Platt Park Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado by Morgan Forsyth, Colorado Craft Beer Promoter
Not long ago, a brewery opened its doors in the heart of the Platt Park neighborhood and old Pearl Street in Denver, Colorado. Nine months later, with a name change and a Great American Beer Festival medal, Platt Park Brewing has made a solid foundation in the brewing industry.
Gump’s Lager snuck up and snagged a silver medal in the Vienna Lager category at the Great American Beer Festival, which was a huge milestone for the brewery not even being opened for one year. For many breweries, this kind of accomplishment takes years to achieve. Aside from visualizing and working towards more medals, Platt Park brewing has several upcoming endeavors to keep advancing. One of the next approaching business moves is putting in a beer engine, so the brewery will be able to do traditional English-style cask beers. Their barrel program is also on the rise – they received two barrels from Laws Whiskey House, whom now has a waiting list for breweries wanting to receive their barrels for small-batch, local connections (Laws makes the Four Grain Straight Bourbon).
The brewers are also focusing more on their current beers, so beer enthusiasts will be seeing more and more of them at festivals and competition in the forth-coming year.
Needless to say, this brewery has made an unyielding mark in the industry – and should be on everyone’s Brewery Bucket List this year!
