Launch Pad Brewery in Aurora, Colorado – Craft Brewery of the Day

Launch Pad Brewery by Morgan Forsyth, Craft Beer Promoter

Aurora, CO – There is a brewery that is launching itself with an amplitude that is sure to set itself apart from the rest with their current barrel-aged lineup. In the beer industry, one of the most commonly used barrels for barrel aging beers is bourbon. While I have seen beers aged in wine barrels, it is not something you come across as frequent. Launch Pad Brewery has accumulated some incredible wine barrels from a local winery – Creekside Cellars, located in Evergreen, CO. They started their barrel project with four small wine barrels and recently added four larger barrels – and the beers they are brewing up and maturing in the barrels are far from ordinary.

Launch Pad BreweryHere’s a sneak peak of a few of the beers they are aging:

Syrah Russian Imperial Stout maturing in a Robusto barrel using syrah grape juice from the winery in the recipe.

Triple Cosmological Principle Dark Saison with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries and black cardamom aging a Robusto barrel.

Red Wine Barrel-Aged Trinity Belgian Tripel aging in a Robusto barrel.

And they haven’t limited themselves to just wine barrels. Launch Pad uses only Laws Whiskey barrels for some other experimental beers that are being aged in bourbon and rye whiskey barrels. While this brewery will be celebrating only their second anniversary this July, they are deserving of respect and attention to the beers they are producing!
