometown Craft Beer of the Minnesota Twins,” we knew it made sense to pair one of our top beers with this top partner. Over the past year, we have seen time and time again that the core values and the belief in relationships that we have long-had at Summit align strongly with those of the Twins organization as well. We couldn’t be more excited to bring this freshly re-branded-on-the-outside beer to even more Summit and Twins fans throughout our distribution territory.”

“From the beginning, I never would have imagined Summit would be able to support the Twins on this higher level. There’s no better way to celebrate this beautiful partnership than by having one of my favorite beers, one of the best beers we produce here at Summit, in Twins branded packaging,” Founder & President Mark O. Stutrud said. “From my point of view, we’re just really starting to celebrate this partnership. This is just one of many ways we’re going to really expand on having a lot more fun in the future.”

“The Twins and our partners at Summit each have a long and proud tradition of bringing Minnesotans together around the joy of a shared experience,” club President & CEO Dave St. Peter said. “Having our logo – along with our beloved baby blue color scheme – on the can of Summit Twins Pils is a terrific way to celebrate the return of baseball. I look forward to joining Twins fans in raising a glass at Target Field this season!”

Twins Pils will be available in 12-packs of 12oz cans and on draught at select bars, pubs, restaurants and liquor stores. It will also be available on draught and in 16oz cans throughout Target Field, including the Summit Brewing Pub. Find it at a store near you beginning March 21, 2022.

Since 2010, the Twins have played their home games at the award-winning Target Field in downtown Minneapolis. Alter Brewing’s Dank You Double IPA Returns

March 29, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Alter BrewingToday we’re talking about one of the first beers we ever brewed at Alter, Dank You – Double IPA, so it’s time to put on the historian cap and flex!

The original Dank You was one of the launch beers at our soft openings back in 2015. It was brewed with a proprietary “dank blend” of hops which not only spawned its name, but also gave rise to its dynamic personality. You see, when we went to brew a new batch of Dank You the following year that blend of hops was M.I.A. and we had to pivot to our own special mixture. To our delight this next batch was just as lip-smacking as the first, yet glowing with its own unique aroma and flavor profile. Thus, the ever-changing Dank You was born.

This year’s incredible iteration features two new hop superstars which I could describe to you… but I think I’ll let our head brewer Matt do the talking. “Like an 18-wheel logger barreling down a beach, Dank meets tropical in this heavy duty double IPA. Brewed with caramel malts to give it a west-coast appearance and flavor, while hammering you with huge tropical stank from CryoPop and Eureka hops.?”

Dank you for reading. Now hop to it, there’s beer to enjoy.

Dank You is a Brewhouse Exclusive and only available in cans and on draft at Downers Grove and St. Charles right now (while supplies last).

Community Brewing Ventures Rebrands as Bevana

March 28, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Community BrewingNEWTON, North Carolina – Community Brewing Ventures (CBV), launched in 2020 to help connect small beverage makers to the wider market, is entering a new phase of its existence. With triple-digit growth over the course of its first year in operation, the beverage platform is launching a new name to better represent its mission of bringing the best drinks from all over the world to craft enthusiasts, wherever they may be.

“We have always been about supporting passion,” said Aaron Gore, Bevana’s Sr. Director of Business Development. “Our purpose is to connect these incredibly talented, enthusiastic craftspeople with customers who can appreciate and fall in love with what they are creating. Your next favorite drink could be out there right now, and you would never have the opportunity to discover it, simply because of where you live. We help to bridge that gap.”

By combining the resources of independent craft beverage companies from across the world, Bevana is the only platform able to bring the best artisan products to markets they would otherwise never be able to access. Rather than the aggressive acquisitions and cutthroat tactics of some other companies, Bevana instead focuses on empowering small businesses, and the skilled artisans behind them, so that they can reach their goals and continue to innovate and create.

“We understand the challenges that small beverage makers face because we’ve lived most of them,” said Andrew Durstewitz, CEO and founder of Bevana and D9 Brewing. “We created this platform to help solve some of the problems that we were facing ourselves as we grew D9 Brewing Company. The success that we had there was what made us realize that we could help other companies that are up against the same challenges.”

Having already helped nine beverage companies grow and reach new markets, Bevana is expanding its reach dramatically, with more than a dozen others already committed to joining the growing network of artisans. Recently launched partners include Side Hustle Brews, the largest craft brewery in the United Arab Emirates; Fatty’s Beer Works of South Carolina, a noted producer of trending styles; and Tranquilo Hemp Seltzer, a lifestyle brand of non-alcoholic CBD seltzers containing 20mg of full-spectrum CBD.

