Second Chance Beer Company and Coronado Brewing Collaborate for Dog Beach Double IPA

December 28, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Second Chance Beer CompanySAN DIEGO, California – Second Chance Beer Company and Coronado Brewing Company have collaborated to brew Dog Beach Double IPA, a limited release available on draft and in four-packs to go.

The beer, which was brewed at Second Chance’s Carmel Mountain headquarters and has an 8% ABV, is the first collaboration between the San Diego breweries. It is available at Second Chance’s Carmel Mountain and North Park locations, as well as on draft at Coronado’s taprooms in Bay Park, Coronado, and Imperial Beach.

Dog Beach has Mosaic, Strata, and Talus hops with aromas of citrus, pine, and slight earthiness. It is full bodied, with the citrus and dank notes carrying the flavor alongside subtle tropical fruits. As with all Double IPAs, the finish is bitter with a mild malty sweetness.

“Quite simply, there’s nothing more San Diego than beaches, dogs, and beer,” said Second Chance CEO Virginia Morrison. “Creating Dog Beach with our friends at Coronado Brewing was fun. There are few beaches around the country more beautiful than Coronado so we knew it was the right fit. We hope all beer and dog lovers enjoy this creation.”

“We are absolutely thrilled with how Dog Beach Double IPA turned out,” said Coronado Brewing Chief Commercial Officer Clinton Smith. “Second Chance has been making award-winning beers for years, and it’s great we were able to come together to create this awesome beer. I have spent many hours with our family and dogs at Dog Beach in Coronado, so this collaboration has extra special meaning to me personally.”

Dog Beach is also available in cans at independent craft beer bottleshops throughout San Diego County.

BAH-HUMBUG: New Beer Marley’s Chains from Neshaminy Creek

December 28, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Neshaminy CreekCROYDON, Pennsylvania – Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company (Neshaminy Creek) is celebrating the holiday season with a beer release that’s as festive as fruitcake in a glass! Marley’s Chains, which releases Friday, December 16, was originally brewed as a German-style Weizenbock with a touch of zesty and pleasantly sweet orange blossom honey. It then took a long winter’s nap for 18 months in Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey barrels before brewers added a generous helping of pomegranate puree. The final product is layered and complex with dessert-like notes of fig, plum, banana bread and spicy clove with just a hint of tartness from the fresh pomegranate.

Best shared with friends and family around a warm fire, this 8.9% ABV brew is a taproom bottle exclusive, only available at Neshaminy Creek’s Croydon, Dublin and New Hope taprooms.

“Marley was dead, to begin with, but this beer is alive with the holiday spirit!” says Neshaminy Creek Head Brewer, Jason Ranck. “When we first set out to make a themed beer for the winter season, we knew we wanted to harness great old-school fruit flavors with rich maltiness and spicy finishes, and once we tasted the delicious barrel-aged beer we knew we created something reminiscent of a classic Dickensian Christmas. Bring some to your holiday party, and you’re sure to be the Founder of the Feast!”

About Neshaminy Creek Brewery

Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company is an award-winning craft brewery and taproom located just north of Philadelphia in Croydon, PA. We try to spend as much time making and enjoying incredibly good beer and as little time as possible making up rules about beer! Founded in 2010, Neshaminy Creek has grown exponentially over the years and expanded distribution across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. In Summer 2020, Neshaminy Creek opened another location inside the Ferry Market located in New Hope, PA where guests can purchase onsite pints and beer to-go. Neshaminy Creek opened their third location inside The Station in Dublin, PA in October 2021. We rely on our DIY ethos to make craft beer for defiant misfits like us! Our goal is to make every moment someone spends with us as enjoyable as humanly possible. That’s what beer is for.

Brewery Vivant Celebrates 12 Years with Collaboration Beer Release

December 28, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Brewery VivantGRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Brewery Vivant is turning 12 years old on December 20.  The nationally recognized Grand Rapids brewery plans to celebrate with the same community forward approach it has taken since day one.  When the doors open on Tuesday a limited release beer is going on sale that will both mark the special occasion as well as benefit a local non-profit.

