Sheetz and Evil Genius Beer Company Collaborate on Blueberry Muffin-Infused Beer
ALTOONA, Pa. — Today Sheetz, a major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, announced the release of “Project Brewberry Muffinz”, a new, limited-edition blueberry craft beer brewed in partnership with Evil Genius Beer Company. Available for a short time only, customers can purchase the beer at 99 Sheetz stores across Pennsylvania starting this Thursday, August 29 at 4p.m.
Following the success of Sheetz’s first-ever craft beer release in May, the new brew is a light-bodied blonde ale infused with Sheetz’s iconic Shweetz blueberry muffins. Sixteen ounce four-packs of Project Brewberry Muffinz beer will be available statewide including in Altoona, Erie, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, State College and York, retailing for $7.99 per four pack. A small batch craft beer, Project Brewberry Muffinz will be available while supplies last and will not be restocked once sold out.
“Listening to our customers is a core value at Sheetz, which is why, following the overwhelming demand of our first limited-edition craft beer, we are thrilled to partner with Evil Genius Beer Company to announce the release of ‘Project Brewberry Muffinz’,” said Ryan Sheetz, AVP of Brand at Sheetz. “Furthermore, the timing is fitting, as we celebrate the anniversary of Pennsylvania’s Act 39 and the significant progress made since 2016. Three years later, Sheetz is selling beer and wine at over 160 stores and more are added every month.”
“Evil Genius Beer Company is incredibly excited to partner with Sheetz on Project Brewberry Muffinz,” said Evil Genius Beer Company Partner and Co-Founder Trevor Hayward. “As is Evil Genius tradition, we’ve taken a traditional style and turned it on its head by adding Sheetz delicious Blueberry muffins while brewing the beer. The results speak for themselves with an aroma that will remind you of fresh blueberries, and a taste that you make you want to head to your local Sheetz for one of their scrumptious Blueberry Muffins.”
Hayward also said: “We are honored to work with such a notable partner on another creative collaboration brew. Collaboration beers have been an area of tremendous growth for us and we love letting our creative juices shine in the process as we continue to make very serious beers with very silly names. As a bonus for this project, the partnership was the perfect pairing of our two companies as while our Tasting Lab is in the Philadelphia region, we brew our drafts and bottles in the heart of Sheetz country in Northeast Pennsylvania.”
Sheetz is committed to responsibly complying with all current laws and regulations, including the enforcement of a 100 percent proof-of-age policy. Employees will ask for proper identification, a valid driver’s license, passport or military identification card from any customers wanting to purchase alcohol, regardless of age. Each location also abides by time-of-day sales restrictions on alcohol.

Bonfire Brewing Announces 3 Community Creator Series Releases
EAGLE, Colo. — Bonfire Brewing continues their newly introduced Community Creator Series with the planned releases of Gyptoberfest Märzen Lager, GrapepHruit Kettle Sour Grapefruit IPA, and Sugar Speed Caramel Milk Stout. The three beers follow the limited series release of Après-Berry Strawberry Blonde Ale and will be available first at the Bonfire taproom in downtown Eagle, followed by limited availability state-wide as mountain temperatures begin to drop.
Gyptoberfest is brewed annually to help support the town of Gypsum’s Oktoberfest and has become a local favorite. It’s a traditional Märzen Lager, brewed with German-style Augustiner yeast with a malt-forward profile.
GrapepHruit is an American IPA kettle-soured with lactobacillus. Generous amounts of Summit, Citra, and Simcoe hops seamlessly intertwine with the juicy Grapefruit puree added near the completion of fermentation.
Sugar Speed is a tasting room favorite originally brewed last fall in honor of the original Bonfire Brew Dog, Sugar. She had one speed, and it was the one that co-founder Andy Jessen walked her at. A little too fast for most, a bit too slow if you took her for a run, but always right there with him.
Sugar Speed is brewed with both caramel malts and roasted barley providing a smooth toffee flavor with a moderate amount of roast to balance the milk stout sweetness of the lactose (milk sugar) added to the boil. A kiss of caramel, vanilla and sea salt are added during secondary fermentation to lend a caramel sweetness on the palate with a slight salt aftertaste.
Fueled by the inspiration of their community and the power of an automated labeler, Bonfire began brewing, packaging and distributing a line of limited-release beers as part of their new Community Creator Series. The series began earlier this year with the releases of Après-Cot Apricot Blonde Ale, Pink-I Raspberry IPA, and Après-Berry Strawberry Blonde Ale.
Following Gyptoberfest, GrapepHruit, and Sugar Speed, Bonfire plans to continue the series with more interesting one-offs, local favorites and perhaps the resurrection of previously discontinued beers.
In addition to the Community Creator Series, Bonfire plans to release the very popular Rope Drop Hazy IPA for its second year with availability in cans and on draft throughout the fall and winter.
Look for Gyptoberfest, GrapepHruit, and Sugar Speed in 6 packs of 12 oz. cans at Bonfire’s tasting room and select local accounts soon, with limited statewide shipments throughout the Fall.

Wild Leap Releases Vanilla Ice Cream Stout
LAGRANGE, Ga. — Wild Leap is rounding out a full summer with the release of Vanilla Ice Cream Stout. Available the last week of August, Vanilla Ice Cream Stout is available in four-packs and in the Wild Leap taproom.
Stout-style beers have a reputation of being enjoyed in the cooler months, but like most things, Wild Leap bucks the trend combining an all-American summer classic, homemade vanilla ice cream, with a rich and creamy beer.
“This is the biggest stout we have ever released,” shares Anthony Rodriguez, CEO and Wild Leap Co-Founder. “It’s a truly sweet, rich and creamy flavor profile, and it is the heaviest bodied beer we have produced.”
Brewed with vanilla bean and caramel malt, Vanilla Ice Cream Stout is the sweetest Wild Leap beer to-date and is truly an indulgence. Just like the tongue-in-cheek quote on the can artwork divulges, Vanilla Ice Cream Stout is designed for diets “high in decadence.”
This beer is of special importance to Wild Leap Head Brewer Chris Elliott, as it represents a perfect blend of his past and present careers. Prior to brewing for Wild Leap, Elliott worked for Blue Bell Ice Cream.
“For years, I have wanted to brew a beer centered around ice cream,” explains Elliott. “I wanted a beer that was influenced by my experience in the ice cream industry.”
Like all guilty pleasures, you can only indulge so much. Vanilla Ice Cream Stout is a very limited release and will not be around for long!

Perrin Brewing Company to Release Blackberry IPA
COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. — The first sip of this season’s Perrin Blackberry IPA is just around the corner! Perrin Brewing Company’s seasonal release, Blackberry IPA, will appear at the Perrin Pub August 29 on draft and in 6-packs and 15-packs of 12 oz. cans, followed by distribution throughout the state of Michigan.

Blackberry IPA will replace Grapefruit IPA in Perrin’s seasonal rotation. While Grapefruit IPA is a 5% ABV citrus-and-tropical fruit celebration of summertime, Blackberry IPA is a balanced, berry beacon of autumn.
Perrin creates imaginative, Michigan-inspired flavors while honoring traditional craft brewing techniques, keeping liquid craftsmanship at the heart of Blackberry IPA and all Perrin beers.

“We’ve brewed one that is even a bit maltier than you might normally find, with loads of bready, biscuity Munich malt, and balanced with just the right amount of Noble European hops (Hallertau in particular). At 5.5% ABV, it provides just the right amount of flavor and drinkability. Prost!”
Stay tuned for updates about the Dat Booty Doe release event on September 20th, 2019 at the Heavy Seas Brewery.
