Roadhouse Brewing Announces Debut of Plasma Hazy IPA

March 25, 2024 by Spencer Mapes

JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming — Roadhouse Brewing is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Plasma, an innovative Hazy IPA pushing the boundaries of dankness and flavor. This 6.9% ABV brew promises an unforgettable experience for hop lovers.

Plasma’s creation involved venturing into uncharted territory, utilizing a combination of brand-new hop varieties and cutting-edge hop products. Elani, Pink and HBC 1019 hops take center stage, bursting with tropical flavors of guava, watermelon, citrus and stone fruit, complemented by subtle notes of dank herb. Salvo and Spectrum hop extracts further intensify the dry hop character without introducing bitterness, resulting in a pungently aromatic yet incredibly drinkable brew.

Notes Brewmaster Max Shafer, “For fans of our cult-favorite, The Walrus Hazy IPA (8.3% ABV), look for a similarly velvety IPA with fruit notes coming from some exciting new hops vs fresh fruit this time, and a slightly lower ABV for even easier drinkability.”

Plasma is one of the many new can designs Roadhouse is rolling out across the brand this year. What started as a ‘superdelic’ one-off label designed by co-founder Colby Cox alongside Matt Taylor, a Grammy-award-winning artist for one of his Red Hot Chili Peppers album designs, has evolved into a new look for the homegrown brand, echoing a love for music, the outdoors and its independent spirit through a cosmic, psychedelic feel, that still nods to its roots.

“The underlying ethos and guiding vision behind the Roadhouse brand has always been informed by music and the psychedelic experience. The original lineup paid tribute to that more subtly because we liked the idea of leaving a trail of bread crumbs,” says Colby Cox, owner and CEO of Pure Madness Brewery Group, Roadhouse’s parent company since acquiring Melvin Brewing in 2022. “If you get, you get it- type thing. We want to make a bolder statement with the changes to the core lineup. I want to more overtly recognize that a lot of who I am, who we are, is due to altered states of consciousness. Our creativity and innovation – it would be impossible to say we aren’t trying to touch the void. After all, we are just a “merry band of pranksters,” and it’s all about going Furthur.”

About Roadhouse Brewing Co.

Fiddlehead Brewing Company’s Team Mastermind Wraps Another Year of Community Giving

March 21, 2024 by Spencer Mapes

SHELBURNE, Vermont— With another year of successful fundraising in 2023, Fiddlehead Brewing Company’s Team Mastermind recently donated over $125,000 in grants to a diverse group of organizations supporting pediatric health and broad community wellness.

Fiddlehead Brewing Company owners, Matt and Amy Cohen, started Team Mastermind in 2015 as part of their desire to be business owners engaged in their community. Inspired by their personal journey with their son Noah, now 17, who was born with a rare medical condition, Team Mastermind is an opportunity

to give back and pay it forward. Noah has received extensive medical care, including care at multiple major hospital systems in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania and has benefited from a wide variety of services and programs for children with complex health needs. As a result, the Cohen’s understand the important impact that these services have on children, their families and their broader communities and they are committed to using their successful business as a vehicle for ongoing philanthropic support.

Funds for Team Mastermind are generated primarily through the sales of Fiddlehead’s speciality product Mastermind Double IPA. Twenty-five percent of all sales of Mastermind are donated to charity. In addition, Fiddlehead also generated funds to support their philanthropic goals through special events throughout the year such as their Almost Summer Jam event at the Shelburne Brewery in May 2023 and their Trails Take Over Event at Pico Mountain last February.

“In addition to our ongoing appreciation for the customers in Vermont and throughout our distribution footprint who have so enthusiastically embraced Mastermind the product and the mission, we are especially grateful to our various partners including our wholesale partners in each region and the many accounts that pour Mastermind, who also host local events and often match donations.” said president/owner Matt (Matty O) Cohen.

Those partnerships are also critical in determining where and how funds are distributed. “ We have worked together with our partners in each region where Fiddlehead’s Mastermind Double IPA is sold to identify a local charity in their community which aligns with our interest in supporting pediatric health and related initiatives. In addition, we have worked with accounts and with our employees to identify other special funding opportunities that are meaningful to our team, our partners and the broader community.” shared Amy Cohen.

March 21, 2024 by Spencer Mapes

HOOD RIVER, Oregon – pFriem Family Brewers, the award-winning brewery from Hood River, Oregon, is thrilled to announce the opening of a new taproom in the historic Milwaukie City Hall building. This expansion, slated for opening in April 2025, signifies a major milestone for pFriem, renowned for its exceptional craft beers and community-focused ethos.

Since its founding in 2012, pFriem has become a beacon of brewing excellence, focusing on Pacific Northwest and European beer styles. The brewery has received numerous accolades over its lifetime for its beer, but is also decorated for its Tasting Room’s service, food, and experiences as evidenced by being a four time winner of Oregon Beer Awards – Best Brewpub Experience. pFriem has built a reputation for a beer and hospitality program that is at the same time approachable, yet unique and quality-oriented.

Josh Pfriem, Brewmaster and Co-Founder of pFriem Family Brewers, expressed his excitement about the new venture: “We’re extremely excited to be growing our future here in Milwaukie. The City has been incredibly welcoming, and we hope we can play an important part in growing the local business community downtown as well as providing the community a really cool space to come together in.”

The new pFriem Milwaukie taproom, housed partially in the former fire station of the historic City Hall building, is set to be a vibrant community hub. It will feature a spacious pergola covered outdoor patio, a private dining and event space upstairs for various brewery and community events, and a lounge area reminiscent of the popular Bear’s Den in Hood River. The taproom will offer more than 20 taps, including a variety of pFriem beers and craft cocktails, with seating for over 100 guests.

