Mayflower Brewing in Plymouth, MA Releases Jimador Agave Lager

May 2, 2018 by Dow Scoggins

PLYMOUTH, Massachusetts — Mayflower is pleased to release Jimador, an unfiltered agave lager named in honor of Mexican Agave farmers. It is brewed with a traditional Vienna malt base with flaked maize added to the grain bill. The beer has the crisp, dry body that fans of Mexican style lagers will be used to enjoying. But the addition of the flaked maize and a massive amount of agave syrup give this refreshing beer an enjoyable underlying sweetness. A generous dose of New Zealand’s Wakatu hop shines through with its pronounced lime citrus notes, replacing the much reviled lime wedge in your beer. Jimador will be a great companion for the warm weather ahead!

“When developing Jimador we knew we wanted to make it unique to the style. Blue Agave was an easy choice with its refreshing sweetness from natural sugars. The Jimador is a centuries old profession, as is brewing crisp and refreshing Mexican lagers. This beer is a nod to that tradition, using Vienna malt and flaked maize while still incorporating the modern takes of Blue Agave and Wakatu hops – giving a nice lime citrus note to the beer. A Jimador puts skill and sweat into their work. It’s easy to imagine one enjoying this beer after a hard day harvesting Agave under a blazing sun,” said Jay Southwood, Mayflower Brewer.

Jimador is on tap today in the Mayflower tasting room at 4pm for tastings, flights, pints, and growler fills. 4 packs of 16 ounce cans will be available while they last. Jimador will be heading out into the New England market starting next week. Additionally, Mayflower’s tasting room manager Sarah Annis is excited to collaborate with local chef, Stephen Coe of SWAT Food Truck to bring you a Cinco De Mayo Celebration at the brewery on May 5th from 12-6pm. Chef Coe will be offering delicious food pairings that include buffalo chicken empanadas, pork belly tacos, chicharrones, fresh churros, crispy chipotle oyster, and shrimp quesadillas.

About Mayflower Brewing Company
