Ecliptic Brewing and Hawaii’s Maui Brewing Co Launch Ecliptic + Maui Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA

August 31, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

PORTLAND, Oregon — Ecliptic Brewing and Hawaii’s Maui Brewing Co have been working together this year to create a Cosmic Collaboration beer: Ecliptic + Maui Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA. The beer is slated to ship August 23rd, both in 16C-ounce cans and draft.

In view of the recent Maui wildfires, Ecliptic will be donating a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold through their pubs and release events to Legacy of Aloha, as well as donating 10% of all restaurant sales on August 30th. Legacy of Aloha supports Maui Brewing employees who have lost their homes or been temporarily displaced. Any remaining funds will be given to accredited nonprofits working on the ground in Maui.

“We were devastated to learn of the recent wildfires that have caused so much destruction and loss of life in Maui,” says John Harris, Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster. “Garret Marrero [Maui’s Co-Founder] has been a huge leader in the relief efforts there currently, and we wanted to share some organizations Maui Brewing Company suggests donating to below.”

· Makai Foundation

· Legacy of Aloha

· Maui Brewing Co Fire Fund

· Kokua Project – for other breweries

Ecliptic + Maui Brewing Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA starts with a Pale Malt base and is hopped with Sabro, El Dorado and Chinook. A good dose of pineapple puree, along with delicate coconut bring a big tropical vibe to this easy drinking IPA, clocking in at 6.5% ABV.

Ecliptic + Maui Brewing Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA will be released in 16-ounce cans and draft throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network on August 23rd. Two benefit release events are planned as follows:

· Seattle release benefit event: August 29th at Brewmaster’s Taproom. Ecliptic will donate a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold to Legacy of Aloha, matched by Brewmaster’s Taproom.

· Portland release benefit event: August 30th at Ecliptic Brewing Moon Room (5PM) and Belmont Station(6:30P). Ecliptic will donate a portion of proceeds from every pint of Bay Breeze Pineapple IPA sold to Legacy of Aloha, matched by Belmont Station. Additionally, Ecliptic will be donating 10% of their restaurant sales on August 30th.

· Lastly, both Ecliptic locations will be drop off points for a supply drive for the Maui community through Stuff The Buseco Shuttle. Please drop off supplies (clean blankets/towels, new underwear, menstrual products, diapers, formula, etc) at either location during open restaurant hours until August 20th at 3pm.

Visit Ecliptic’s website or Instagram for up-to-date details on this release and other potential release events.

Ecliptic and Boneyard Create Mashup IPA for Next Cosmic Collaboration Release

February 21, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

PORTLAND, Oregon— Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing and Boneyard Beer of Bend, Oregon are collaborating on a mashup IPA to release on February 22. The beer, named STARPM IPA, will ship in 16-ounce cans and draft and will be the second beer in Ecliptic’s 2023 Cosmic Collaboration series.

STARPM IPA is a mashup recipe of Ecliptic’s Starburst IPA and Boneyard’s RPM IPA – both companies’ flagship beers. Both of the original beers are heavily hopped, and the mashup is no exception, featuring Citra, Simcoe, Centennial, Azacca and Amarillo hops for a citrusy and tropical flavor. The beer features a classic malt profile and clocks in at a solid 7.2% ABV.

Says Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris, “I used to work with Tony Lawrence [Boneyard’s founder] back at Deschutes- in fact, I hired him! It has been fun being able to work together again to blend our recipes into a new creation and decide on a name, which is also a mashup. I am pleased with how it’s turning out.”

STARPM IPA will be released in 16-ounce cans and draft throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network on February 22nd. Visit Ecliptic’s website for up-to-date details on this release and potential release events (tentatively planned for early March).

Ecliptic + Boneyard STARPM IPA

Our John Harris and Boneyard’s Founder and Brewmaster Tony Lawrence have a friendship that goes back many years – starting when John brought Tony into the beer universe hiring him as a brewer at Deschutes Brewery. This beer honors John and Tony’s long-lasting student/teacher friendship. For this latest reunion they chose to combine the incredible hop prowess of their beloved Starburst and RPM IPAs. The result? A unified force of citrusy and tropical hop aromas from Citra, Simcoe, Centennial, Azacca and Amarillo Hops–all against a classic malt profile with a dry finish.

