Sun King Brewery to Open Tap Room in Mishawaka

December 10, 2021 by Mike Curme

Sun King Brewery to Open Tap Room in Mishawaka

Mishawaka, Indiana – Sun King Brewery, one of the leaders of the independent craft beer movement in Indiana, is excited to announce plans to open a tap room in Mishawaka, Ind.

The tap room will be located at The Mill at Ironworks Plaza, a mixed-use residential development located adjacent to Beutter Park, on the St. Joseph River, approximately 15 minutes from South Bend, Ind., and the University of Notre Dame. The new Sun King Mishawaka Tap Room is projected to open in the summer of 2022 and will be Sun King’s sixth tap room in the state.

Once open, Sun King Mishawaka customers will be able to taste and purchase a wide variety of Sun King’s core, seasonal, specialty, barrel-aged and sour beers. Carry-out cans, growlers and kegs will also be available for purchase. The entire 5,000-square-foot facility will be family friendly for all ages, with the exception of the bar area.

Sun King is excited to bring the food hall concept to Mishawaka through a partnership with Indianapolis restaurateur Neal Brown and his company, Howe and Brown Hospitality Group, which currently operates the restaurant concepts in Sun King’s Fishers location. Smash burgers from One Trick Pony and tacos from Cholita will complement Sun King’s delicious beers inside the tap room or outside on the patio.

“Sun King’s new tap room will be an exciting addition to Mishawaka,” said Mishawaka’s Mayor David Wood. “We’re incredibly proud of the partnership between the City of Mishawaka and iconic Indiana businesses like Sun King Brewery that are fueling the growth of areas like the The Mill at Ironworks Plaza and attracting residents and visitors, alike.”

“I grew up in neighboring South Bend, and my family and friends from the area have been asking me for years when Sun King will open a location in Northern Indiana,” said Dave Colt, Sun King co-founder and owner. “We are excited to expand access to our delicious beers to our great fans up north and to be a part of the Mishawaka community and The Mill at Ironworks Plaza.”

Located at 235 Ironworks Ave. in Mishawaka, The Mill at Ironworks Plaza offers unique lifestyle and wellness amenities and retail options with strolling walkways, a German-style biergarten and extensive landscaping near the St. Joseph River.

Sun King’s Mishawaka Tap Room will be its sixth location, including the original Brewery and Tap Room in downtown Indianapolis, the Fishers Small Batch Brewery and Tap Room, the Sun King Spirits distillery and food hall in Carmel, the Tap Room at the Indianapolis International Airport and the Tap Room and Small Batch Brewery in Kokomo.

About Sun King Brewery

Sun King Brewing Company is an independently owned Indiana brewery with four tap rooms in the Indianapolis metro area. Conceived by two professional brewers, Dave Colt and Clay Robinson, and started with the help of family and friends, Sun King rolled out their first keg of beer in July of 2009. Over the years, Sun King has grown to become one of Indiana’s best-selling and most award-winning breweries. Currently available on tap and in cans throughout Indiana, Illinois, Florida, and Louisville, Ky., Sun King is a leader in the independent craft beer movement. Sun King’s brewers hand craft core, seasonal and specialty beers that have been awarded with dozens of medals at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, Festival of Barrel Aged Beers, and the Indiana Brewers Cup competitions.

Sun King takes great pride in partnering with hundreds of community organizations throughout the places where its beer is sold to help them raise awareness and funds for great causes. Each year Sun King helps these organizations raise over a million dollars through its community give backs, gift baskets and beer donations. Visit www.sunkingbrewing.com for more information.
