Baxter Brewing Releases Colonial Pemaquid Honey Blonde Ale

May 27, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Baxter BrewingLewiston, ME – Baxter Brewing is releasing the latest addition in their Maine State Parks beer series. Named after the Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site in New Harbor, the beer is slated to hit retail shelves in Maine just before Memorial Day weekend.

Coinciding with the release, Colonial Pemaquid Honey Blonde ale will be featured – along with the brewery – on Good Morning America’s “Rise and Shine” morning segment. As pandemic restrictions ease, Good Morning America’s anchors are traveling across the country to meet local businesses and broadcast from renowned parks and institutions. On Thursday, May 27, Good Morning America will air their conversation with Baxter President Jenn Lever about the release of Colonial Pemaquid.

“The GMA team was great to work with,” said Merritt Waldron, Baxter Brewing’s Quality Director. “It was impressive to see how quick and professional they were.”

The beer, which Waldron describes as “crisp and refreshing, [with] notes of honey and orange blossom,” is part of Baxter’s Passion Project portfolio which aims to direct awareness and funds to benevolent organizations based in Maine. “I think it’s a great beer for a great cause,” added Waldron. “The state parks are a wonderful resource that Maine has, and I am glad we can help out.”

The success of last year’s Maine State Parks beer inspired Lever to progress the series with additional Maine parks. “Popham Beach last summer was such a fan favorite that we figured the best way to honor the parks, and the return of tourism, was to brew more,” said Lever. “You’ll be able to find our honey blonde ale throughout the summer, and we can’t wait to see what people think!”

Colonial Pemaquid Honey Blonde ale [4.8% ABV] is available in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans at select retailers throughout Maine. A portion of the proceeds from sales will go directly to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry .

Heavy Seas & Royal Farms Announce the Re-Release Their World Famous Pilsner

May 27, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

World Famous PilsnerBALTIMORE – Heavy Seas is excited to announce the re-release of, World Famous  Pilsner brewed in collaboration with Royal Farms. World Famous was created to celebrate Royal Farms’ wildly popular Chicken Palooza event as it enters its fourth year. World Famous will be available for a limited time in the 41 Royal Farms stores that carry beer & wine throughout MD, VA & PA this July. This beer will also be available during a can release at the Heavy Seas Brewery on June 25th.

World Famous PilsnerTwo Baltimore neighbors blast off to make history. Heavy Seas and Royal Farms have teamed up to create World Famous Pilsner- a beer brewed to pair perfectly with Royal Farm’s World Famous fried chicken. This crisp, clean pilsner tastes even better with RoFo fried chicken and Western fries. Get ready for a pairing that’s out of this world good.

“We’re incredibly excited to partner again with Royal Farms this year on World Famous. I am a huge fan of RoFo chicken and have found a crisp, clean lager to be the perfect style of beer to compliment the subtle spice and yes, unctuous deliciousness, of a RoFo breast or wing,” says Heavy Seas Brewmaster, Christopher Leonard. “We’ve added a touch of citrus flair to the aroma and flavor of this pilsner-style lager with the deft addition of Citra hops late in the boil and in the fermenter. At 5.0% ABV, it pairs beautifully with Royal Farms chicken, yet has just enough complexity of flavor to be enjoyable on its own.”

“The World Famous Pilsner was a hit in 2020, and we are so excited to be bringing it back in 2021 with Heavy Seas. We completely sold out of it during our ChickenPalooza event last year. The Pilsner really is fantastic, perfectly paired on a warm Summers day with our World Famous chicken.” says Shelby Kemp, Marketing for Royal Farms.

World Famous will release in 6 packs of 16 oz cans at the Heavy Seas brewery Friday, June 25th. Chicken Palooza begins at Royal Farms July 1st.

Other Half launches Oh2 hard seltzer line

May 26, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Other Half BrewingBrooklyn, NY – Other Half Brewing welcomes the start of summer with Oh2 (5% ABV), a new line of gluten-free hard seltzers. Created at the new Domino Park location but available at all Other Half Brewery sites, Oh2 seltzers max out at 120 calories and 2 carbohydrates per 12 oz can.

To start, the Oh2 lineup includes Ginger Lime Mule, a rendition of the classic Moscow Mule with a ginger beer kick, and All Citrus Everything, a refreshing and tart seltzer finished with pink grapefruit juice. Additional flavors made with all-natural ingredients are scheduled to drop later this summer. Photos can be foundhere.

