Rincon Reservation Road Brewery will Celebrate 3rd Anniversary with Special New Berliner Beer Launch

February 5, 2023 by Dustin Scoggins

Rincon Reservation Road BrewerySan Diego, CA. – Rincon Reservation Road Brewery (3R Brewery) is celebrating its 3rd anniversary as it keeps seeing a fast growth in the craft beer universe. The brewery will present a special Berliner Weisse anniversary beer to honor its 3 years of history.

“This is a very meaningful milestone for us for so many reasons,” said Rik Mazzetti, Chairman, REDCO Board. “The number three not only represents three years of accomplishments; it is also a very special number for the indigenous population, which is why it is also part of our brand’s 3R Brewery nickname, which we’re so proud to keep building.”

3R Brewery is the first and only certified Native American owned and operated brewery on tribal land in Southern California. The company started operating in 2020 and while it is a young brand, 3R Brewery’s record of achievements clearly indicates why this craft beer brand is securing such an important position in the craft beer industry.

3R Brewery has been named one of the “12 Best New Breweries of 2021” by Hop Culture and was a recent finalist at 2022 Brewbound Pitch Slam.  Its beers can be found in North County in several big box stores, casinos, and restaurants throughout San Diego. Some of the most iconic spots where its presence is making craft beer lovers happy are the new Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, Harrah’s Resort California, Morongo, Golden Acorn, Pechanga, and even at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park.

3R Brewery is also looking forward to being included in Disney California Adventure’s Annual Wine & Food Festival 2023, as the brand keeps enticing new customers and conquering new local and national markets. Values such as a commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the company’s cultural heritage are embedded into the brand: “Our goal is to engage people with our heritage while making quality craft beer from sustainable ingredients inspired by our culture. And we’re fortunate to see that craft beer lovers are thoroughly enjoying it,” Mr. Mazzetti added.

Along with its original Valley Center location, 3R Brewery opened a tasting room in March 2022 in Ocean Beach. “This expansion made it even easier for people in San Diego, as well as tourists, to go on a beer tasting journey into Rincon Reservation Road even if they’re not on tribal land,” the company’s Chairman further observed.

About Rincon Reservation

Known as the original Californians, the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians have prevailed for over 14,000 years. In times past, our ancestors traveled along a trail of the San Luis Rey River, that ran from its headwaters located in the Warner Hot Springs area of Palomar Mountain, to its mouth at modern day Oceanside.

Tröegs Announces the Return of Hop Horizon IPA

February 4, 2023 by Dustin Scoggins

Tröegs Independent BreweryHershey, Penn. — Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the release of Hop Horizon, its seasonal IPA to usher in the spring season.

Now in its second year, Hop Horizon is an integral part of the brewery’s popular Hop Cycle line-up of seasonally rotating IPAs, which also includes favorites like Field Study and Blizzard of Hops.

This juicy IPA starts with a subtle blend of pale malts, wheat and oats. But the real essence of Hop Horizon originates from a combination of Citra, Mosaic and Sabro hops, releasing juicy waves of citrus, a hint of bubblegum and a pop of tropical fruit.

“The aroma hits you as soon as you crack a can,” says Tröegs co-founding brother and brewmaster John Trogner. “It’s like smelling a hop field in full bloom.”

Hop Horizon IPA clocks in at 6.5% ABV and is available on draft and in 12-oz. bottles and cans everywhere Tröegs beer is sold.

About Tröegs

Castle Island Launches Distribution in New Hampshire

February 4, 2023 by Dustin Scoggins

Castle IslandBOW, NH – New Hampshire beer drinkers received good news this week when Castle Island Brewing Company announced they will begin distributing their beers throughout the Granite State.

The Boston-area brewery shared news of the expansion after months of planning and discussion with their distribution partner, Amoskeag Beverages, located in Bow. Castle Island and Amoskeag had been in discussions throughout the pandemic and ultimately decided to begin selling the brand in February.

“We are extremely excited to partner up with Castle Island Brewing and bring their amazing beers to stores and restaurants all across NH,” said Amoskeag Craft Brand Manager, Bret Pollock. “The culture they have created in the beer industry is what NH craft beer drinkers are looking for: high quality beer, plenty of style offerings and consistency.”

