Our Mutual Friend Brewing Co. Celebrates Year 10 on December 10

December 2, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Our Mutual FriendDENVER, Colorado – Our Mutual Friend Brewing Co. (OMF) is celebrating ten years of brewing and slinging beer at their RiNo taproom (2810 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80205) on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

OMF, which launched in 2012, was one of the first breweries to open in RiNo. The small but mighty brewery started on a 31-gallon brew system and would later grow to a 10-barrel brew system, increasing capacity to brew styles that the brewery loves, such as lagers, saisons, and IPAs. As OMF approaches year ten this December, the intentionally-minded Denver brewery looks to 2023 with a continued focus on providing a taproom that’s comfortable and safe and producing hand-crafted and quality beer made with local ingredients.

To commemorate ten years in business, OMF will be sellinglimited edition Year 10 glassware. For the first hour that OMF is open, guests can purchase the glassware and 750-milliliter bottle of Year 10 Saison for $10; after that, beer lovers can purchase the 750-milliliter bottle for $16 and glassware for $8.

“For the Year 10 Saison I wanted to go back to some of the earliest beers I brewed and look for inspiration there. I had made some orange blossom honey saisons when I first started brewing and thought that would be an awesome place to start,” says OMF Head Brewer and Co-Owner Jan Chodkowski. “The orange blossom honey gives this beer a beautiful orange honey color as well as some cool citrus aromatics with the flavor of the beer being fruity and malt and a little spicy from the rye.”

The following anniversary beers will be available on December 10:

Year 10 Saison – brewed with orange blossom honey, Colorado pilsner, wheat and rye malt, and bottle-conditioned with the same honey. Available in 750-milliliter bottles and on draft

Stjørdalsøl – a Norwegian-Style Ale made with barley that is grown and malted by Colorado Malting Company that is then smoked over European-sourced alderwood. Available in 12-ounce cans and on draft

Berkeley Supply IPA – brewed in collaboration with Berkeley Supply Company to celebrate their 10th anniversary, this 6.3% ABV West Coast IPA is hopped with Citra, Centennial, Amarilla, Chinook and Colorado Medusa hops

Pro – the beer that started it all. This Blonde Ale is brewed with 100 percent Colorado ingredients. On Dec. 10 only, beer lovers can purchase a six-pack of Pro for $10

“We also wanted to celebrate our beer Pro for our 10 year anniversary as it’s a beer we re-worked from one of our original beers called Proletariat. Our taproom and our beer is for everybody and Pro is a beer that represents that for us. So come by and have a beer with us as we celebrate 10 years!” says Chodkowski.

All OMF anniversary special releases and specialty glassware will be available beginning Dec. 10, while supplies last. Pit Fiend will also be on deck serving up delicious fare.

West Sixth Brewing Announces New Barrel-Aged Beer Made In Collaboration With Bulleit Frontier Whiskey

December 2, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

West Sixth BrewingLEXINGTON, Kentucky – West Sixth Brewing, one of Kentucky’s largest craft breweries, has announced its third collaboration with Kentucky-based distillery, Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, on a unique barrel-aged beer for all to enjoy, just in time for the holidays.

Rye Barrel Porter is a 9.0% porter that has aged in Bulleit rye whiskey barrels. This beer features malty caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, and hints of toffee aromas. Notes of rye whiskey make Rye Barrel Porter a complex, yet quaffable, barrel-aged beer.

“After the success of our first two collaborations with Bulleit, we were excited to dive in for the third with something new,” said Kelly Hieronymus, Marketing and Creative Director, West Sixth Brewing. “Rye Barrel Porter and this partnership emphasizes West Sixth’s commitment to making new and innovative beers.”

Both West Sixth Brewing and Bulleit Frontier Whiskey are Kentucky-based brands that are passionate about creating high-quality beverages that positively impact their community. This is their third collaboration following the release of Bourbon Barrel Brownie in 2021, and a vanilla offering of the same beer in May of 2022.

“We are thrilled to continue working with West Sixth as part of our Bulleit & Beer Program,” said Sophie Kelly, SVP of North American Whiskeys. “Now in its third evolution, this partnership continues to pioneer Bulleit’s commitment to local collaborations that focus on positive environmental impact, and unique experiences for customers.”

In an increasingly competitive climate, it is important for craft breweries and distilleries to find distinct ways to stand out to consumers that are constantly seeking new flavor experiences. With this third limited collaboration under their belts, West Sixth and Bulleit are pioneering a standout experience for Kentucky consumers.

