About Taft’s Brewing Company:
Taft’s Brewing Company was founded in 2015 through the creation of Taft’s Ale House. The founders of Taft’s partnered with the Cincinnati Center City Development Corp to create the brewery and restaurant located in Cincinnati’s Over-The-Rhine. The three-story Ale House resides in a renovated historic church originally built in 1850 and offers premium steak fare in a beautifully designed space. In 2017, the Taft’s team created a production brewery and tap room, Taft’s Brewpourium Cincinnati, located in Spring Grove Village. The 50,000-square- foot facility is home to high-volume brewing and beer kegging, canning and packaging. The Brewpourium Cincy tap room offers guests 12- 15 of Taft’s house-created brews and New Haven-style coal-fired pizza. Taft’s also opened a sizeable indoor/outdoor space in the Franklinton Columbus area at the end of last year that features homemade brews and the same New Haven-style pizza in a funky 80’s/90’s themed hotspot. Taft’s beers can also be found in bars, restaurants, grocery stores and other outlets across the region. www.taftbeer.com

2023 U.S. Open Beer Championship Medal Winners and Grand National Champion

July 12, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

Oxford, Ohio (July 10, 2023) – Breweries from Maui to Miami sent more than 9,000 beers(3,107 entries) representing over 160 different styles to the 2023 U.S. Open Beer Championship. Today, the U.S. Open Beer Championship announces the medal winners and Grand National Champion.

Toppling Goliath Brewing of Decorah, Iowa was awarded the 2023 Grand National Champion by winning 4 gold medals. Their gold medal winners included Pseudo Sue Hazy Pale Ale, Seismic Sue Triple IPA, King Sue Hazy DIPA, and KBBS Reserve 2022. Toppling Goliath is known for brewing some of the best beers in the world and was the 2021 Grand National Champion at the U.S. Open.

Flix Brewhouse in Carmel, Indiana placed second overall by winning 3 gold medals for their Inside the Moone Foreign Stout, Who is this Hans? Hefeweizen and Dunkel Dimension Münchner Dunkel. Their Ursula’s Agreement Gose took Silver. This accomplishment is especially amazing since they had to completely close down during COVID.

They also took home a silver for their roggenbier and two bronzes for their Hefeweizen and Oktoberfest Märzen. Schulz Brau is also known for having one of the best beer gardens in America.

The U.S. Open Beer Championship judges more beer styles than any other competition in the world. The U.S. Open is also the only major beer competition to allow the gold medal winners of the AHA’s National Homebrew Competition to participate. This year, 3 homebrewers won medals which ties the U.S. Open record. Big congratulations go to Alex Cigan from Brooklyn for winning a bronze medal for his Contrived Spontaneity Wheat Wine, to Joseph Belevender from Warren, Michigan for winning a silver medal for his North Biere Belgian Ale, and to Caleb Meinke from Cambridge, Wisconsin for winning silver for his Len’s Light Lager.

The U.S. Open judging was held at the new U.S. Open Event Center in Oxford, Ohio. The U.S. Open became the first beer competition to be held in its own venue, a 6,000 square-foot Amish pole barn on a small farm. The barn consists of a judging area, a serving area, two 450-square-foot coolers, an office, and a nano brewery. Rupee Beer Launches Mango Wheat Ale on World Mango Day

July 11, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

BOSTON, Massachusetts – It’s peak summertime and after the immense success of Rupee’s award winning lager named Best Beer For World Food nearly two years ago, brothers Van & Sumit Sharma enlisted the strategic insight of global craft brewing legend and creator of iconic Pumpkinhead, one of the most successful seasonal beers to ever hit the market to brew their next highly anticipated sku.

“The beer industry, South Asian community, and restaurant & food world have been asking us for months if we have any new beers coming out, and after much thought, research and development, we are excited to launch our signature Mango Wheat Ale ahead of World Mango Day on July 22nd”

Mangos are the national fruit of India and considered sacred symbols of proprietary and good luck. In fact, India is the largest consumer and supplier of mangos in the world. Taking the ‘King of Fruits’ the team wanted to brew an easy to drink summer ale which is smooth with hints of tropical aroma and mango flavor.