This year’s community partner is the Gear Library’s Thrive Outside program. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer go to benefit the organization and to assist them in furthering their mission to find equitable access to everyone for having fun in outdoor spaces. The organization does this by providing free outdoor gear rentals for everything from sledding & snowshoeing, to hammocking & yard games.

“We love what Thrive Outside is doing to provide this equipment to the kids and families of Grand Rapids.  Enjoying the outdoors is something that can make such a positive difference in people’s lives.  We hope this partnership helps raise awareness for all they do as well as some much needed funding. We are so proud to partner with them,” says Kris Spaulding, President & Co-owner of Brewery Vivant.

“Thrive Outside is honored to celebrate the 12 year anniversary with Brewery Vivant. We hope that this collaboration helps spread awareness of our work to ultimately bring outdoor gear and access to every resident of Grand Rapids.” adds Sam Truby, Gear Library Supervisor

The beer is a Rosé Saison, brewed with hibiscus and sangiovese grape must. This celebratory ale will be released on Tuesday, December 20th for sale in commemorative hand dipped wax top bottles as well as being available on draft. There is a QR code printed on the bottles that will take users to the Thrive Outside website to learn more about it. Staff from Thrive Outside will be in the taproom that day and available to demonstrate select rental gear and answer any questions.

“At Vivant we are known for brewing saison beer styles that are light & crisp and great partners with food.”  Says Jason Spaulding, Brewery Vivant’s CEO.  “This special recipe was designed to be brewed in a celebratory way.  Adding Sangiovese grape must during fermentation gives the beer a bright color and small bold bubbles.  It is sort of a beer version of a rose sparkling wine which is perfect for this time of year.” he adds.

About Brewery Vivant

Brewery Vivant is the world’s first LEED certified commercial microbrewery and a Certified B Corporation. We brew beer in the European tradition with the addition of American ingenuity. At our pub we strive to elevate the enjoyment of beer & food and the sense of community in everything we do. Brewery Vivant prides itself on being a destination brewery in the “Beer City” of Grand Rapids. Vivant brands are distributed throughout the State of Michigan.

About the Thrive Outside Gear Library

The Thrive Outside Gear Library stands on the idea that nature is good for all of us; yet not all of us have equitable access to natural spaces or to high quality outdoor equipment.  To address this, the Gear Library provides free or low cost equipment to families and to programs that work with youth.

Mother Earth Brewing Company Announces Releases Winter Seasonal S’mores Stout

December 27, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Mother Earth BrewingVista, CA & Nampa, ID –  Since the 4Seasons program’s inception in 2014, Mother Earth has been pushing the boundaries of the big-beer category, with new and exciting combinations coming out almost every quarter for the last 8 consecutive years. At the risk of outdoing themselves once again, the brewery is closing out ‘22 with their most ambitious version yet – A Bourbon Barrel-aged S’mores Imperial Stout brewed to mimic the iconic fireside dessert.

“Normally we’re a brewery that hangs our hat on classic styles done-well, with a primary focus on the base style, sometimes augmented by adjuncts. With Winter ’22 we took the opposite approach and really set out to capture the essence of S’more flavors to serve as the cornerstone of the recipe.”

-Chris Baker – Director of Brewing Ops, Mother Earth Brew Co.

Mother Earth describes the beer as viscous and chocolate-dominant, thanks to heavy-handed additions of Dutch process and dark chocolate. Barrel-imparted notes of vanilla and brûléed sugar lend complexity that is enhanced by a light addition of cinnamon. This trifecta is responsible for a truly authentic marshmallow flavor that completes the overall S’more impression.

4Seasons Winter ‘22 will be available beginning this Friday at Mother Earth’s Idaho tasting rooms in Boise and Nampa, and will roll out to distribution throughout the remainder of December and into January in 16oz cans and limited draft.

About Mother Earth

Mother Earth Brew Co. develops hand crafted artisanal ales in year-round, as well as seasonal and specialty offerings. With multi-state as well as international distribution serviced by breweries in Vista, CA and Nampa, ID; Mother Earth’s award-winning beers help define and maintain the standard of excellence expected of independent craft brewers.