Domino Park’s 5bbl system allows the brewery team to brew smaller batch, more experimental beers. With Oh2, the brewers at Other Half have a new foundation to explore fresh fruit juices, sessionable riffs on classic cocktails, and the constant, limited-edition innovation for which they are known.

“Oh2 is so versatile that we can use it to bring a lot of ideas to life,” says Andrew Burman, Co-Founder of Other Half Brewing. “We can keep things light and clean for hot weather sessions or load it up with fresh fruit and botanicals for more intense seltzers.”

Oh2 rolls out in May 2021 across all Other Half Taprooms and limited shipping and delivery.

About Other Half Brewing

In 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan and Andrew Burman founded Other Half Brewing Company, a local brewery in New York City with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. Their vision was to build a passionate team that brewed great beers in the state of New York—done so with effort and thoughtfulness—to represent the “Other Half” of the industry. Today, the Other Half team crafts beers in Brooklyn (Carroll Gardens and Domino Park), Washington, D.C., and Finger Lakes breweries. They’re dedicated to collaborating with breweries both in New York as well as across the world in an effort to constantly move the industry forward while elevating the craft.

The Other Half team believes that local breweries play an important role in their communities, which is why they partner with other like-minded brewers and brands in local communities across the country and the world—but always return to their home state of New York and the original Brooklyn taproom.

Lamplighter Unveils Official Plans for Brewery at Cambridge Crossing

May 23, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Lamplighter BrewingCambridge, MA – Lamplighter Brewing Co. and DivcoWest today announced final plans to open a new taproom and production space in the coming months, Lamplighter CX, at Cambridge Crossing (CX), the new 43-acre neighborhood at the intersection of Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston, and directly adjacent to the new Lechmere Station.

Lamplighter CX will be a 7,000 square-foot taproom and production space in The Shed, a two-story standalone retail building located in the center of Cambridge Crossing, which currently also houses the restaurant trio of The Lexington, Geppetto, and Café Beatrice from local restaurateur Will Gilson. Designed by local architect Prellwitz Chilinski Associates (PCA), The Shed is surrounded by public open spaces including an adjacent waterway with granite blocks for seating (repurposed from the 150-year old seawall excavated at the site), a 5-acre common right outside The Shed’s doors, a picnic grove with grills, and outdoor games like bocce ball, and Baldwin Park, a hardscape park filled with greenery and plenty of places to sit back and relax.

“We’re thrilled to resume construction and pursue this opportunity after a year that has been filled with uncertainty. Wild, funky, and sour beer has always been a focus for us and utilizing our site at Cambridge Crossing as a dual barrel production facility and taproom is incredibly exciting,” said Lamplighter Co-Founder, Cayla Marvil. “Our emphasis is, and always has been, on producing incredible beer while simultaneously creating fun and welcoming spaces for all to enjoy.”

Lamplighter CX, Lamplighter’s second location, will focus on increased taproom space and a production facility to age, blend, and bottle their barrel-aged beers. The expansion project was previously proposed as a joint micro-distillery and brewing space, however following the pandemic, the Lamplighter team made the strategic decision to focus solely on brewing and serving their locally renowned craft beer at Lamplighter CX.

“It’s no secret that COVID-19 has been extremely difficult for small businesses, and especially those in the hospitality industry. We feel fortunate to have received such wonderful support from our customers and community over the past year, and, in many ways, the pandemic has given us an opportunity to revisit and reassess our goals for the company,” said Marvil. “While we may pursue a distillery in the future, our current resources are dedicated to making the best beer we can and [re]opening neighborhood-focused taproom spaces.”

“We are excited for the opening of Lamplighter CX later this year, which will complete The Shed and introduce more authentic, locally-based retail options to this new and transformative neighborhood,” said Mark Roopenian, Managing Director at DivcoWest.

Since opening in 2016, Lamplighter has stayed true to its goal of fostering community through craft beverages and creating an accessible place to both work and play. Lamplighter’s new taproom and production space will follow that mission, bringing the values of community, quality, and creativity to East Cambridge, and expanding the way that consumers can share and experience beer at the source.

Lamplighter CX will resume construction in June, with more details to be shared in the coming months.

The Lexington and Café Beatrice are now currently open at CX with a roof top cocktail bar and restaurant overlooking the Common, and Café Beatrice, Gilson’s all day café. His team will also revive their highly successful pop-up, The Lexington at the Picnic Grove, offering even more outdoor dining options for guests to enjoy. This summer, CX is also excited to welcome back the community for on-site outdoor neighborhood events including CX Fit, CX Summer Nights, and CX Movie Nights to get started.

