Stone Brewing Announces Maria Stipp as CEO

September 1, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

ESCONDIDO, California (September 1, 2020) – Today Stone Brewing, the country’s 9th largest craft brewery, announces the hire of Maria Stipp to the position of Stone Brewing CEO. Stipp will join Stone beginning September 14, 2020.

“Maria has all the qualities we were looking for in a CEO,” explained Steve Wagner, Stone Brewing co-founder & interim CEO. “She brings experience from a very well-respected brewery, and experience from outside the industry too. She lives up to our values and has long admired our revolutionary spirit. Most importantly, she’s someone co-founder Greg Koch and I are honored and excited to work with. And the latter is a must, because we’re sticking around!”

Stipp spent the past five years as CEO of Lagunitas Brewing Company. Previously, she was President of ecoATM, a company launched in Stone’s hometown of San Diego. Before ecoATM, Stipp was Executive Vice President at Activision, where she was responsible for Call of Duty and Guitar Hero, and further in the past, Miller Brewing Company and Kelloggs.

Stipp will oversee Stone’s East and West Coast brewing production facilities, two Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens locations, seven Stone Brewing Tap Room locations and distribution to all 50 states and more than 40 countries. As CEO of Stone Brewing, she will lead Stone Distributing Co., which distributes more than 40 brands of craft and specialty beverages throughout eight counties of northern and southern California. She will also hold a seat on the Stone Brewing Board of Directors.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Maria to Team Stone,” said Greg Koch, Stone Brewing co-founder & Executive Chairman. “She has experience with companies both similar and quite different than our own. We’ll no doubt benefit from her strong leadership. In addition, she is clearly passionate about the beers, the ideals and the philosophies that Stone represents. I’m excited, knowing that we’re bringing a leader on who’s already clearly one of our own. We welcome her with great enthusiasm and promise.”

Fibonacci Brewing Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

July 28, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Fibonacci Brewing Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

CINCINNATI, OH— Fibonacci Brewing Company might be the smallest brewery in the state, but that doesn’t keep them from doing big things. When COVID hit this spring, Fibonacci was the first to launch drive thru and delivery services and is still maintaining it five days a week. Like the “milkman”, Fibonacci delivers beer to all of Hamilton County and picks up empty growlers for the next refill. In addition, the brewery also has a legitimate drive thru window so customers can order online and pick up without having to come inside. Providing these services is part of what has kept this nanobrewery in business this year.

In early April, about a month after the COVID closures, Fibonacci suffered a tornado and close to $20,000 in property damages. Again this brewery did what was needed to stay open, without power, running on a generator, and without a street sign that took about 6 weeks to replace. With a tiny open sign in the window, customers were somehow able to find the drive thru and Fibonacci kept delivering orders throughout Hamilton county every day of the week. At this point, most of the damage has been repaired, but Fibonacci is still waiting on a new roof for the brewery.

During the last few months, Fibonacci has still worked to help the local community by brewing beers to support hospitality professionals, women in beer, and supporting their local community non-profits like the Alliance food pantry and after school program. Fibonacci has continued to host its monthly farmers markets to assist with food insecurity needs in Mount Healthy where there is a food desert and they are able to offer SNAP and Produce Perks benefits as well as voter registration.

According to co-owner and President Betty Bollas, “It’s been rough the last few months for small businesses, but we have also had some great support. People have left us notes of encouragement in their online orders, dropped off inspirational painted rocks, hand sewn face masks, and our staff have been right there with us and doing everything they can to help keep us going. Despite all obstacles, we are still in business and we want to celebrate that with the people who have been there with us over the last few months or over the last five years. We are feeling positive for what our future will be as we continue to build our community, brewery, and urban farm with the amazing people who support us!”

About Fibonacci Brewing Company

Named after Italian mathematician Leonardo Pisano, commonly known as Fibonacci, the brewery integrates math, science, and nature into their beer, taproom design, events, workshops and offers private event space.

July 21, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

Braxton Brewing Aquires 3 Points Urban Brewery in CincinnatiBraxton Brewing is expanding their footprint in the Greater Cincinnati area. Specifically, the Pendleton neighborhood on the east end.

They are excited to announce that they will be opening a taproom in the former 3 Points Urban Brewery. Introducing Braxton Cincinnati. A new location focused on blending every experience they have brought to life in Northern Kentucky, now across the river. With this new location, they will be able to better serve their fans in the Cincinnati area more frequently, while also becoming a part of the culture of the Over the Rhine community.

Since Braxton Brewing first began the their craft beer journey in 2015, they have witnessed the growth of the Over the Rhine area and have enjoyed spending time at a number of restaurants and bars across the river. They couldn’t be more excited to now have the opportunity to make their own space in the community, and to continue brewing beer and creating spaces that bring people together.

They are proud and excited to keep the flame burning on the brewing heritage of the Pendleton neighborhood. The future of Braxton Brewing is looking bright, and for that they are thankful. Tucker Brewing Double Dry Hopped Pilsner now on tap

July 16, 2020 by Dow Scoggins

Tucker BrewingComing to the Tucker Brewing taproom tonight, July 16th, is the release of our Double Dry Hopped Pilsner.  Tucker Brewing uses a TON of hops to dry hop this beer. Starting with their classic TKR Pilsner, they dry hopped it with German Mandarina Bavaria hops and American Eureka! hops.

You will not find this beer super bitter, but bursting with aromamatics. This pilsner is also unfiltered to ensure a massive hop aroma. The Mandarina Bavaria hops deliver a citrus note while the Eureka! hops deliver a resinous, dank note. It’s the best of both worlds. Enjoy you hopheads, you. Order a growler ahead here.

July 16, 2020 by Andrew Innes

Reuben’s Crush: Oregon Edition

SEATTLE — REUBEN’S CRUSH: OREGON EDITION is a special new offering in their Reuben’s Crush Series of hazy IPAs with a tip-of-the-cap to Oregon’s beautiful brewing ingredients. “Oregon Crush” was brewed in Washington using 100% hops and malts grown in the great state of Oregon. It features Strata hops from Indie Hops and Citra hops from Crosby Hop Farm paired with malts from County Malt, Mecca Grade, and Camas Country Mill.

“As a Northwest brewery, we’ve used different Oregon hops and malts in our beers for years, but this is the first time ever that we’ve brewed a beer with ingredients from just one state”, said Reuben’s Co-Founder and Brewmaster Adam Robbings. “Each fall we release PNW  Reuben’s Crush which features all PNW ingredients, but here we just wanted to show off the bounty and quality of the ingredients grown by our neighbors to the south in this latest release of Reuben’s Crush.”

Draft and a limited number of cans will be available at the Reuben’s Taproom and To-Go Store in Ballard beginning today at noon, and the beer will be available across Reuben’s distribution area in Oregon and Southwest Washington beginning next week.