Brew for One Initiative Brings Two Breweries Together

December 27, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Brew for OneATHENS, Georgia – Athens, GA-based Creature Comforts Brewing Co. and Greeley, CO-based WeldWerks Brewing Co. are pleased to announce their Brew For One limited release Barrel-Aged Stouts, benefiting their respective local communities with this year’s Brew For One initiative. Implementing the initiative’s goal of making a meaningful impact by addressing a single need at a time, WeldWerks released “Manny” on Saturday, December 10, and Creature Comforts will release their Brew for One bottle this Friday, December 16. The proceeds from WeldWerks’ bottle sales will benefit the family of the beer’s namesake, while Creature Comforts’ proceeds will fund the Joy Village School in Athens.

Brew For One was started by Creature Comforts in 2017 following the tragic loss of brewery team member, which inspired them to donate profits from the 2018 release to seed a college fund for his son. Since then, Brew For One has worked to identify a new beneficiary every year and meet some of their most pressing needs—all funded through an annual beer release as well as customer donations. This year, for the first time ever, Creature Comforts guided another brewery, WeldWerks, to implement the same initiative in its own community.

“Every day our hearts break for a broken world. It can be difficult to know what difference we can make, or where even to begin. However, the fact that we cannot address every need doesn’t mean we haven’t anything to offer—everybody can do for one person what they wish they could do for everyone,” says Matt Stevens, Senior Director of Community Impact at Creature Comforts. He continues, “That’s a transformative idea and the heartbeat of this program. With that in mind, we are thrilled to partner with the Joy Village School, a private school with a mission to create joyful learning experiences for Black youth, to help them go further faster, especially as they are getting off the ground in their first year.”

“From the very beginnings of WeldWerks, we have valued the well-being of our community. We share many of these values with Creature Comforts, who have been amazing leaders in exemplifying what is possible when a brewery is committed to the health and development of their community,” says Roy Van Anda, WeldWerks Community Engagement Manager. “The scale and complexity of the world’s challenges can be overwhelming, but we saw Brew For One as a tool to scale this down and start with just one individual in our community. Jobs Of Hope, our nonprofit partner that works with the recently incarcerated and gang-affiliated men of Weld County, helped us select Manny as our Brew For One benefactor. Unfortunately, Manny passed away during the final stages of this collaboration. Brew For One: Manny is now dedicated to Manny’s memory and the relationship we built. Proceeds from this bottle will be donated to his family to cover the cost of funeral expenses.”

This past fall, the two breweries joined together in Athens for a service project and community event to share ideas and kick off the partnership. Additionally, each brewery selected a barrel from the other’s cellar for a nod to one another in their respective Barrel-Aged Stouts.

“We wanted the opportunity to collaborate, yet also be very intentional about our focus on “the one” beneficiary. With this in mind, we asked WeldWerks to select their favorite barrel from our cellar, and then we picked a complementary barrel as ours to blend with it,” says Blake Tyers, Senior Director of the Catalyst Division at Creature Comforts. “This singular focus allowed for a blend of some of our favorite barrels in-house, as well as a pure and beautiful Barrel-Aged Stout that came together as one for our community. WeldWerks selected a Willett Distillery bourbon barrel aged for 34 months, which was blended with our selection, a Jimmy Red Corn bourbon barrel from Highwire Distilling that aged for 28 months.”

Creature Comforts’ Brew for One release is a 500ml bottle with 13.7% ABV. The focused and complex stout’s aroma is a mix of nutty and roasted qualities paired with sherry-like expressions from the extended aging with notes of roasted almonds, pecan, oak, and dark fruit.

Both Brew For One beers will be available for purchase at each of the breweries for a limited time.

