Lone Tree Brewing in Lone Tree, Colorado – Morgan Forsyth, Colorado Craft Beer Promoter
For owners John Winter and Jason Wiedmaier, having a central location was the key factor in deciding where to open a brewery back in 2011. And it seems as though they hit it right on the spot by opening up in Lone Tree, Colorado. Being on the outskirts of Denver, it is not an area that is overpowered by the microbrewery craze.
When the brewery first opened, they only had seven, 7 barrel fermenters. Currently, there are five 7 barrels, eight 20 barrels, and two 30 barrel fermenters in house. The growth this brewery has had within the past 3 years is phenomenal. Within one year of being open, Lone Tree Brewing started bottling and distributing. As of April 2014, they began to can and distribute 6-packs.
The biggest part of the brewery is their sense of community and regular customers. When John and Jason began developing this company, they wanted to have a “neighborhood feel” to the brewery and connect with their local customers. And they did just that – being open for 3 years, Lone Tree Brewing has created a neighborhood gathering spot for craft beer lovers in the suburbs of Denver.
Aside from creating a welcoming environment, Lone Tree has made it’s mark by brewing award-winning beers. At the Colorado State Fair, their Outta Range Pale Ale won the gold medal, and the Mountain Mama Helles has also won two awards.
The tasting room has also made a significant impact on their community by donating a portion of each month’s sales to a local charity, which is picked by the employees every month.
Lone Tree Brewing has been striving to create great beer that is true to style, while sticking to their neighborhood roots. With all of the progress this brewery has made in the past three years, I would highly recommend stopping in and trying their beers while meeting the regulars and the friendly staff!
