Colorado Pint Day 2026: Grab Your Dino-Themed Pint & Toast Colorado’s 150th + America’s 250th!

February 2, 2026 by Dow Scoggins

DENVER (February 2, 2026) — Get ready to raise a glass! The Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG) is bringing back the state’s favorite craft beer tradition: Colorado Pint Day returns on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 — and this year it’s celebrating two massive birthdays: Colorado’s 150th and the United States’ 250th!

Every spring, beer lovers across the Centennial State line up at their favorite local breweries to snag one of the most coveted collectibles in Colorado craft beer: the limited-edition Colorado Pint Day glass. It’s not just a pint glass — it’s a keepsake, a conversation starter, and a tasty way to support the independent breweries that make Colorado the State of Craft Beer.
Here’s the best part: for every glass sold, $1 goes straight to the Colorado Brewers Guild to help advocate for, educate about, and champion the state’s 400+ independent craft breweries.

This year’s glass design is pure fun — and it’s winning hearts already. The 2026 Pint Day Artist of the Year is Denver-based doodle master Joe Palec, whose wild, prehistoric party scene features hopping dinosaurs crashing a classic Rocky Mountain bash. Think Jurassic vibes meets hoppy Colorado flair — campy, colorful, and 100% Colorado.

“Winning this contest is a total dream — it’s the perfect mash-up of my two favorite things: art and beer!” said Palec. “I can’t wait to see people sipping from a glass I designed. That moment when someone spots all the little hidden details? That’s the good stuff.”

A Milwaukee native (aka Brew City royalty) who’s been rocking the Denver art scene for 15 years, Palec’s “extreme doodles” have popped up on murals, packaging, apparel, immersive galleries, and more. Friends at Renegade Brewing nudged him to enter the CBG’s annual art competition — and thank goodness they did.
“I wanted this glass to feel like the back of a cereal box — something you keep staring at while you’re belly-up to the bar, finding new dinosaurs and details every time,” Palec explained. “It’s meant to look awesome and make you smile.”
Full artist statement and more design details are live now at coloradobeer.org/colorado-pint-day.

Mark your calendars:

When: Wednesday, April 29, 2026
What: Limited-edition Colorado Pint Day 2026 collectible glass

The full list of participating Colorado breweries will drop in late March — stay tuned!

About the Colorado Brewers Guild
Raise a frosty pint to the Colorado Brewers Guild, the hoppy heroes who cracked open in 1995 right in Boulder! Born from a spirited group of craft brewers tired of watching their sudsy dreams get watered down, the Guild was founded to promote and protect Colorado’s booming beer scene. Back then, the state was already bubbling with 56 breweries—the most since the gold rush days of 1875—and these trailblazers quickly scored their first big win in 1996 by fighting off a restrictive bill and securing a much tastier 60,000-barrel cap for brewpubs. Talk about a heady victory!

Today, the Colorado Brewers Guild is the frothy force behind what we all know as the State of Craft Beer. As a nonprofit trade association, they advocate, educate, and rally the state’s 400+ independent breweries, helping them innovate, thrive, and throw legendary events that keep the good vibes flowing. From lobbying for beer-friendly laws to building a tight-knit brewing community, the Guild keeps Colorado’s craft scene lager than life—one delicious, community-driven pint at a time!

Visit coloradobeer.org for events, membership info, and more.

Cheers to Colorado craft beer — see you on April 29th! 🍻🦖

Depot Brewing Company: Reviving History One Pint at a Time in Morrow, Ohio

February 2, 2026 by Dow Scoggins

Depot Brewing Company: Reviving History One Pint at a Time in Morrow, Ohio
Nestled in the quaint village of Morrow, Ohio, Depot Brewing Company stands as a testament to the seamless blend of historical preservation and modern craft brewing. Housed in the village’s oldest building—a former railroad depot dating back to the mid-19th century—this brewery has quickly become a community hub since its opening in 2025. Founded by local residents Scott and Ashley Tilford, the establishment not only serves up innovative beers but also honors the rich heritage of its location, drawing visitors to Main Street and revitalizing the area.

The History of Depot Brewing Company
Depot Brewing Company’s story begins with a vision to transform a dormant piece of Morrow’s past into a vibrant gathering place. Scott Tilford, who playfully titles himself the “chief conductor,” and his wife Ashley, both longtime Morrow residents, saw potential in the historic train depot that had sat largely unused for years. The couple founded the brewery as a family affair, aiming to create a space where tradition meets modernity. After months of renovation that preserved the building’s original charm, the brewery held its grand opening on July 12, 2025.