About Creature Comforts Brewing Company

Founded in 2014, Creature Comforts is a purpose-driven, B-Corp certified craft brewery based in Athens, Georgia. The award-winning brewery has experienced incredible growth since its inception, expanding into a second Athens production facility, beginning construction on a new brewery and taproom in Los Angeles, CA and carefully increasing its distribution footprint into strategic markets. The core lineup of year-round beers produced includes: Tropicália, a balanced and juicy IPA; Classic City Lager, a clean and crisp Lager; Automatic, a bright and refreshing Pale Ale; Athena, a tart German-style wheat beer; Bibo®, a crisp and dry Pilsner; Tritonia, a gently tart fruited Gose; and Cosmik Debris®, an intensely hopped Double IPA, in addition to a variety of seasonal and limited releases available throughout the year. Situated within a former tire shop-turned brewery and taproom in downtown Athens, Creature Comforts’® Snow Tire Taproom showcases old school memorabilia and signage from the building’s early days and features signature, finely balanced brews on tap. With a purpose rooted in fostering human connection and a mission to be a force for good in the world through the development of industry leading beverages and experiences, the brewery has made a commitment to giving back to both the local and craft beer communities. Creature Comforts’ impact initiatives range from its sustainability efforts, which recently led to TRUE Zero Waste certification, to its list of community impact programs including Get Comfortable, Get Artistic, and Brew for One, and its industry support through partnerships with the Giving Kitchen an involvement in the Brewers Association.

Stone Brewing Releases a New Trio of Stone Delicious IPAs in One Variety Six-Pack

December 18, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Stone BrewingESCONDIDO, California – Stone Brewing, among the world’s most renowned IPA breweries, introduces a family of year-round beers to accompany its hugely popular Stone Delicious IPA. The gluten-reduced West Coast Style IPA is now joined byStone Delicious Double IPA and Stone Delicious Citrus IPA in a format hardly seen on shelves – a variety can six-pack.

The three beers of the Stone Delicious Six-Pack are individually unique recipes: The original, the sequel and the remix:

Stone Delicious IPA (7.7% ABV) packs a refreshing and hoppy lemon candy flavor that make it especially complementary to an array of foods and a superior standalone IPA.

Stone Delicious Double IPA (9.4% ABV!) stands out with a serious depth of flavor and explosive aroma of lemon and ripe fruit from Centennial and Amarillo hops. With less bitterness than a typical double IPA, this one is extra fruity, extra gratifying and extra Delicious.

Stone Delicious Citrus IPA (7.7% ABV) is brewed with Talus hops that impart vibrant citrus notes complemented by the addition of sweet orange peel. The result is especially bright and satisfyingly juicy.

Stone Delicious IPA is one of the fastest growing IPAs in the country.* Its bright, lemony-herbal intensity has made it a favorite among the most discerning craft IPA drinkers for years. It also happens to be gluten reduced, as are its two new companions. In fact, The Delicious family of beers clocks in below the FDA requirement for “gluten free” labeling (less than 20 parts per million). Since the beer is brewed with barley and the gluten is removed, Stone only gets to claim, “gluten reduced,” and that’s fine. IYKYK.

“Expanding our Stone Delicious family was a big ask for us brewers because not just any IPA can live up to this name,” explained Jeremy Moynier, Senior Manager of Brewing & Innovation. “Each of these beers share a bright, vibrant citrus-forward quality that plays out in three distinctly different ways. And that kind of variety is hard to find in a six-pack!”

Stony Creek Brewery Announces Collaboration with Bigelow Tea Company

December 18, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Stony Creek BreweryBRANFORD, Connecticut – Stony Creek Brewery, a leading regional craft brewery located in Branford, Connecticut, announced that they have partnered with Bigelow Tea for the release of two new tea-infused beers. These new beer creations, named No Comment and Carpe Tea-em, mark the first-ever beer collaboration between the two Connecticut businesses.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Bigelow Tea, a local, family-owned business with a commitment and passion for both their tea and their community,” said Ed Crowley Jr., President of Stony Creek Brewery. “As a family-owned business, we share the same passion for our beer, and our values align with our strong commitment to our community.”

Each company and its respective family, the Crowleys and the Bigelows, play an important role in their local communities through commitments to quality products, workforce focus, and charitable ties.

