Saucy Brew Works Launches New Crowdfunding Raise with Start Engine

July 31, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Saucy Brew WorksSaucy Brew Works recently launched their second public crowdfunding raise with Start Engine. Now you can join the Saucy State of Mind as an investor of their company and member of the team. The goal of this raise is to increase capital that will assist in their current and upcoming expansion projects such as their new brewing facility in Independence, Ohio neighboring Top Golf, and their next Brewpub and Coffeehouse set to open in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Over the past year, Saucy Brew Works has exceeded expectations within the service and craft beer industries through increased production of their beer for state-wide distribution and in-house sales, and the openings of additional restaurants. In Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) sales, the “industry” term for grocery store sales, they are one of the top five selling brands in Cleveland, and as of June 2020, the fastest growing brand in the state of Ohio. They opened three new locations between July 2020 – March 2021, these include a taproom and coffeehouse at Pinecrest in Orange, Ohio, and brewpubs in Columbus, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan. They will be opening a kitchen at the Pinecrest taproom this summer.

With the new ability to share ownership of Saucy Brew Works with friends, family, community members, and supporters throughout the country, Saucy will be able to create more job opportunities in-and-out of their facilities. Further expansion will also become more accessible. As well, the ability to grow in the craft beer category through additional distributor partnerships in selected states.

One of the tenets of this raise is to give Saucy Brew Works’ current and future employees additional opportunities and continued education with the belief that those employees will become lifelong brand advocates and move up within the organization. “We know that the more we invest in our team, the more they will invest back into their company and help build the communities we call home,” said David Lentz, Accounting Manager. It is their notion that using the “pub and spoke” approach will garner increased opportunities for community members – an effort to give back to each neighborhood they join.

Vertical Wellness Announces Retail Launch Of CBD Beverage Portfolio

July 30, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Vertical WellnessLos Angeles, CA – Vertical Wellness, a leader in the branded health and wellness space, has announced the long-anticipated launch of its fully developed portfolio of CBD Beverages at retail this year. Initial brands will include the Vertical Wellness-owned brands Taos® and Hemp-Moji, as well as celebrity and athlete-driven wellness and lifestyle brands yet to be announced. Products will include a line of CBD iced teas, CBD sparkling beverages, CBD waters, and functional Hemp shots. Products will also include Vertical Wellness’ patented Fast-Absorption technology, and other proprietary formulations ensuring the highest quality and greatest efficacy for consumers in the wellness space.

Following the recent announcement of Vertical Wellness’ merger with CanaFarma Hemp Products Corp. [CSE: CNFA], a full-service company operating in the hemp industry offering a full range of hemp-related products and services, the launch of these CBD beverages allows the newly combined company to boldly enter the fast-growing Cannabis Beverage market, estimated to reach $2.8 Billion by 2025 according to Million Insights.

Vitaly Fargesen, SVP of Strategy for CanaFarma added, “One of the most exciting things about our pending combination with Vertical is Smoke and his team’s deep beverage experience. We are fully supportive of these efforts and look forward to investing behind the brands.”

The Vertical Wellness management team, led by CEO J. Smoke Wallin, brings decades of combined experience successfully building beverage brands in the beer, wine, spirits, RTD, and water categories. The team has made $100s of millions in beverage-related M&A, investments, and exits. Early on, Wallin sold a bottled water brand he created to Nestle. Vertical’s team has already secured national distribution partners, with an overlay of independent wholesalers and brokers to ensure their route-to-market success. The initial launch in late 2021 will focus on 6 US markets, with national expansion slated for 2022.

Wallin, a former Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America “WSWA” Chairman & President who also recently announced the launch of Lambay Irish Whiskey Americas through his Taliera brand company commented, “We believe cannabis beverages will be one of the most important form factors for consumers. My criteria are the liquid has to taste great and at the same time, the cannabinoids need to be effective. Our team has worked with the world’s best flavor houses and scientists over the past three years developing these beverages to achieve exactly that. I can’t wait to get these to market!”

The merger between Vertical Wellness and CanaFarma will make Vertical Wellness the first house of CBD brands to go public. The combined company will be worth over $50 million but could be significantly higher depending on stock price post-announcement. The Vertical Wellness management team, including CEO J. Smoke Wallin, will run the combined business. The combined company will go under CanaFarma Corp. as the corporate entity but will keep the Vertical Wellness name for the brand portfolio.

CanaFarma went public in March 2020 just as the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The company had a successful IPO on the Canadian Securities Exchange, trading up to about $1.50 a share and ending up being an over $200 million market cap company.

“Building new and existing CBD brands in the beverage space opens ourselves up to many more opportunities,” says Kevin Henry, VP of Brands at VWEL who played a major role in building multiple alcohol brands in the US, including the Peroni beer brand for 7+ years. Henry continued, “On-premise accounts like restaurants, bars, and hotels give us a chance to really bring these brands to life and engage with consumers firsthand, which is especially important for a new category like CBD where education and advocacy are key.”

Sierra Nevada Releases Seasonal Oktoberfest Beer

July 29, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Sierra NevadaCHICO, California – Today Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. announced the release of its 2021 limited edition fall seasonal, Oktoberfest, the brewery’s ode to beer’s largest party. This year’s edition is an Amber Märzen, a traditional German beer with a 5.5% ABV.

