Oakshire Brewing Celebrates the Dark Days of February with Exclusive Beer Releases and Special Events

January 24, 2025 by Spencer Mapes

EUGENE, OR—Oakshire Brewing is thrilled to announce the return of its annual Dark Days of February, a month-long celebration of dark beers. This year, Oakshire elevates the celebration with a diverse lineup of beers and events at its taprooms in Eugene and Portland.

Dark Days of February Schedule of Events

January 31 – February 2, 2025: Dark Days of February Release Parties
Darkness descends with release parties at the Eugene Public House and the Portland Beer Hall from January 31 to February 2. Each evening will feature live music from local bands, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere to contrast the dark beers flowing from the taps. Oakshire will introduce three new beers, which will be available at its taprooms throughout February. The beers will also be available for take-home purchases, with preorders starting Friday, January 24 at 11 am, and pickup beginning Friday, January 31.

  • Hellshire XIV • 14.6% ABV • 500ml bottles
After spending a year enveloped in the darkness of freshly emptied Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels, this robust Russian Imperial Stout has emerged. It offers a smooth finish that lingers with notes of dark chocolate, cherry, and oak.
  • Dark Umbra: Black IPA • 6.8% ABV • 16oz 4-packs
This Black IPA challenges expectations, appearing like a stout but drinking like an IPA, delivering bold, hop-forward flavors without a strong roast character.
  • Overcast Café: Mexican Mocha • 8.2% ABV • 16oz 4-packs
Our love letter to one of our coffee house favorites, this luxuriously creamy and complex beer features our signature Overcast espresso blend, cinnamon, vanilla, and cacao nibs, plus a subtle kick from a few spicy peppers. The initial aroma of coffee and chocolate transitions into a smooth vanilla flavor, finishing with a pleasing spicy heat.

“Reflecting on the new releases,” Heath Barker, Lead Brewer at Oakshire, comments, “These beers showcase the breadth of our brewing talent, from the bright hoppy notes of our Dark Umbra Black IPA to the complex layers of Hellshire XIV. The brewing team is
proud of the range of flavors we’ve achieved, which reflect our dedication to crafting exceptional beers.”

February 14 – February 16, 2025: Vintage Heart Shaped Box & Chocolate Pairing
Oakshire has collaborated with Eugene’s beloved chocolatier, Davey, who has come out of retirement to create exclusive chocolates paired with our Heart Shaped Box beers. This unique pairing, perfect for sharing with someone special, will be available at both taprooms on Valentine’s Day weekend for just $20. Leading up to Valentine’s Day weekend, don’t miss the Heart Shaped Box gift box, available at the tasting rooms from February 7 – 16, adding an extra touch of barrel-aged raspberry chocolate stout to any celebration.

Megan Galbraith, Taproom Director, adds, “We look forward to this month all year and are
especially thrilled to offer not just great beer but also unique experiences. For us, February
is about welcoming everyone on dreary days with a dark beer for every palate. Celebrating
with our guests is what makes these events so special.”

February 22 – February 23, 2025: Hellshire Vertical Tasting
Oakshire will participate in Zwickelmania with a dark twist. Throughout the weekend, the taprooms will offer a vertical tasting of Hellshire X through XIV, allowing beer enthusiasts to experience the evolution of this iconic series.

Oakshire Brewing Announces Updated Plans For Third Taproom In Downtown Springfield

December 3, 2024 by Spencer Mapes

EUGENE, OR – Oakshire Brewing is excited to announce its third taproom, Oakshire Commons, will now open in a vibrant new location in Downtown Springfield. Originally planned for The Rivett Building, the taproom will now be located just four doors down at 416 Main St. in the space formerly occupied by The Pedaler. This bar and restaurant location has been a cherished part of the community and Oakshire Commons will continue creating a welcoming space for connection and craft in the heart of Springfield.

“Downtown Springfield is a special place for Oakshire and for me personally,” said Kiley Gwynn, Oakshire’s Director of Marketing and a proud Springfield resident. “We’re excited to be part of the vibrant and growing community here, and we look forward to contributing to the culture and connections that make Downtown Springfield so unique.”

The Oakshire Commons will bring together the best features of Oakshire’s current locations: the Public House in Eugene and the Beer Hall in NE Portland. It will feature Oakshire’s award-winning beers, Detroit-style pizza, and morning coffee hours, creating a welcoming gathering place for the community to enjoy at any time of day.

“We’re as committed as ever to making this space a hub for connection and creativity,” said Oakshire Founder and CEO, Jeff Althouse. “Oakshire Commons will feel both fresh and familiar, blending the craftsmanship of our beers with the warmth of community in Downtown Springfield.” Designed to complement Springfield’s rich culinary and social scene, Oakshire Commons will welcome
outside food, encouraging visitors to enjoy fare from the neighboring food carts and local favorites. Its coffee service and Detroit-style pizza will establish the Commons as a daytime destination for locals and visitors alike.

The new location will also host Oakshire Inspires events, continuing the brewery’s commitment to giving back to the community. To celebrate the opening, Oakshire Commons will host an extra special grand opening party benefitting the McKenzie Community and Land Trust and its efforts supporting the recovery from the Holiday Farm Fire, furthering Oakshire’s mission of supporting meaningful causes in the region.

Megan Gallbraith, Oakshire’s Taproom Director, emphasized the importance of community in shaping this new space: “We’re excited to bring the Oakshire experience to Springfield. Our taprooms are about more than just beer—they’re about creating welcoming spaces where people can gather, relax, and share memorable moments. It’s a chance to deepen our roots and be part of this incredible revitalization story.”

Oakshire Commons will open in early 2025. Stay tuned for updates as the team works to bring this exciting new chapter to life in the heart of Springfield.