For Castle Island, the move to New Hampshire is a strategic one. The company had an eye on New Hampshire for some time but needed a sales leader with experience selling into large chains before they felt comfortable expanding north. In 2022 Castle Island found that leader when they brought on Erica Talbot, the company’s Wholesale Director and a New Hampshire native, whose sales career spans more than a decade working for large breweries in New England and California.

“Amoskeag is a natural fit for Castle Island,” said Talbot. “They strive for world-class service for their retailers and we at Castle Island believe in creating outstanding beer that is approachable for everyone. We look forward to providing the live free or die drinkers a New England brand they can rely on.”

Castle Island is launching the state with their four top-selling brands – Keeper IPA, Fiver, Hazy IPA, White Ale, and Hi-Def Double IPA – which will be available in both 16oz cans and kegs statewide. Launch parties and sampling events are scheduled for the week of February 6th.

About Castle Island:

Castle Island is an award-winning brewery dedicated to the idea that beer should be inclusive, approachable, and excellent. Best known for their flagship Keeper IPA and charity-focused Fiver Hazy IPA, Castle Island has developed a deep bench of styles and a reputation for consistency, quality, and price. You can find Castle Island beer throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire in cans and on draft, as well as at their own brewery and taproom locations in Norwood, Mass. and South Boston, Mass.

Bay Area Brewers Guild Launches Fundraising for UC Davis Endowment with ‘This Beer Creates Opportunity’

February 4, 2023 by Dustin Scoggins

Bay Area BrewersSAN FRANCISCO, California – A limited-edition collaboration beer put out by the Bay Area Brewers Guild will be this year’s Official SF Beer Week Collaboration Release, kick-starting fundraising to help improve diversity, equity and inclusion in the craft beer industry.

Proceeds from the beer’s release, along with other contributions, will be used to establish a dedicated Guild Scholarship Endowment to be facilitated by University of California, Davis Continuing and Professional Education for the purpose of providing access to brewing education courses and brewing certificate programs.

Created by brewers from six local craft breweries, the hazy Double IPA dubbed “This Beer Creates Opportunity” will be poured at all five SF Beer Week Kick Off events. The hoppy, juicy beer will also be a highlight of celebrations from February 10 to 19 at dozens of the craft beer bars, retail outlets and restaurants hosting their own SF Beer Week festivities around the region.

DeVonne Buckingham, Director of Brewing Operations at Drake’s Brewing in San Leandro, hosted the brew day, welcoming fellow collaborators from Hella Coastal Brewing Co. of Oakland, Humble Sea Brewing Co. of Santa Cruz, Dokkaebier of Oakland, S27 Alehouse & Brewery out of San Jose and HenHouse Brewing Co. of Santa Rosa & Petaluma, all members of the Guild’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

“The brewing program at UC Davis offers one of the most respected academic approaches to brewing science in the world,” said Buckingham. “We are proud and pleased that this big, juicy collaboration brew will be an important step toward establishing this endowment. The Bay Area craft brewing scene is eager to welcome new faces and palates, and historically marginalized communities.”

The recipe for this “future focused” Hazy Double IPA was designed to express notes of passion fruit, guava, mango, lychee, citrus and fresh cut pineapple, all without the presence of actual fruits. On brew day, the team deftly employed locally developed London Tropics designer yeast strain; Bru-1, Simcoe and HBC 586 hops; and select grains, including oat, wheat and a back-to-the-future dose of California-grown heirloom malt. Among the components contributed to support the cause were ingredients and services from Berkeley Yeast, Admiral Maltings, BSG CraftBrewing, Custom Label, Barretto-Co and label designer Blanca. As this year’s Official SF Beer Week Collaboration, This Beer Creates Opportunity is the sole beer to be tapped, along with all the hyper-local special releases, at all five regional parties on February 10 and 11, in San Francisco, San Jose, San Rafael, San Leandro and Seaside as the long week gets underway. Beyond these marquee opening events, the beer will be available both on draft and in 16-ounce cans at multiple locations during beer week, including Drake’s Barrel House and Drake’s Dealership.

About the Bay Area Brewers Guild

The Bay Area Brewers Guild is a non-profit 501(c)(6) trade association whose mission is to support and promote local independent craft beer and breweries throughout the greater Bay Area.
