42 North’s Unparalleled Universe Lands on Earth Saturday, October 29th

October 31, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

42 North EAST AURORA, New York – 42 North Brewing is releasing Unparalleled Universe, the latest beer in their “The Brewery at the End of the Universe” line. This sub-brand pushes the boundaries of recipe development and focuses on ingredient quality and combination exploration.

The quality and freshness of the ingredients in this apple cider donut pastry Gose is unparalleled. Blackbird Cider Works provided juice made from 100 percent Blackbird Cider Works estate grown apples to help 42 North create a beer that’s out of this world.

The 42 North brew team visited the orchards of Blackbird Cider Works in Barker, NY to help press the apples and then brought the juice back to the brewery the same day. “It doesn’t get any fresher than that!” said 42 North’s Head Brewer, Matt Matuszewski.

“We wanted to brew something exciting for Fall to incorporate the cider,” said Matuszewski. “It’s not Fall in Western New York without cider and donuts,” he added.

In addition to apple cider, this beer, at 6% ABV, includes barley, oat and wheat malts for body and notes of fresh-baked donut from milk sugar and a touch of cinnamon.

According to Blackbird Cider Works Founder and President Scott Donovan, “This is an exciting collaboration and as an orchard-based cider producer, we were honored to supply the fresh-pressed apple juice to 42 North for this beer.”

Unparalleled Universe will make landfall at the 42 North taproom on Saturday, Oct. 29 and will be available at fine craft beer retailers in Buffalo and Rochester beginning the first week of November.

A Spellbinding Barrel Aged Porter From River North Brewery

October 30, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

River North BreweryDENVER, CO – Now that it’s dark beer season, the newest addition to River North Brewery’s Vicennial Series, Dark Sorceress, is set to release for the first time ever in a barrel aged version on Saturday, October 29th. Brewed with these darker, colder nights in mind, Barrel Aged Dark Sorceress will be available on draft and in bottles to-go at both River North Brewery taprooms on Saturday, October 29th.

Dark Sorceress was released for the first time late last year as a way to end the year in a big way…the true River North way. This year, the beer has been aging for ten months in local charred-oak whiskey barrels. The first-ever barrel-aged batch was brewed with over 1500 pounds of malt and grain to produce only eight barrels of finished beer. After a five hour boil, the porter took on huge chocolate, dark and roasty flavors while the Colorado Single Malt barrel added rich, smooth, vanilla notes making it a well-rounded strong porter. This is meant to be a sipping beer at 15.9% ABV and will  be available in on draft as well as in 375ml bottles for $18 at the taprooms while the limited small batch lasts.

This release is the fifth installment in the River North Vicennial Series, rounding out a massive seasonal set of barrel aged big beers. The Vicennial Series includes God Complex, Shadowman, Father Time and Last Guardian, all of which will be released at both Denver taprooms on Saturday, November 12th.

Since being founded in 2012, River North Brewery has been front and center watching its namesake neighborhood, The River North Arts District (RiNo), unfold into one of premier brewery destinations in the country and one of the most popular areas in Denver for exceptional food, drinks, and entertainment. River North Brewery has crafted a reputation for brewing barrel-aged and cellar-worthy beers since its inception.

21st Amendment Brewery Unveils A Fresh New Holiday Look For Fireside Chat Winter Ale

October 30, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

21st Amendment SAN FRANCISCO, California – 21st Amendment Brewery is ringing in the holiday season with a fresh new look of an old favorite: Fireside Chat Winter Ale (7.9 % ABV). The newer, more elegant packaging depicts two reindeer enjoying a Fireside Chat next to a crackling fireplace, with elves peaking through the windows. 21st Amendment encourages beer lovers to curl up with family and friends beside a warm fireplace, share some holiday cheer, and enjoy this spiced winter ale with rich cocoa nibs.

“Fireside Chat is a beer we’ve been making every holiday season since we opened our pub in 2000,” says Nico Freccia, 21st Amendment COO and Co-Founder. “It’s the very first Great American Beer Festival medal we won back in 2001. So it was really fun to re-think the design and branding for this beer, really leaning into the holiday season and a sense of fun. While we play with the spices each year for just the right holiday flair, the beer hasn’t changed and it’s still the best beer out there for your holiday table, as a gift for a friend, or just to enjoy by a warm fire.”