When complete, CX will consist of 2 million square feet of life science and technology space with 100,000 square feet of local, authentic retail that sits at the heart of the project creating a true destination.CX currently has 1,735,000 square feet under construction and will break ground on 441 Morgan Avenue, a 375,000 square-foot life science building next month. DivcoWest recently celebrated the fourth fully-leased science and technology building in the neighborhood with Bristol Myers Squibb signed on to join Philips, Cerevel Therapeutics, and Sanofi at CX.

With close proximity to Kendall Square, MIT and Harvard, CX is a thoughtfully-designed, vibrant neighborhood and is shaping up to be a dynamic life-science hub that inspires collaboration, innovation and connection. Once complete, the community will provide a one-of-a-kind place for employees, residents and neighbors connected to two MBTA stops, 11 acres of open space, an eclectic food scene, neighborhood retail, and more than 2,400 new residences.

For more information and updates on CX, visitwww.cambridgecrossing.com, or follow along on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Harpoon Big League IPA Coming to Sweden

May 23, 2021 by Dustin Scoggins

Harpoon Big League BrewingBoston, MA. – Harpoon Brewery is thrilled to announce that its Big League New England IPA will now be widely available in Sweden. The Boston- and Vermont-based brewery won the coveted tender for system-wide availability with Systembolaget for the recently launched and highly anticipated IPA— the latest introduction to their League Family of beers that started in 2019 with a Hazy Pale Ale, Rec. League. Like a “double” version of Rec. League, Big League features the same tropical blend of hops and activity-minded ingredients like buckwheat kasha, chia seed, and sea salt, giving the IPA a tremendous amount of juicy hop character and a surprisingly refreshing finish.

Jon Schwartz, VP Business Development at Mass. Bay Brewing Company: “We are honored to have Harpoon Big League selected to be carried by all Systembolaget stores throughout Sweden. As the brewers of New England’s Original IPA almost 30 years ago, we are thrilled to introduce our new big and juicy New England IPA with distinct notes of citrus, papaya, and ripe mango to Craft beer lovers across Sweden.”

Qurban Walia, Co-President of Crafted Exports, comments: “We can’t wait to be able to drink Big League in Sweden! Harpoon has been one of our most passionate breweries, so it is great to able to see them growing and succeeding in one of our favorite countries. I am just jealous we won’t be able to be there this year, but we will be visiting as soon as we can. Skål!”

Commenting on the release, Andrew Reed, Brand Manager at Galatea and Craftbeer.se, said: “We are so proud to announce the launch of Harpoon Big League in June at all Systembolaget stores. Galatea and Craftbeer.se have been working with Harpoon through Crafted Exports for many years, bringing in special offerings for the On Trade, but this is our first win in the fixed assortment at the Swedish monopoly. Following last Fall’s successful run of Flannel Friday, we know the Swedish craft beer drinkers are ready for Harpoon to become a big part of our thriving American Craft Beer market.”

Systembolaget is the Swedish government-owned chain whose retail stores are the only ones in the country allowed to sell alcoholic beverages containing more than 3.5% alcohol, for take-home consumption. Within the Systembolaget there are several levels of availability. Some products are in the ‘ordering range’ or beställningssortimentet – orderable to stores, but not stocked. Then there are seven levels of availability in the chain of over 450 stores nationwide – T9, T7, T5, T3, T2, T1 and BASE. The lower the number, the greater the availability, with a “BASE” availability meaning that the product is available in all or virtually all Systembolaget stores.

Crafted Exports

Crafted Exports is a premier international distributor of craft beers and spirits that specializes in using innovative, quality-control delivery processes to deliver the freshest products to markets across the world.

Harpoon Brewery

The Harpoon Brewery was founded in 1986 by beer-loving friends who wanted to bring variety and community back to the American beer scene— particularly their home region of New England. At the time, Harpoon was issued Brewing Permit #001 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, since it was the first to brew commercially in Boston after a dormant period of 25 years. Since then, it has expanded to a second brewery in Windsor, VT, and in 2014, became employee-owned. Harpoon’s portfolio of craft beer is led by Harpoon IPA, New England’s Original IPA, and features their League Family of active lifestyle beers as well as an array of seasonal and limited releases, including countless collaborations with other local brands.