The Tilfords’ mission is clear: to connect Morrow’s storied past with its promising future. Inspired by the depot’s role as a historical connector for travelers and goods, the brewery aspires to be a “beacon of connection” for the community and neighboring areas. Head brewer Taylor Dent collaborates closely with the owners to craft small-batch beers that reflect local history, ensuring each sip tells a story. Since opening, Depot Brewing has attracted locals and tourists alike, boosting foot traffic in Morrow and earning praise for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to the village’s revitalization.

The Owners: Scott and Ashley Tilford
At the helm of Depot Brewing Company are Scott and Ashley Tilford, a husband-and-wife team deeply rooted in Morrow. Scott, the primary owner and self-proclaimed chief conductor, brings a passion for history and hospitality to the venture. He emphasizes exceptional service and community engagement, often sharing anecdotes about the depot’s past with patrons. Ashley complements this with her focus on creating a family-friendly environment, making the brewery a place for all ages to enjoy.

The Tilfords’ personal touch is evident throughout the operation. Tragically, the brewery’s founding was tinged with loss; Scott’s father, Mike, passed away on October 3, 2023, just as plans were taking shape. This inspired one of their signature beers, turning personal remembrance into a communal celebration. Their dedication has turned the brewery into more than a business—it’s a labor of love that honors family, history, and the tight-knit spirit of Morrow.

The Beers: A Toast to Morrow’s Heritage
Depot Brewing Company specializes in small-batch brews, each crafted to evoke the essence of Morrow’s history, from its railroad roots to iconic figures and events. The lineup is creative and thematic, with names that pay homage to the town’s past while delivering bold, flavorful profiles. Head brewer Taylor Dent ensures quality and variety, often collaborating with local ingredients and inspirations.

Here are some standout offerings from their current selection:

Lincoln Wuz Here (Lager): This rich, full-bodied lager commemorates Abraham Lincoln’s visit to the Morrow train station. It features malty earthy tones with a subtle sweetness, symbolizing strength, resilience, and camaraderie. It’s a fitting tribute to the 16th president’s enduring legacy and the town’s proud history.

49 Lots American IPA: 49 Lots IPA is not just a beer; it’s a storyteller, a homage to the foundations of our great town. Named after the original 49 lots that were platted as Morrow in 1845, 49 Lots IPA aims to evoke a sense of history, community, and anticipation.

Two Tracks Pilsner: A nod to the two railroad lines that once crisscrossed Morrow, this crisp, refreshing pilsner highlights clean flavors and a light body, perfect for casual sipping.

Ghosts Among Us Double IPA: Drawing on local lore and the “ghosts” of Morrow’s historical figures, this potent double IPA packs intense hop aromas and a robust bitterness, appealing to those seeking a stronger brew.

In addition to these core beers, the brewery offers a rotating selection of craft cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic options, ensuring something for everyone. Food trucks and partnerships with local vendors complement the drinks, making Depot Brewing a full destination experience.

The History of the Railroad Station
The building that now houses Depot Brewing Company is Morrow’s historic train depot, a structure steeped in over 180 years of Ohio’s transportation legacy. Constructed around 1840, it served as a key stop on the Little Miami Railroad, one of the state’s earliest rail lines. Work on the railroad began in 1837 under the direction of Jeremiah Morrow, Ohio’s former governor and the railway’s first president (and the village’s namesake). By 1844, the line had reached Morrow, facilitating the transport of goods and passengers and spurring the town’s growth.

The depot’s early days saw it function not just as a passenger station but also as a freight depot, warehouse, and general store—making it a central hub for commerce. In 1853, a second line, known as the “Sheepskin Line,” was added, running from Morrow to Zanesville and further expanding connectivity.

One of the depot’s most famous moments came during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. Lincoln reportedly passed through Morrow on a train journey, an event that has become local legend and is commemorated in the brewery’s decor and beer names. The building witnessed the evolution of rail travel through the Civil War era and beyond, surviving floods, economic shifts, and the decline of passenger rail in the 20th century.

By the early 2000s, the depot had fallen into disuse, but community efforts preserved it as Morrow’s oldest standing structure. The Tilfords’ renovation in 2024-2025 breathed new life into it, maintaining original features like wooden beams and rail-era artifacts while adding modern brewing equipment. Today, it’s not just a brewery but a living museum, where visitors can sip a beer amid echoes of locomotives and presidential whistles.