Shaun O’Sullivan, Co-Founder and Brewmaster at 21st Amendment Brewery describes Fireside Chat as having “a deep amber color, bright toffee foam-laced head, soft spice profile, and a rich subtle chocolate layer on the finish that’s wonderfully elegant.” According to Shaun, Fireside Chat “really comes together with the new package design depicting two reindeer in comfortable chairs, enjoying glasses of Fireside Chat in front of a roaring fireplace while two despondent elves look on from the snowy outside wishing they were inside. Be like a reindeer and enjoy this beer with your reindeer friends.”

Fireside Chat is available from November through December in 6 packs and draft in all 34 states where 21st Amendment distributes. Get it while supplies last, these reindeer only come around once a year!

About 21st Amendment Brewery

22 years ago (established in 2000), Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan opened the doors to the 21st Amendment brewpub in San Francisco’s historic South Park neighborhood. In addition to quickly becoming one of the city’s favorite pubs, 21st Amendment began expanding beyond the Bay Area by helping to pioneer the movement to canned craft beer. Known for their witty names and delicious brews, 21st Amendment offers year-round selections, as well as seasonal offerings and their infamous once-in-a-while limited-edition releases. Sold in 34 states plus Washington D.C., 21st Amendment produces beer in its state-of-the-art brewery headquarters in San Leandro, California, and is among the top 50 craft beer brewers in America.

Two Roads Releases Two New Innovations

October 30, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Two Roads Brewing Co.STRATFORD, Connecticut – Two Roads Brewing Co. announced today that the Company will be introducing two new innovations to their portfolio as they head into the last quarter of 2022.

A New Groundbreaking “Juicy” Variety Package

The brand announced a first-of-its-kind, 16oz Hazy IPA variety 6–pack. The Juicy Box will contain two 16oz cans of each of their “Juicy Family” offerings, including Lil’ Juicy Hazy IPA, Mega Juicy Hazy Imperial IPA and the extremely popular and highly acclaimed Two Juicy Hazy Double IPA.

“We wanted to give customers a whole new way to ‘Keep it Juicy’,” says Director of Marketing, Collin Kennedy. “When looking at the craft landscape, this a truly innovative package. In our research, we saw very few brands have released a 16oz 6-pack, and we’re excited to be one of the first to do so with a hazy IPA variety lineup. We know the IPA drinker tends to hop around between ABVs based on occasion and we continue to see a demand for higher ABV products. The Juicy Box innovation delivers three high-quality, on-trend hazy IPAs with three tiers of ABV – 6.2%, 8.2% and 10.2%, all in a convenient pack. It’s a true ‘Road Less Traveled’ package using existing brand equity we’ve built in the Juicy Family these last couple of years.”

The Juicy Family remains a focus for the company as a whole. According to recent IRI data, Two Juicy is the 7th best-selling imperial IPA 4-pack in the Northeast region over the last 52-weeks. “It’s a product line we really believe in,” says VP of Sales, Brian Corrie. “This new format and package stands out on shelf amongst a sea of 16oz cans. It’s easy to identify on shelf and gives our customers the chance to try all of our incredible Juicy brands.”

The Juicy Box Hazy Variety 6-Pack is beginning to roll out now and throughout the month of November to all states Two Roads is distributed.

Non-Alcoholic American IPA Joins Growing Non-Alc Portfolio

Building off the success and momentum of their initial ‘Juicy IPA’ non-alcoholic offering, Two Roads will be releasing a second beer in their new NA portfolio – a Non-Alc American IPA. According to the brand, this version is meant to appeal to the more “traditional” IPA drinker.

Master Brewer, Phil Markowski added, “many breweries make both a Juicy and West Coast style IPA, so we wanted to take a similar approach with our Non-Alcoholic line”. He went on to say, “Our two NA’s deliver flavor and quality, with large hop additions to achieve the desired result in terms of real beer flavor. While our Non-Alc Juicy IPA features fruity, newer hop varieties, our Non-Alc American IPA uses classic C-hop varieties for a more piney, resinous character. The drinking experience for both is decidedly different, but both versions are true to style and most importantly – actually taste like beer!”

