Rahr Brewing Partners with Lakewood Brewing to Expand Production in North Texas

June 28, 2026 by Dow Scoggins

Rahr Brewing and Lakewood Brewing
DALLAS (June 2026)
— Rahr Brewing of Fort Worth and Lakewood Brewing of Dallas have announced an exciting new contract brewing partnership. The collaboration will increase production capacity for select Rahr brands to meet growing demand in the Dallas area, while both breweries continue operating their own facilities in North Texas.

Under the agreement, Lakewood Brewing will produce certain Rahr beers at its Dallas brewery. As a result, Rahr beers will now be available on tap at the Lakewood Brewing taproom, giving fans easier access to both brands in one location. The partnership highlights a strong commitment to growing the Texas craft beer scene through collaboration rather than competition.

Two Texas Craft Beer Pioneers Join Forces

This partnership unites two of North Texas’ most respected breweries, both known for quality, innovation, and community involvement. Rahr Brewing, a pioneer of the regional craft movement, and Lakewood Brewing, recognized for its creative and consistent beers, share a deep passion for the future of Texas craft beer.
“This partnership is built on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared belief in the future of Texas craft beer,” said Fritz Rahr, Founder of Rahr Brewing. “Together, we can continue to innovate while honoring the traditions that have made both of our breweries successful.”

Lakewood Brewing Founder Wim Bens added, “Rahr Brewing has long been a cornerstone of the North Texas brewing community. We are excited to produce some of their brands here at our brewery.”

What Beer Lovers Can Expect

The collaboration will maintain the unique identities of both breweries while opening the door for future joint projects, special releases, community events, and initiatives celebrating North Texas craft beer culture. Fans can look forward to more great beer, easier access, and exciting new experiences across the region.
As the craft beer industry evolves, Rahr Brewing and Lakewood Brewing remain dedicated to quality, innovation, and the loyal communities that have supported them for years.

About Rahr Brewing

Rahr Brewing (officially Rahr & Sons Brewing Company) was founded in 2004 in Fort Worth, Texas, by Frederick “Fritz” Rahr and his wife Erin. A member of a family with deep brewing roots dating back to 1847 in Wisconsin, Fritz left a career in rail freight sales to pursue his vision of bringing quality craft beer to North Texas. The brewery opened in a warehouse on the Near Southside of Fort Worth with strong support from family, friends, and the local community. Early years were challenging — including the economic downturn and a devastating 2010 winter storm that damaged the facility — but Fritz’s determination and the brewery’s resilience helped it survive and grow.

Over two decades, Rahr Brewing has become one of the pioneering and largest craft breweries in North Texas, expanding production capacity significantly while earning numerous awards for beers like The Regulator, Stormcloud IPA, and The Fort Worth. The brewery has served as a training ground for many local brewers and remains deeply committed to community involvement. As it celebrates 20+ years, Rahr is preparing for its next chapter with plans to relocate to a larger facility while continuing to honor its family legacy and the spirit of Texas craft beer.

About Lakewood Brewing

Lakewood Brewing Company was founded by Wim Bens in 2011–2012 in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas. Born in Belgium — a country renowned for its rich brewing tradition — Bens moved to Texas as a child and developed a passion for homebrewing in the early 2000s. After extensive planning, he converted a former warehouse into a brewery and sold the first keg of beer on August 4, 2012. What began as a family-owned operation quickly gained a loyal following thanks to innovative and approachable beers, most notably the iconic Temptress Imperial Milk Stout, which started as a garage brew in 2010 and has since become one of Texas’ best-selling craft stouts.

Over the past 13+ years, Lakewood has grown into one of North Texas’ most respected independent craft breweries. The company expanded its Garland facility with additional brewing capacity and a popular taproom and beer garden. Known for a diverse lineup that blends Belgian-inspired techniques with creative American styles, Lakewood has become a cornerstone of the DFW craft beer scene. The brewery continues to emphasize quality, community, and fun while also offering contract production services, all while remaining family-owned and fiercely independent.