Ecliptic Partners with Fort George Brewery for First Cosmic Collaboration of 2023

January 18, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

PORTLAND, Oregon – Portland’s Ecliptic Brewing and Astoria’s Fort George Brewery are releasing a Cosmic Collaboration beer this January. Ecliptic + Fort George Black Cold IPA will ship January 18th in 16-ounce cans and draft and will be the first beer in the series for 2023.

Ecliptic + Fort George Black Cold IPA is brewed with a variety of malts, including Pale and Munich, but it is the Carafa malt that really helps give the beer is dark coloring and touch of roast. The beer includes Harvest Yeast – a lager yeast – and is fermented warm, as Ecliptic has done with other Cold IPA beers they have made. A heavy dry hop includes Nectaron, Citra, and Idaho 7, creating a citrusy and tropical fruit flavor profile. The beer finishes dry and crisp, as is expected in the Cold IPA style.

“This is the third collaboration we have done with Fort George”, says Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris. “I think they make super beer, and I am excited to work with Chris and his team. At our first meeting, Chris proclaimed ‘let’s make a big, Black IPA!’ After mulling around with some ideas, I came up with making it in the ‘cold IPA’ style.” John continues, “As far as we know, this is the first Black Cold IPA ever made. Black IPA was a popular style back around 2012-13. We think it is time to make a tasty beer with black color, a touch of roast, and a big bold citrus and tropical dry hop character.”

Ecliptic + Fort George Black Cold IPA will be released in 16-ounce cans and draft throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network on January 18th. There is a release event scheduled the same day, starting at the Moon Room at 5pm. Visit Ecliptic’s website or Facebook event page for up-to-date details.

Ecliptic + Fort George Black Cold IPA:

Brewed with our friends from Astoria’s Fort George Brewery, this Black Cold IPA is fermented with lager yeast and generously dry hopped with Idaho 7, Nectaron and Citra, bringing citrus and tropical notes. Finishing dry and crisp with a hint of roast, this beer is perfect for a chilly night of exploration in the final frontier.

Ecliptic Brewing Releasing New Hazy IPA and Re-packaging Award Winning Porter

January 10, 2023 by Spencer Mapes

PORTLAND, Oregon – Ecliptic Brewing is transitioning from 16-ounce canned four packs to 12-ounce canned six packs. Part of Ecliptic’s All The Time Series – will make a package shift at 12-ounce cans and draft. Additionally, long-standing Capella Porter and new release, Parsec Grapefruit Hazy IPA will be available in 12-ounce six packs and begin shipping January 11th.

Parsec Grapefruit Hazy IPA is brewed with Pale, Wheat and Carapils malt, along with oats. Apollo, Cashmere, Citra, and Chinook hops help create a fruity flavor, while real grapefruit packs a citrus punch. The beer joins Ecliptic’s Seasonal Series lineup, with fan-favorite Flamingo Planet Guava Blonde Ale, Cloud Core Hazy Pale Ale, and Ice Giant Cold IPA. It will be available until mid-April.

“Sometimes we like to mix up the offerings in our Seasonal Series and keep it fresh! We think a fruited hazy will do well in this lineup.” Says Ecliptic’s Owner and Brewmaster, John Harris,

In regards to the Capella Porter package change, John says, “We’ve been making this beer since we opened in 2013, and it has a great following. Capella has won many awards – from World Beer Cup to the Oregon Beer Awards. There are not many porters in 12-ounce cans, so I think this change will make it more consumer friendly.”

Parsec Grapefruit Hazy IPA will be released in both draft and 12-ounce cans throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network on January 11th. Capella Porter will begin making its transition to 12-ounce cans at the same time. Visit Ecliptic’s website for up-to-date details on potential release events.