CEO, Brad Hittle, went on to say, “Phil worked on perfecting these Non-Alc beers over a long stretch of time, making and rejecting several variations until we were happy.  He really nailed the taste and aroma to deliver a real beer experience without the alcohol. The only thing missing with these beers compared to real beer is the buzz!”

Two Roads will be releasing their Non-Alc American IPA in 6-packs, 12oz cans starting this week.

Temperance Beer Co. Reveals Extremely Limited Barrel-Aged Beers

October 29, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Temperance BeerEVANSTON, Illinois – Temperance Beer Co. is happy to announce the release of two limited barrel-aged releases. The first is Barrel Aged Quotidienne (9.6% ABV), a Belgian-style dubbel ale aged in cherry brandy barrels. This dubbel has been dosed with dark Belgian candi sugar before resting in cherry brandy barrels (ex-bourbon) for over 6 months. The result: a full-bodied mouthfeel with prominent cherry on the nose and a sweet oaky undertone complimenting the spiciness of Belgian yeast. “When we tasted this beer right out of the barrel, we were pleasantly surprised how pronounced the cherry notes came through and played so beautifully with the caramel-forward base beer,” said Josh Gilbert, founder of Temperance.

The second is Barrel Aged Birdsong (9% ABV), a farmhouse saison aged in a mix of oak barrels that held gin in virgin oak as well as oak barrels that first held whiskey and then gin. After the beer’s months-long slumber, fresh cucumbers were added just before packaging. “The late addition of freshly peeled cucumber balances the oak heft with a brightness that really brings out the gin botanicals,” Gilbert said, continuing “this is a truly unique and special beer.”

The  funky new 16 oz Barrel Aged Birdsong cans were designed by none other than the inimitable Chicago artist, Jay Ryan. “Jay’s wonderful design for these cans complements the playful yet complex beer inside,” says Gilbert. “And it’s always fun working together with Jay.”

Both beers are available on Friday, November 4 on tap and in 2 pack 16 oz cans at the brewery. Extremely limited distribution for BA Birdsong kegs/cases and BA Quotdienne kegs. BA Quotidienne cases will only be available at the brewery.

From Seattle to Maui to Alaska: Maui Brewing Develops Fresh Hops Brew

October 29, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Maui BrewingKIHEI, Hawaii – Now available in Maui Brewing Company’s Kihei restaurant location, Hop Cargo Fresh Hop IPA. This fresh-hopped beer was made through an epic collaboration with Bale Breaker Brewing Company, Yakima Chief Hops, and Alaska Air, providing the opportunity to brew with wet hops for the first time in MBC history.

The window to start brewing with fresh hops, as opposed to dried hops, is incredibly short. So short in fact that fresh-hopped beers are typically only made by breweries in close proximity to a hop farm. For this project and with the help of Alaska Airlines Air Cargo, both Maui Brewing Company and Alaska’s 49th State Brewing were able to receive a bulk shipment of fresh hops in under 24 hours from when they were picked at Loftus Ranches in Yakima, Washington.

Upon landing at Maui’s Kahului Airport and going through Hawaii’s Department of Agricultural inspection, this shipment of hops went straight to the Kihei brewery where the MBC brew team was ready and waiting to start brewing. (Photo source: Ingrid Barrentine / Alaska Airlines) The India Pale Ale boasts juicy, pine, and stone fruit aromas with sweet malt and subtle, pleasant bitterness to bring balance to the gutsiest hops.

The beer has an ABV of 7.2% with 30 IBUs.Hop Cargo Fresh Hops IPA is currently available on draft at MBC Kihei and will be arriving soon to MBC restaurant locations in Lahaina, Kailua, and Waikiki.

The MBC team are stewards of their communities and the ‘aina, and curators of the craft beer way of life. Their beers have been recognized worldwide for quality and innovation.