Josh Pfriem explained further why Milwaukie was an ideal spot for their second location, “Over the past couple of years, many of our friends have been moving to Milwaukie and surrounding areas, and we’ve been intrigued by that region for some time now. When we first saw the old City Hall building, we knew immediately this would become our second home. It is a beautiful, unique space with a lot of history in the local community. It’s sited on a magnificent property with stunning green space, large trees, and a sculpture garden, with plenty of parking on site and in the surrounding downtown area, abundant public transportation options, all within a stone’s throw from the banks of the Willamette River. We’re excited to help energize the downtown area with our 7 day a week presence, the events that we will run in our tasting room, and in general with the creation of a warm and inviting community space.”

Neighboring with pFriem in the old City Hall building will be Keeper Coffee, which is known for its commitment to quality, community and excellent coffee. Keeper has become a favorite in their Southeast neighborhood spot since their opening in 2020, and is celebrated for their house-made pastries and espresso drinks served in antique ceramics. “We’re stoked to be neighbors with a great coffeehouse and bakery, folks who truly share our passion for quality beverages, and hospitality”, Josh said. Keeper Coffee will also be opening early Spring 2025.

pFriem Family Brewers and Keeper Coffee invite everyone to join in this exciting new chapter and experience the unique combination of craft beer, exquisite coffee, and community spirit at their new Milwaukie location.

Neshaminy Creek’s Rita’s Fruit Brews Return With New Variety Pack

February 16, 2024 by Spencer Mapes

CROYDON, Pennsylvania— After first partnering last spring, Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company (Neshaminy Creek) is thrilled to reintroduce Rita’s Fruit Brews – a line of beers inspired by the iconic Rita’s Italian Ice (Rita’s) with a brand-new Variety Pack. This limited offering will feature the classic Mango Blonde Ale, the fan favorite Peach Ring Tart Ale, and the brand-new pack exclusive, Cherry Lemonade Tart Ale. Thirsty fans will have their first chance to pick up the Rita’s Fruit Brews Variety Pack at Neshaminy Creek’s Early Spring Fling launch party on Saturday, March 2nd starting at 12pm at their brewery and taprooms in Croydon and Dublin, PA.

This seemingly unlikely partnership was born out of local pride as both companies are based in Bucks County, PA, just north of Philadelphia. Rita’s first location opened in 1984 just 10 minutes down the road from Neshaminy Creek’s production brewery while today, the Italian Ice franchise is headquartered only a little further away from the brewery in the opposite direction. Each company has become a staple in their respective fields throughout the region and a refreshing reprieve from the spring and summertime heat.

The Rita’s Fruit Brews Variety Pack will include the beer that kicked off this partnership, a Mango Blonde Ale that takes its juicy cues from Rita’s’ most popular flavor. Also included will be two tart options – Peach Ring and Cherry Lemonade. Rita’s launched a Peach Ring ice flavor last summer which inspired Neshaminy Creek to recreate that flavor in a slightly sweet, slightly sour beer. Exclusive to this Variety Pack is the new for 2024 Cherry Lemonade – another tart ale that combines two classic Italian Ice flavors. All three beers clock in at a highly sessionable 5% ABV and hit the sweet spot for craft beer drinkers looking for something fruity this spring and summer along with category newcomers who may have a nostalgic soft spot for Rita’s and are looking for an adult version to enjoy.

“Everyone has a different favorite Rita’s flavor so putting together a Rita’s Fruit Brews Variety Pack was the obvious next step in this partnership,” said Kyle Park, Director of Sales and Marketing at Neshaminy Creek. “We started getting requests for this type of thing as soon as we announced the first beer last year and I’m so glad we’re going to be able to deliver them in time for spring. We’ve had so much fun working with Rita’s, experimenting with all of their different flavors, and bringing them to life in a new way. I grew up going to Rita’s and love seeing how quickly excited people have been to reconnect with it while enjoying these beers. Having that local connection to a national company like Rita’s is just icing on the cake.”

The Rita’s Fruit Brews Variety Pack will debut in 12oz Can 12-Packs on Saturday, March 2nd at Neshaminy Creek’s Croydon and Dublin taprooms where customers will also be able to get a pint of each flavor on draft. There will also be 12oz Can 6-Packs of the Mango Blonde Ale and Peach Ring Tart Ale available for sale. The release party will feature plenty of beer, food trucks, live music, Rita’s Italian Ice, and more family-friendly entertainment.

Following the release at the brewery, the Rita’s Fruit Brews Variety Pack and Mango Blonde Ale will be available at retailers throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. Rita’s Fruit Brews will be sold alongside Neshaminy Creek’s wide variety of handcrafted ales and lagers that have made the brewery a regional staple for nearly 12 years. Interested customers can find their nearest retailer using Neshaminy Creek’s Beer Finder.

About Neshaminy Creek Brewery

Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company is an award-winning craft brewery and taproom located just north of Philadelphia in Croydon, PA. We try to spend as much time making and enjoying incredibly good beer and as little time as possible making up rules about beer! Founded in 2012, Neshaminy Creek has grown exponentially over the years and expanded distribution across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland. Neshaminy Creek opened their second location inside The Station in Dublin, PA in October 2021 and are working on opening a third taproom in Harleysville, PA that is set to open by Summer 2024. The brewery relies on their DIY ethos to make craft beer for defiant misfits like themselves! Neshaminy Creek’s goal is to make every moment someone spends with them as enjoyable as humanly possible. That’s what beer is for.