Depot Brewing Company exemplifies how history can fuel innovation. Whether you’re a beer enthusiast, history buff, or simply seeking a cozy spot in Warren County, this Morrow gem invites you to hop aboard and experience the journey. As Scott Tilford says, it’s about connecting the past to a brighter “toMorrow.”

Stone Brewing’s 30th Anniversary : A Zany, Hop-Fueled Journey from Rebel Warehouse to Craft Beer Legend

January 31, 2026 by Dow Scoggins

From those scrappy beginnings, Stone’s history is pure zany rebellion. In 1996, when distributors wouldn’t touch craft beer, Greg Koch and Steve Wagner bought their own van (an Aerostar, no less!) and started hauling kegs from multiple small breweries to bars and stores themselves—literally building the distribution network that fueled the craft explosion. They grew fast: moving to a state-of-the-art Escondido facility in 2006, adding solar power and eco-friendly practices (like turning spent grain into animal feed), opening an East Coast spot in Richmond, VA in 2016, and even briefly running a Berlin brewery. Through it all, the gargoyle stood guard over epic, no-compromise brews like Stone Ruination IPA (a double IPA monster), Double Bastard Ale, Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine. Classics like Stone Delicious IPA (juicy, crushable citrus bomb) and fun experiments like Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager kept the party going. Stone didn’t just brew beer—they waged war on boring brews with attitude, innovation, and a healthy dose of arrogance.

Now, in 2026, Stone Brewing is throwing the ultimate bash for its 30th anniversary, toasting three decades of passion, collaboration, and kick-ass beer. The year-long celebration kicks off with special gold packaging on flagship Stone IPA, plus the 30th Anniversary Sweepstakes—grand prizes include epic San Diego trips with behind-the-scenes brewery tours, brewer hangouts, and meals at both Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens spots (Escondido and Liberty Station). First-place winners snag $500 merch bundles. Enter now and cross your fingers!

True to Stone’s collaborative spirit (remember that DIY distribution van?), 2026 brings a slew of collabs with old and new friends—most on draft at Stone spots, with one big San Diego partnership hitting shelves in 16oz six-packs this summer. They’re dusting off the archives too: limited rebrews and small-batch releases available only at Stone locations, including fan-faves like Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous IPA, Stone Ruination IPA, Stone Imperial Stout, and Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine. Draft-only gems feature the original Stone Pale Ale, Stone Mocha IPA, and a mind-blowing fresh-hop Ruination made with hops picked at dawn in Washington, flown same-day to San Diego, and brewed immediately for peak freshness. Nostalgia meets next-level execution at every taproom visit.

The grand finale? A late-summer 30th Anniversary Celebration festival packed with invitational guest breweries, fresh innovations, classic Stone pours, live entertainment, and ticket prices straight out of 1996 for that old-school vibe. Follow @StoneBrewing on Instagram for weekly throwbacks, release drops, and surprises all year.

As CEO Zach Keeling puts it, this milestone honors the fans, team, and partners who’ve built Stone’s greatness. From a single Aerostar van to a craft empire, Stone Brewing’s zany, bold history proves one thing: greatness is built on a foundation of hops, heart, and a little arrogance. Raise a Stone IPA (or an Arrogant Bastard) to 30 years of protecting palates from boring beer—here’s to many more!

Enter Stone’s Ultimate Brewery Experience Sweepstakes!
The year kicks off by spotlighting the iconic brewery’s flagship Stone IPA with limited-time gold packaging and a 30th Anniversary Sweepstakes. Grand Prize winners will be selected in May and September for a trip to San Diego including behind the scenes brewery experiences with Stone brewers and meals at both Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens locations. Additional First Place winners will be selected to receive a merchandise bundle valued at $500. Enter to win here.

Century-Old Tile Mural Uncovered at Rhinegeist Brewery in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine

January 30, 2026 by Dow Scoggins

In the heart of Cincinnati’s historic Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, a routine facade renovation at Rhinegeist Brewery turned into an extraordinary archaeological find in late 2025. What began as peeling paint revealed a breathtaking, century-old encaustic tile mural —hidden for over 100 years beneath layers of paint applied during Prohibition. This vibrant artwork, dating to 1896, celebrates the city’s legendary brewing heritage and has quickly become a new landmark for locals and visitors alike.