The history of the mango dates back to 4000 BC on the Indian Subcontinent where over 1000 varieties of the fruit exist. One of these varieties, the Chaunsa mango was given its name by the revolutionary leader, Sultan Sher Shah Suri, creator of the modern day Indian Rupee which was the inspiration of the brand’s first lager sku. In 1539, Sultan Sher Shah Suri defeated the second Moghal Emperor, Humayun, in the Battle of Chaunsa. In his extreme happiness, he commemorated the victory by naming his favorite variety of mango, the Chaunsa.

After relocating back to America after years living in London & Australia, the brothers having grown up in the Indian restaurant trade their entire lives wanted to shake up an industry which they truly felt lacked representation, and which also continued to make sub-par beer not designed to pair with the spicy and flavorful foods they grew up on.

Rupee Beer is available at national retailers such as Costco, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Total Wine, as well as top international restaurants within the Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern and Mexican category.

SweetWater Brewing Launches Gummies Beer A New Juicy Revolution

July 10, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

ATLANTA, Georgia — SweetWater Brewing Company (“SweetWater Brewing” or “SweetWater”), the ninth largest craft brewer in the U.S. and a subsidiary of Tilray Brands, Inc. (NASDAQ: TLRY and TSX: TLRY), today announces the release of SweetWater Gummies, a new line of easy-drinking, high-alcohol craft ales brewed for an endless summer of haze and juicy flavor. SweetWater Gummies Tropical IIPA and Fruit Punch IIPA, both 9.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), will bolster SweetWater’s year-round lineup with innovative, fruit-forward styles that cater to the fastest growing category in craft beer.

Setting a new standard for flavor, drinkability, aroma, and ABV, SweetWater Gummies redefine the traditional Double IPA. Departing from the intimidating bitterness, SweetWater has transformed this classic craft style by infusing it with sweet, irresistible juice—delivering an unparalleled sensory experience. Crafted with Citra hops and real fruit, these full-flavored, 9.5% ABV Hazy IIPAs are as refreshing and approachable as they are potent.

“We created SweetWater Gummies to expand our innovative, flavor-forward craft category and for the new generation of craft drinkers who demand drinkability and high ABV. Drawing on our expertise in satisfying hop enthusiasts and casual drinkers, these remarkable offerings embody the essence of SweetWater,” said Ty Gilmore, President, U.S. Beer, at Tilray Brands. “You’ll find it hard to believe you’re indulging in a 9.5% ABV Double IPA. The buzz from our distributors has been off the charts.”

“Fruit forward, easy drinking IPA that packs a punch,” said Patrick Guerin, President, Lee Distributors.

SweetWater Gummies Fruit Punch IIPA tantalizes the taste buds with a delightful blend of sweet berry flavors accompanied by a touch of tartness, courtesy of real raspberry, cherry, blueberry, and tangerine. Its low bitterness, silky-smooth body, and captivating pink-red hue create an easy and pleasurable drinking experience.

SweetWater Gummies Tropical IIPA combines passionfruit, pineapple, and tangerine to create a tropical medley reminiscent of a refreshing piña colada and freshly squeezed orange juice. With no trace of bitterness and a velvety body, you might mistake this for a tropical cocktail.

“Breakthru Beverage Nevada is excited to introduce the SweetWater Gummies lineup to the Nevada market,” said Michael Shetler, Craft Beer Business Development Manager for Breakthru Nevada. “SweetWater has hit the mark for the 19.2-ounce category with two unique offerings that target everything today’s single-serve beer drinker is looking for: huge flavor, juicy tropical fruit haze, and a smooth, low bitter finish.”

SweetWater Gummies are now available nationally in six-packs of 12-ounce cans and 19.2-ounce cans. Retailers include Kroger, Publix, Total Wine, Circle K, H-E-B, Lowes Foods, and many more.