“Partnering with Stony Creek Brewery provides an opportunity to think beyond our core business while supporting a like-minded and local Connecticut business.  It is exciting to see the innovative flavors Stony Creek Brewery has created and how our tea ingredients have been infused to create these new beers.  We look forward to where this partnership takes us in the years to come,” said Cindi Bigelow, third-generation President, and CEO of Bigelow Tea.

A rich, drinkable German-style lager, No Comment features the perfect infusion of Bigelow’s “Constant Comment” — a blend of black tea, orange peel, and sweet spices.

Carpe Tea-em is a complex Hefeweizen bursting with the aroma and flavor of bright citrus bergamot fruit delivered by Bigelow’s Earl Grey Tea.

To infuse the tea, the unfermented beer is brought to a boil before the hops are added, creating the ideal time to steep the tea. The tea is then brewed directly into the beer.

These new beers are infusions of two families’ passion for what they do, handcrafted together and ready to exceed all expectations.

Discover No Comment and Carpe Tea-em where you find other Stony Creek brews in grocery stores, package stores, as well as fine restaurants and bars throughout New England.

Public Coast Brewing Co. Introduces Seasonal Releases

December 17, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Public Coast Brewing CompanyCANNON BEACH, Oregon – Public Coast Brewing Co. has released three more of its “special release” beers, which are only available for a limited time: the Kölsch Scrump-tious Spruce Tip Ale, Salted Caramel Stout and Farm Honey Lager. The three beers are perfect for celebrating the holidays, storm watching at the Oregon Coast or settling in for cozy nights by the fire.

“We’re excited to release these three very different but complementary beers for the winter,” said Will Leroux, Public Coast’s head brewmaster. “The Kölsch is flavored with spruce tips that our Brewery Crew picked last spring from the forest overlooking Cannon Beach – a special and hyper-locally sourced ingredient. The Salted Caramel Stout Milk Stout is decadent in all the best ways, tying in the Oregon Coast with a hint of Oregon’s own Jacobsen’s Sea Salt. And the Farm Honey Lager is a Mexican style lager that features German noble hops for a spiced, balancing bitterness.”

The Kölsch Scrump-tious Spruce Tip Ale, a 4.3% ABV, is made with locally forested spruce tips and Willamette hops, and is cold conditioned like a German style lager. It has hints of sweetness and yet is resinous and woodsy — definitely a cheerful and festive combination.

The Salted Caramel Stout is as luscious as it sounds — it’s a 5.7% ABV Milk Stout with Caramel and Sea Salt. Darker, thicker and on the sweeter side for a beer, this milk stout is lightly frothy in texture and the sweetness is matched with earthy notes of a stout’s usual essence.

The Farm Honey Lager, a 5% ABV, highlights the sweet, earthy notes of Public Coast Farm’s honey to offer a crushable crisp lager with aromas and flavors that unfold sip after sip. Straw colored and slightly opaque, the Farm Honey Lager offers a dry finish and high carbonation, making it an easy drinker.

All three releases are for sale on-tap and in cans at Public Coast’s brewpub in Cannon Beach.

About Public Coast Brewing

Located just 70 miles west of Portland in Cannon Beach, Ore., Public Coast Brewing is named after the only true public coastlines in America: the Oregon Coast. The brewery features a 10 bbl Brewhouse with one 20-barrel fermenter and two 10-barrel fermenters. Public Coast Brewing also offers fresh and delicious fare from local farms and ranches for adults and children alike. Boasting a large pet-friendly patio, wrap-around bar, shuffleboard and tall windows for peering into the brewery, Public Coast Brewing offers a relaxed and welcoming spot for the whole family.

About Public Coast Farm

Oregon’s historic Route 26, known to Portlanders as the Sunset Highway, has welcomed generations of families traveling to and from the coast on its forested byway. Now Public Coast Farm sits on that very route, straddling West Dairy Creek at the base of the Coastal Range, on a 40-acre site lush with blueberry bushes, beehives, fruit orchards and soon-to-be-planted hops. The farm is fertile ground for the farm’s sister properties – the Stephanie Inn and Public Coast Brewing Co. – each of which incorporate Public Coast Farm’s fresh ingredients into delicious dishes and seasonal beers.