Traditional retail distribution is only one component of Bevana’s launch, however, with the launch of its e-commerce platform this month. Carrying beverages from across the Bevana portfolio, customers will be able to discover some of the best and most exciting drinks from across the industry, without the headaches and limitations of current digital alcohol marketplaces.

“Buying alcohol online has always been a frustrating, expensive process for many customers. Individual beverage companies can typically only ship within their state, and it’s a significant burden for them to manage even then. For other marketplaces, oftentimes they either have to warehouse enormous amounts of products that they may never be able to sell, or they have to buy it directly from a retailer. Either way, that’s a lot of added expense that usually gets passed on to the customer,” explained Gore. “With Bevana, we can offer an unbeatable selection of different beverages without that extra step. That gives us the ability to connect people and makers not only more affordably, but with better quality control, and better service, wherever we ship.”

The Bevana e-commerce platform can ship orders to 44 states, provide a broad selection of beverages from a growing portfolio of styles and categories, and directly support independent small businesses from across the beverage industry.

“Bevana allows us to focus on our own backyard, while exposing the rest of the country to beers that we are really proud of,” said James Moriarty, owner of Urban Brew Labs in Chicago. “It’s been an easy partnership that allows us to keep our focus on ourselves and make the beer that we believe in.”

Be one of the first to order a shipment of the world’s best beverages by signing up for notifications on our website.

Bevana is always looking to partner with beverage makers that have passion, a strong community connection, and a product that they believe in. Want to become a partner and connect with customers you may otherwise never have access to? Contact our Business Development team here.

About Bevana

Bevana is a platform that connects artisan beverage makers with the eager consumers they would otherwise be unable to reach. We partner with small to medium size beverage makers to keep the craft in Craft Beverage, and to provide customers with the best liquid, no matter where they are. Welcome to Bevana, “Beverage Nirvana” , where beverage and bliss meet.

Ska Brewing Mexican Logger Returns in a Can

March 28, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Ska BrewingDURANGO, CO– Some call it springing forward, others say the start of patio weather, and in Southwest Colorado this time of year has come to be known as Mexican Logger season. 2022 marks the twenty third year that Ska Brewing has brewed the original craft lager, and a return to normalcy for the brewery that hasn’t celebrated this release for three years.

Ska has brewed this easy-drinking light lager since 1999, and received many accolades for it since— including Great American Beer Festival® awards in the International Style Pilsner category in 2015 and 2016. It’s crisp and clean, cold fermented with a lager yeast strain from Mexico City and weighing in at a crushable 5 percent ABV.

Ska is thrilled to celebrate the kickoff of spring with this beer release on Thursday, March 31. Durango locals The Lawn Chair Kings will play beginning at 5pm, and brewery-goers can expect beer and food specials to celebrate the occasion. “Without this party to kickoff the season, I just wake up one day drinking beer in the middle of the summer without realizing it even began,” says Ska Brewing CEO Dave Thibodeau. “Patio season deserves a proper kickoff this year.”

In 2020, Ska released Mexican Logger’s dark-hued sister to satisfy the urge for Mexican-style Lager during the cold months. Mexican-style Lager Dark will go into hibernation now until the fall.

ABOUT SKA BREWING

Based in Durango, Colorado, Ska Brewing was founded in 1995 and produces more than a dozen award- winning beers fueled with Ska music, and lots of it. Pioneers in the canned craft beer movement, Ska Brewing is known for an array of styles in 12 oz cans that include Mexican Logger, Modus Hoperandi, and Rue B. Soho. The first of its 2022 seasonal releases, DC Brau’s Legislator: Barrel Aged Doppelbock spent 18-months aging in bourbon barrels, which imparted notes of dark stone fruit and toffee, with a warming oak finish. The Legislator carries robust notes of raisin, fig and toffee, as well as the subtle flavors of cocoa, plum and prune. This lightly carbonated beer was brewed using Super Saazer hops, and features a balanced bitterness and a silky smooth mouthfeel with 10.5% ABV.

Modeled after traditional Irish Stouts, Incurable Sadness is a deep brown to jet black colored ale with a pronounced roast character. Coffee and bittersweet chocolate flavors blend harmoniously with its balanced hop bitterness for a medium body and smooth mouthfeel. This stout is brewed using East Kent Goldings Hops and is 4.5% ABV.