The Unexpected Discovery
Rhinegeist, housed in the former Christian Moerlein Brewing Company’s bottling plant on Elm Street since 2013, was undergoing much-needed repairs and tuckpointing by Buckeye Construction & Restoration. As workers prepped the exterior walls, superintendent Vince Vickers noticed unusual colors emerging from beneath the flaking paint.

“We started pulling off more of the paint, and little by little, the century-old mural began to show itself—hidden in plain sight for decades,” Vickers recounted.

What emerged was a massive, exceptionally well-preserved mosaic composed of approximately 2,000 unique six-inch encaustic tiles. The artwork had been deliberately covered during the Prohibition era (1920–1933), when non-brewing businesses occupied the space and sought to erase any traces of its alcoholic past.

A Masterpiece by Herman Mueller
Research quickly attributed the tile mural to Herman C. Mueller, a pioneering American ceramicist who co-founded the Mosaic Tile Company in Zanesville, Ohio, in 1894. Mueller, known for his innovative dust-pressed tiles and handcrafted designs, later established the Mueller Mosaic Company in Trenton, New Jersey. His works grace prestigious collections at institutions like the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Brooklyn Museum—making this brewery exterior a rare public showcase of his talent.

The mural features a festive scene: a jovial couple in traditional German attire raising beer steins amid hop vines and barley motifs, symbolizing Cincinnati’s 19th-century German immigrant brewing culture. A flowing banner proudly declares “Moerlein’s Bottling Dept. 1896”, with the year flanked by stars and decorative flourishes. Below the main panel, restored roundels display the original Christian Moerlein logo.

One charming detail has captured hearts: a single tile forming the corner of the man’s hat was installed rotated 90 degrees—the “wrong” way—from the very beginning. This imperfection, preserved perfectly under the paint, adds a human touch to the otherwise flawless craftsmanship.

Rhinegeist’s Joyful Response
Rhinegeist CEO Adam Bankovich called the find a “complete surprise,” despite the brewery’s deep awareness of the building’s history. To honor the discovery—and that quirky misplaced tile—the team released a limited-edition pre-Prohibition-style lager named Tip of the Hat. Available on draft in the taproom, it’s a crisp, malty tribute poured alongside views of the restored mural.

The brewery has fully preserved the mosaic as part of the ongoing renovations, ensuring it remains visible to the public without altering their plans.

Echoes of Cincinnati’s Brewing Golden Age
At its peak in the late 1800s, Cincinnati was known as the “Beer Capital of the World,” with Over-the-Rhine boasting dozens of breweries driven by German immigrants. Christian Moerlein was among the most prominent, and this building served as its bottling department.

Discoveries like this underscore the neighborhood’s ongoing revival and the importance of historic preservation. As Beth Johnson, executive director of Cincinnati Preservation, noted, it’s one of the largest examples of Mueller’s tile work in the city.

If you’re in the Cincinnati area, swing by Rhinegeist on Elm Street to see this piece of living history. Grab a pint, tip your hat to the past, and marvel at how a simple renovation peeled back time itself. Prost!

More about Rhinegeist Brewery
Nestled in Cincinnati’s vibrant Over-the-Rhine neighborhood, Rhinegeist Brewery (that’s “Ghost of the Rhine” for the non-German speakers) rose from the ashes of a pre-Prohibition bottling plant once owned by the legendary Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. Founders Bob Bonder and Bryant Goulding teamed up in 2013 to resurrect the city’s historic brewing spirit, turning a cavernous, century-old space into a massive taproom that’s equal parts industrial cool and community hangout. What started with a handful of beers on opening day has exploded into one of Ohio’s craft beer powerhouses, cranking out flavorful brews that keep locals and visitors coming back for more—proving the Queen City still knows how to throw a great party in its old brewery bones.

When it comes to the good stuff, Rhinegeist’s lineup is a hop-head’s dream with something for everyone. Their flagship Truth IPA is the undisputed king—bold, juicy, piney, and stone-fruit forward, it’s been Ohio’s best-selling IPA for years and the kind of beer that turns “just one more” into a whole session. For lighter vibes, grab Franz (a crisp Märzen) or Dad (a balanced pale ale perfect for backyard hangs). At the same time, adventurous sippers love hazy options like Juicy Truth, fruited sours, or big hitters like Sabre Tooth Tiger imperial IPA. Whether you’re chasing that first-sip buzz or just want to Google “best Cincinnati brewery” and end up here, Rhinegeist keeps the good times flowing with beers that sing with flavor and zero pretension. Cheers to the ghosts that keep on brewing!
