Lone Pine Brewing Company Partners with Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy to Deliver a Unique Taste of Maine

December 5, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Lone Pine BrewingPORTLAND & GORHAM, Maine – Two iconic Maine brands have partnered for a unique collaboration that will make diehard Mainers and flavor crusaders rejoice. Lone Pine Brewing Company and Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy are proud to announce Allen’s Coffee Breakfast Stout, a milk stout brewed with the classic Allen’s coffee extract.

This is the first time that Allen’s, for many years the producer of the number one leading spirit in the state of Maine, has collaborated with a brewery. In Lone Pine, they found an ideal partner.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with Lone Pine Brewing to showcase our beloved coffee brandy in a completely new format,” said Gary Shaw, Vice President of M.S. Walker, the parent company of Allen’s. “We think this will really resonate with diehard Mainers who put Allen’s right up there with lobster and Whoopie Pies when asked about quintessential Maine flavors. Thanks to the partnership with Lone Pine, we’re excited to introduce this collaboration to a whole new generation of Mainers who enjoy craft beer and state pride.”

Lone Pine has a track record of Maine-centric, sometimes outside the box collaborations that draw increased visibility to their home state, including a long-standing series of beers brewed using donuts from Holy Donut, another Maine staple, as well as a recently released brown ale brewed in collaboration with Maine Outdoor Brands and Grandy Organics. Additionally, Lone Pine produces a craft seltzer with a percentage of proceeds that go to Sebago Clean Waters.

“This probably goes without saying, but we love our home state,” said Tom Madden, co-founder and head brewer, Lone Pine Brewing. “As we started looking over the different Maine-focused collaborations we’d done over the years, it occurred to us that we had never approached a spirits company to ask about partnering up. When we took the idea to the team, the answer from everyone was unanimous: we should see if Allen’s would be interested in working with us. I’m grateful to report that they were, and really happy with the results.”

More of these types of collaborations are expected to be seen as the beer and spirits industry continues to be incredibly competitive. Maine is often seen as one of the trend-setters in the craft beer and spirits industry. Lone Pine and Allen’s are leading the charge on what will quite likely become a trend of beer and spirits collaborations to provide new, interesting flavor experiences for consumers.

About Lone Pine Brewing Company

Lone Pine Brewing Company is a Gorham and Portland, Maine, based brewery focusing on American ales and small batch specialty beers that feature unique, local ingredients. Founded in 2016, Lone Pine currently operates its production facilities in Gorham, with tasting rooms in both Gorham and on Anderson Street in the East Bayside neighborhood of Portland.

The Brewers Association named Lone Pine the fourth fastest growing brewery in the nation in 2018.

About Allen’s Coffee Brandy

It’s no accident that Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy spent decades as the #1 selling spirit in the great state of Maine. A New England treasure and a true Maine tradition, Allen’s initially earned its popularity among fishermen who added a warming splash to their early morning coffee. Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy now satisfies Maine’s coffee hankerings in nearly every corner of the state. In fact, it has become a cultural rite of passage. From Kittery to Fort Kent, Allen’s is a beverage shared between generations of Mainers.

December 4, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

MigrationPORTLAND, Oregon – Migration Brewing will be releasing its popular barrel aged Frankie Imperial Stout to the local market for the 2022 holiday season. This popular winter warmer recently won a silver medal at the 2022 Oregon Beer Awards and has been aged 12 months in American Whiskey Barrels from local distillery Westward. For the first time ever, the beer will be available in 500ml bottles at local specialty shops around the Portland metro area starting in late November. Rupee Indian Beer Joins Forces with Three Iconic Maine Brands for Winter Collaboration

December 4, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Rupee Indian BeerPORTLAND, Maine – Rupee Beer, the First Indian-inspired beer to bridge the gap between world cuisine and craft brewing has joined forces with three iconic Maine based brands to celebrate diversity with an Indian inspired winter menu.

