November 28, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Lakewood BrewingDALLAS, Texas – Lakewood Brewing released its 2021 Seduction six-packs featuring two cans each of three in-demand favorites from its popular Seduction Series – Double Stuffed, French Quarter, and Sin Mint. This is the first time Double Stuffed has been available outside the Lakewood Brewing Taproom, where it sold out in a matter of hours, while both French Quarter and Sin Mint are returning fan-favorites.

Lakewood’s Seduction six-packs feature variants of Lakewood’s Temptress, the number one craft stout in Texas, is available in the Lakewood Taproom, as well as at craft beer retailers in Texas now. Taking Lakewood’s bestselling Temptress Imperial Milk Stout and infusing it with bold flavors has made Seduction one of Lakewood’s best-selling seasonal series.

“We know immediately when we have a winning Seduction brew based on how it sells in our taprooms,” said Wim Bens, founder and president of Lakewood Brewing. “The three flavors we’re releasing this year were all incredibly popular when we offered them as individual limited releases. French Quarter and Sin Mint are cult favorites among the Lakewood Brewing Company fandom, and Double Stuffed has sold out every time we’ve made a Taproom-only batch – it was time to set her free statewide.”

French Quarter Temptress is flavored with bourbon barrel-aged coffee from Noble Coyote Coffee Roasters and a touch of chicory. Sin Mint Temptress has mint and a touch of graham cracker, like a liquid thin mink cookie. Double Stuffed Temptress, being offered for the first time outside the family-owned North Texas brewery, is stuffed not once, but twice with milk’s favorite cookie. Temptress, Lakewood’s flagship and most popular brew, appeals to beer and non-beer drinkers alike given its unique flavor profile that pairs well with bold flavors and ingredients like those in the Seduction Series.

Lakewood’s Seduction six-packs are already on Texas craft beer shelves. The curious and the die-hard can visit Lakewood’s Beer Finder to find it near them, or go online to order. Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company Marks Partnership with Florida State Parks Foundation with a New Beer

November 27, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Ivanhoe Park BrewingORLANDO, Florida – The Florida State Parks Foundation announced a partnership with the Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company and a new collaboration beer, Lake Hopp’r Florida Lager.

As part of the partnership Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company, an independent craft brewery and tasting room in Orlando, is brewing a collaboration beer, Lake Hopp’r Florida Lager, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Foundation, as well as offering corporate volunteering at the local Florida State Parks.

“Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. continues to carry on our Commitment to Community,” CEO and Founder, Glenn Closson said. “Working with Florida State Parks Foundation, we are not only excited to be able to offer additional funds, but also our time to really help their mission and volunteering to assist in projects at the Florida State Parks.”

Their next corporate volunteer day will be at Lake Louisa State Park on November 21, he said.

“We are excited to enter into this partnership with Ivanhoe Park Brewing which will benefit our fabulous award-winning state parks,” said Foundation CEO Julia Gill Woodward. “We are always delighted to work with corporate partners like Ivanhoe Park Brewing who share our commitment to preserving and protecting our state parks.”

Located in Ivanhoe Village, one of Orlando’s Main Street districts, the brewery has been open since 2018 and entered distribution later that year in Central Florida with City Beverages.  That distribution partnership has grown and allowed Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. to work with Wayne Densch, Inc and Daytona Beverages to expand their market reach. They are looking to add more distributors in the first quarter of 2022.

This new partnership with the Florida State Parks Foundation will allow Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co. to brew an amazing Florida Lager that will be easy drinking and 4% ABV to be enjoyed throughout the State of Florida.

The Foundation, founded in 1993 as Friends of Florida State Parks and renamed in 2018, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation whose mission is to support and help sustain the Florida Park Service, its 175 award-winning parks and trails, local Friends groups and more than 20,000 park volunteers.

It does this through programs that preserve and protect state parks, educate visitors about the value of state parks, encourage community engagement and active use of state parks, and advocacy.

The volunteer Board of Directors represents private and public sectors as well as local and statewide interests.

November 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

SLO BrewSAN LUIS OBISPO, California – Tis’ the season for a piney, West Coast IPA brewed with a healthy dose of…Christmas trees.  Holidaze IPA (7% ABV) from SLO Brew is crafted with fresh spruce tree tips, Citra hops and a touch of orange peel for a bright and juicy beer that drinks like a hike through a pine forest. The brewers at SLO Brew didn’t hold back, adding heaps of spruce tips in each batch of Holidaze IPA, enough for an entire Christmas tree and then some.

“We wanted to invoke the sensation of a fresh-cut Christmas tree in beer form,” said brewmaster Steve Courier. “One sip of Holidaze and you will be greeted with bold piney hop flavors that will sure to get you in a festive spirit”.