Rye Barrel Porter will be available starting Monday, November 14th in select distribution throughout the state of Kentucky, including on draft and to-go in the West Sixth taprooms in Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort & Newport. More at www.westsixth.com/ryebarrelporter

DSSOLVR Announces Durham Taproom

December 1, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

DSSOLVRDurham, N.C. — Asheville-based brewery DSSOLVR is thrilled to announce its second taproom, opening in downtown Durham, North Carolina in 2023. The Atlas Building on Rigsbee Ave will be home to DSSOLVR’s first taproom outside of Asheville, with plans to begin construction on the 2,500 square foot space in early 2023 and a projected opening date later in the year.

The opportunity to expand DSSOLVR’s brand into Durham’s growing and diverse market is an exciting progression for the company, which has cultivated the Triangle area as one of its primary areas of distribution focus since opening in 2019.

“We love the Triangle, and Durham in particular,” explains {Vince or Mike, DSSOLVR co-founder.} “It’s not just a market that seems to really like our beers, it’s also a community that we feel shares a lot of parallels with Asheville. Our goal is for DSSOLVR Durham to be an inclusive, welcoming space that reflects the awesome people we’ve befriended in the Triangle over the years.”

DSSOLVR Durham’s offerings will closely mirror the portfolio available in its Asheville tasting room, and will maintain the company’s commitment to using locally-sourced ingredients from artisanal producers. Offerings on tap will include a wide array of fermented beverages including hazy IPAs, lagers, pub ales, fruited sours, seltzers, and hard slushies in addition to cider, wine, and mead.

The company will bring their popular and unconventional events to Durham, as well as community-driven fundraisers supporting Triangle-area non-profits. Regular donation opportunities in the taproom will be supplemented with frequent volunteer outreach events that encourage community engagement and reaffirm DSSOLVR’s commitment to leveraging its position as a gathering space to generate a positive impact in Durham, much as the company has done in Asheville.

“One of the big reasons we’re so excited about the opportunity to come to Durham is that the people seem really open and welcoming,” adds {Mike or Vince.} We want to create a space that’s a little different from the other bars and breweries around, something that feels like a natural fit with the community but still has an unmistakable DSSOLVR twist. If you’re in Durham and you want to get weird, this is the spot for you.”

About DSSOLVR

DSSOLVR is a beverage company built on the ethos of breaking down barriers, blending art and craft together into a cohesive whole. Melding the myriad interests and influences of co-founders Vince Tursi and Mike Semenec, DSSOLVR transcends the stylistic limits traditionally imposed on fermented beverages to create products as unique as the branding they wear. Unifying science, story, and psychedelia, DSSOLVR strives to deliver a beverage experience unlike any other.

Lone Tree Brewing And Resolute Brewing Present Abundant Forest, A Dark Rice Lager Collaboration

December 1, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Lone Tree BrewingCOLORADO – Lone Tree Brewing and Resolute Brewing are psyched to debut their first-ever, long time coming collaboration: Abundant Forest.

Abundant Forest is a dark lager brewed with Leopold Bros. pilsner malt, flaked rice, and chocolate malt; and hopped with German hop varietals Ariana and Callista. This easy-drinking, rich-colored lager yields notes of sweet malt, floral bouquet, and cocoa dusted raspberries. It weighs in at 6% ABV.

“The conversation about what to brew went to dark lager pretty quickly,” says Resolute Head Brewer Kyle Larkin. “Knowing this beer would be released and consumed during the colder months, we wanted a beer with a warming appearance and nose, but easy drinkability. The end result was a dark rice lager. The crew over at Lone Tree have used rice quite a bit in their beers, and it’s an ingredient we haven’t really played around with here. So we were excited to incorporate it into the recipe.”

South Metro Denver neighbors and friends for years, these two breweries were excited to finally collaborate. You can taste their creation on draft at both Resolute locations in Centennial and Arvada, and at Lone Tree Brewing in Lone Tree- all while supplies last.

ABOUT LONE TREE BREWING COMPANY

Lone Tree Brewing Company was the first brewery in Lone Tree, Colorado that opened near Park Meadows Mall in 2011. The neighborhood-focused, family-friendly brewery and tasting room regularly hosts community events that gather around a stylistically diverse lineup of flagship, seasonal, and limited release beers. Lone Tree’s cans are sold across the state of Colorado, and in select locations in Kansas. Its draft beer is poured at many bars and restaurants across its distribution footprint as well.

ABOUT RESOLUTE BREWING COMPANY

Resolute Brewing Company is in the business of uniting people by crafting and sharing happiness. The began handcrafting libations in Centennial, Colorado in 2016 to serve the metro Denver community with unrelenting dedication to classic, high quality beer styles. This resolve has since expanded into Arvada with the opening of Resolute Tap & Cellar in 2019, and across the state through distribution via Colorado Craft Distributors.