“The beer has a malty sweetness with a little bit of herbal, floral hop presence, and the bitterness levels are just right to balance the malt character for drinkability,” says Scott Jennings, Innovation Brewmaster at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. He adds, “it’s a substantial beer but it’s really, really drinkable.”

When developing this edition of Sierra Nevada’s Oktoberfest, the brewers were aiming to produce a darker malt-forward Oktoberfest beer, and the traditional Amber Märzen style fit the bill. Jennings notes that this year’s darker style is a departure from the brewery’s seasonal Oktoberfest offerings of the past few years which was in the style of modern fest biers, such as Helles bock, that began rising to popularity at Oktoberfest in Munich in the 1970s and 1980s. He adds that an Amber Märzen would have been a mainstay at Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich prior to that shift toward lighter styles.

Sierra Nevada’s 2021 Oktoberfest pours a clear deep amber color with aromas of dark bread and graham cracker. The flavor is well balanced between sweet maltiness and delicate hop bitterness with a medium body, making this beer a solid example of the traditional Amber Märzen style.

It begins shipping July 26 and can be found on retail shelves while supplies last into the fall season.

River North Brewery to Release A Triple Cinnamon Mr. Sandman Imperial Stout

July 28, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

River North BreweryDENVER — Cinnamon is a great addition to many things: coffee, tea, any kind of baked goods like cinnamon rolls (obviously), even pizza crust and roasts. What’s another great combination none other than beer with cinnamon?! River North Brewery is releasing an imperial stout brewed with three types of cinnamon this Saturday, July 31st.

Don’t be discouraged by “triple cinnamon” and think that it’s going to be overpowered by cinnamon flavors. This Mr. Sandman variant has been brewed with three varieties of cinnamon sourced from the far corners of the world: Sri Lankan Ceylon, Vietnamese Cassia, and Indonesian Korintje. These three cinnamon varieties make this imperial stout sweet and vivacious with cinnamon notes that will dance around your mouth and give you a pleasant warm feeling that might make you wish it was Fall and you were wrapped up in a cozy blanket.

An 11% ABV imperial stout with a smooth, silky body is perhaps the best breakfast beer paired with cinnamon rolls and a cup of coffee on the side. Not that you need to save this beer for breakfast as it’s also perfect with your evening dessert paired with carrot cake or a dark chocolate cake.

Triple Cinnamon Mr. Sandman will be released on tap and in 375ml bottles at both taprooms starting Saturday, July 31st. If you haven’t had any Mr. Sandman, whether it’s the original, whiskey barrel aged or another variant, you will be pleasantly surprised with this variety of River North Brewery’s well known imperial stout.

Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro also capitalizes on the success of Peanut Butter Milk Stout, which launched as a seasonal in early 2020. Due to consumer delight and demand, Left Hand quickly turned the popular new brand into a year-round offering.

The addition of nitrogen to their traditionally carbonated Peanut Butter Milk Stout combines Left Hand’s signature super smooth mouthfeel and hypnotic cascade with a flavor profile exuding peanut buttery bliss and notes of milk chocolate. “Nitrogen makes perfect sense for our Peanut Butter Milk Stout. Gas spec is an ingredient just like malt or hops, and nitrogen helps deliver that creaminess you crave from a peanut butter beer,” said Jeff Joslin, Left Hand’s Director of Brewing Operations.

“Our classic Milk Stout’s aromas of roasted coffee, milk chocolate, brown sugar, and vanilla cream are the perfect canvas for the rich and nutty flavors of peanut butter,” said Jill Preston, Director of Marketing and Hospitality at Left Hand. “Whether you are pouring hard from the bottle or enjoying straight from the tap, its pillowy head and velvety mouthfeel will caress your palate smoother than a spoonful of creamy peanut butter.” It’s an adult peanut butter cup you can drink.

Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro is shipping now in 6-packs of 12oz bottles and kegs. Check out Left Hand’s beer finder for locations nearest you and click here for digital assets.

Left Hand Brewing Introduces Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro Year-Round

July 28, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Left Hand BrewingLONGMONT, Colo. – Time to go nuts! Left Hand Brewing Company, industry pioneers in Nitro beer styles and technology, is debuting a new Nitro year-round beer, Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro. This Nitro Milk Stout embodies the flavor of a peanut butter cup with a super smooth Nitro mouthfeel. Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro enters Left Hand’s lineup as the sweet and savory companion to their highly recognized Milk Stout Nitro. Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro will be available nationwide year-round to “Pour Hard” from the bottle and savor on draft.

Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro is unique not only in experience, but also in pouring technique. It joins Milk Stout Nitro as one of two nitrogenated brands from the brewery to be distributed in bottles. Milk Stout Nitro originally debuted in bottles at the Great American Beer Festival. As the first nitrogenated American craft beer to be bottled, Left Hand solved the riddle of delivering nitrogenated beer without a widget with the “Pour Hard” method. With this pouring technique, consumers become an essential participant, helping create the nitrogen cascade. To “Pour Hard” is to aggressively pour beer at 180°, agitating the nitrogen out of solution and creating a mesmerizing cascade that culminates in a thick, luscious head. Milk Stout Nitro debuted utilizing this method in 2011 and as it celebrates ten years of impact on Nitro technology and innovation in the industry, it welcomes Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro as its “butter half”.