Chuckanut Brewery Releases Rhinebier

November 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Chuckanut BreweryBELLINGHAM, WA – Chuckanut Brewery first created Rhinebier two years ago but has not released it since… until now! Chuckanut Rhinebier is a new take on a classic Kolsch style, a beer common in Cologne, Germany along the Rhine River. Chuckanut’s Rhinebier is where oldschool Kolsch meet new school flair. Traditional Mittlefruh hops interplay with Saaz hops giving a pronounced fresh cut grass character up front giving way to the classic Kolsch malt character in the finish. The malt bill is all Pilsner and Vienna plus a heaping amount of Spelt malt for notes of graininess, depth and refreshing finish that keeps this beer crispy and clean!

Chuckanut’s Rhinebier is terrific with pasta, light sauces, poultry dishes and salads. It’s also a great lawn-mower beer that is easy on the pallet and thirst quenching. Rhinebier is a little different from a traditional Kolsch but just as refreshing with a bit more body and sweetness!

Chuckanut Brewery, located at both 601 West Holly St, Bellingham and 11937 Higgins Airport Way in Burlington, was awarded National Small Brewery/Brewer of the Year 2011 at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. Currently both the South and North Nut offer on-site beverages, to-go beer and pick-up for kegs, growlers and bottles of Chuckanut beer. Guests of allages are welcome at both locations. A full menu at North Nut can be had onsite, to go or delivered. The South Nut Skagit Tap Room & Brewery in Burlington is located at the Port of Skagit.

Fresh, Fruity Selections Lead the Way in Beck Flavors’ 2022 ‘Flavor of the Year’

November 25, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Beck FlavorsMARYLAND HEIGHTS, Missouri – People’s tastes change over time, often influenced by their circumstances and even their values. That change is emboldened by the 2022 Flavor of the Year announcement this week by Beck Flavors, as we get a unique glimpse into consumer taste trends.

Beck’s marketing and research and development teams joined forces to analyze consumer flavor preferences and mega trends that are driving buying behavior to better understand where these trends will pivot in the coming year and what that means for product innovation. They chose winners in the fruit, botanical, and innovation categories as well as a new indulgent category.

Focus on Freshness and Health

In the fruit category, Clementine—a sweet, crisp, and refreshing citrus flavor—was the winner. According to Beck’s research, 83% of consumers globally agree that having a healthy diet can build immunity to help prevent illness and disease.

“Given the pandemic, there’s been a huge consumer focus on better eating—which involves calorie consciousness, better ingredients, lower sugars or carbs, and a shift toward flavors that represent a ‘healthier’ position,” said Megan Gibson, Marketing Manager at Beck Flavors.

The flavor of the year in the botanical category was Elderflower, another choice that connotes health and freshness. “Floral ingredients are being incorporated into more foods and beverages,” said Messina Truttman, VP of Sales and Marketing at Beck Flavors. “These unique botanicals pair perfectly with more familiar flavors like apple, pear, blackberry, or passionfruit to create something consumers can ease into.”

Seeking New Experiences

With the pandemic putting a halt on people’s travel plans over the past year, consumers are craving new experiences. With Starfruit Apricot as the winner of the innovation category, that desire from consumers materializes in a more adventurous flavor profile.

“We’ve found that 63% of consumers find exotic foods and beverages from all over the world appealing, so we are constantly exploring new exotic pairings that work well across a series of applications,” says Adam Berge, Applications Technologist at Beck Flavors.

The Power of Nostalgia

Finally, in the new indulgent category, the winner was Coconut Caramel cookie, which hearkens back to the Samoa Girl Scout cookie. Now more than ever, consumers are drawn toward comfort foods and beverages. In fact, Beck found that nearly a third of global consumers have increased their preference for nostalgic and traditional flavors in the beverage category.

Mother Earth Brewing Company Releases Final Project X Series Brew of 2021

November 25, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Mother Earth BrewingVISTA, California & NAMPA, Idaho – Mother Earth’s Beer + Art series, Project X, peaks just in time for the holidays with a radical new look and aggressive West Coast-style Hazy to match.

Conditioned Reflex features the soul-stirring artwork of Portland, OR-based artist Corrie Clark, also known as Rekkless Effekt. The metallic label showcases a rabid, salivating animal bearing its teeth, foreshadowing the drinking experience within. The beer impresses in equal measure, with a pineapple and passionfruit aroma explosion at the forefront and a juicy, yet more assertive finish than the Series’ former selections, thanks to heavy-handed late additions of Mosaic and Vic Secret hops. The net result is something that is aggressive inside and out and should satisfy hop heads feeling disconnected from today’s sweeter examples of the style.

“For the last Project X of the year we really wanted to create a beer that appealed to those looking for more oomph in a Hazy while not going totally off the rails. I think we were able to strike a nice balance between a West Coast IPA and the juicier offerings folks have come to expect. This is really kind of a hybrid IPA that should appeal to anyone that loves hops.”

– Chris Baker – Director of Brewing Operations, Mother Earth Brew Co.

Conditioned Reflex is available in 16oz cans and on draft where independent craft beers are sold or at the Mother Earth tasting room in Nampa, ID.