Incurable Sadness is available in 4 packs of 16oz cans; The Legislator is available in 4 packs of 12oz cans. Both are available for purchase at DC Brau’s Taproom and select retailers around the D.C. metro area.

Ska Distributing Adds Bruz Beers to Portfolio in Southwest Colorado

March 27, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Ska DistributingDURANGO, CO— Ska Distributing is excited to add Belgian-inspired Bruz Beers to the gamut of independent brands in its portfolio for Southwest Colorado distribution.

The following beers will be unleashed across the region this week:

Diablo Colorado – Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale – Diablo Colorado is a traditional Belgian-style Golden Strong ale brewed with all Colorado sourced ingredients. A pale blond beer with a dense white head and esters of apple, pear, ripe peach and honey. This crisp, clean beer finishes dry and slightly bitter with lingering fruit. 9.5% ABV  Available in 16oz 4-pack cans.

Right Hand Man – Pilsner – Pilsner is hugely popular in Belgium. Right Hand Man is a premium Pilsner-style beer made with 100% malt, noble hops and a clean lager yeast. It is malty and refined with a lightly hoppy aroma and a clean, crisp lager finish. A classic!  5.2% ABV  Available in 12oz 6-pack cans.

Roodbruin – Flanders Red-Brown Ale – Roodbruin’s aroma is complex and tantalizing – a preview of what awaits. Stone fruit scents and maltiness with wild yeast notes and a touch of dried fruit give the beer a perfumy nose. The flavor is malty up-front with a prominent tartness and notes of sour cherries, blackberries, raspberries, red grapes, dates and dried fruit. There are hints of aromatic vinegar and earthy wild yeasts, and the balance of flavors is perfectly proportioned. The finish is long, dry and complex with lingering stone fruit and malt notes.  A blend of a special Bruz dark ale with Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste’s Cuvée Des Jacobins Prestige, Bruz Roodbruin is sophisticated, flavorful and complex. Bruz Roodbruin is the second in a series of three beers produced in collaboration with Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste in Kortrijk, Belgium. 7% ABV  Available in 500 mL cork and cage bottles.

Farmstead Funk – Belgian-style Saison – Farmstead Funk is a Saison aged with Brettanomyces wild yeast. Medium gold with a white head, its aroma is grainy with a light touch of summer fruits and funk. The flavor features a nice hop bitterness, bready malt, fruit notes of apples and apricots and a pleasant Brett funkiness. Generous carbonation gives it a refreshing quality that lasts into the long fruity and funky finish. 7.6% ABV  Available in 375 mL cork and cage bottles.

Till The Earth – Belgian-style Spelt Saison – A Classic Farmhouse-style saison made with the ancient grain Spelt, and Noble hops. Lots of fruity fermentation notes like Apricot and Peach, with a touch of white pepper spice. 5.7% ABV  Available in 500 mL cork and cage bottles.

Abbey Series Mixed 4-Pack – Belgian-Style Single, Dubbel, Tripel and Quadrupel – Traditional monastery brewing is built around four distinct beer styles. While not every monastery brewery produces all four, they represent the core of Trappist and Abbey brewing. Their names come from the relative amount of malted barley in each style. We are pleased to offer this 4-Pack containing examples of each of these beer styles. – ABV Range 3.8% – 10.5% ABV  Available in 16oz 4-pack cans.

There will be a kickoff party held at Ska’s World Headquarters this Thursday, March 10 beginning at 4pm. Various Bruz Beers will be available for purchase on tap. Come meet the Bruz team, including the owners, brewers and sales team.

ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP

Ryan Evans, the owner of Bruz Beers, spent his college years in Durango, Colorado attending and ultimately graduating from Ft. Lewis College. He was enjoying the delicious beers Ska was serving up in the late 90’s, and always had a fondness for their beers as well as their edgy attitude.

Bruz Beers has been hugely successful on the Front Range, with two tasting rooms in the Denver area as well as a growing wholesale distribution network. Looking to continue the growth, Evans states “I always wanted to bring our beers back to my old romping grounds of Southwest Colorado! It’s too far away to properly service on our own from Denver. With that being said, our partnership with Ska Distributing allows us to bring our brand full circle and return to the area. Working with friends is a bonus as well.”.

 ABOUT BRUZ BEERS