Rupee Beer is now available at Lukes Lobster, an iconic Maine seafood brand as part of their newly launched winter menu in Portland, Maine. Fans of Luke’s Lobster can find Rupee’s award-winning lager on the beer menu alongside Indian steamed Caldine Mussels sourced with local Bangs Island Mussels from Maine’s famous Casco Bay.

“We are excited to be leading the way on increasing diversity and representation within the craft brewing world in North America, which still to date remains one of the least ethnically diverse industries for minorities to operate in and find success. Rupee Beer is so much more than a lager, it is a movement to bridge the gap between Indian cuisine, culture, mainstream brewing, and collaborations such as these showcase how far places like Maine have come”

Brothers Vanit & Sumit Sharma, sons of Indian restaurateurs in the business internationally for over 45 years found themselves continually frustrated they could not find any Indian beer in Maine – the least diverse state in America where their family immigrated from the United Kingdom.

They decided to not only to create their own beer but set out to game change the food & beverage industry in a bold and diverse way. The Sharma brothers strategically partnered with global craft brewing legend Alan Pugsley, co-founder of Shipyard Brewing & several other brands, 40+ year master beer brewer, lover of Indian food as a British expat living in Maine to create Rupee Beer and re-write everything society understands about craft lager as it relates to spicy world cuisine.

Brewed with pristine quality in mind and premium rice, maize, malt, and three types of hops, Rupee Beer dismantles the traditional lager experience by lowering levels of carbonation to allow for a more comfortable and enjoyable dining experience.

About Rupee Beer

Rupee Beer was created to bridge the gap between the robust flavors of Indian cuisine and the beer industry. Designed and crafted by a world-renowned master beer brewer and award-winning Indian chef, Rupee Beer is disrupting the industry with innovation, history & culture, and is the only Indian beer to be available across select Whole Foods, Costco, & Total Wine locations. Rupee is slowed brewed to a traditional Indian recipe remaining all-natural for an unforgettably smooth taste and finish.

Atlantucky Brewing Partners with Bright Ring Foundation to Create ‘Pimp A$$ Pumpkin’ Beer

December 3, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Atlantucky BrewingAtlantucky Brewing is proud to debut its newest beer, “PimpA$$ Pumpkin,” in partnership with Bright Ring Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Georgia. With a portion of the beer’s proceeds benefiting the nonprofit, the beer will be first available during the public “Black Friday Art Show,” which will be co-hosted by the brewery and Bright Ring Foundation on Nov. 25 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 170 Northside Drive SW Suite 96.

The Pimp A$$ Pumpkin is a 5.4 percent alcohol-by-volume pumpkin ale that is the first among the brewery’s “Pie Chronicles,” a series of seasonal-flavored beers slated to be released throughout the holiday season. As part of the Pie Chronicles, the brewery will debut its sweet potato-flavored beer the week following the release of the Pimp A$$ Pumpkin.

“The Pimp A$$ Pumpkin is a seasonal brew for those who enjoy and appreciate a good harvest treat,” Bright Ring Founder Ian Daniels said. “We are excited to partner with Atlantucky and use the donated funds to open a new art gallery.”

Bright Ring assists artists and craftsmen by offering the education and tools needed to enhance earning potential; provide not-for-profit organizations the technology and education needed to identify both traditional and non-traditional income sources; and educate the public about the value of arts and crafts in culture.

Atlantucky, one of the nation’s few black-owned breweries, is owned by multi-platinum-selling, Southern hip-hop trailblazers Nappy Roots. While on tour throughout the past several years, Nappy Roots has collaborated with dozens of breweries and mass-produced numerous beers across the country. The two-time, Grammy Award-nominated group began experimenting at their home brewery, which fermented their passion for microbrewing. The name, “Atlantucky,” celebrates the band’s historical roots of being founded in Kentucky and settling in Atlanta. The brewery took home Bronze in the Cream Stout category in the 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championship.

In 2021, Nappy Roots created a docu-style reality-based television series called “40 Acres & A Brew.” The show follows Nappy Roots and friends on a road trip to craft breweries across the country. The group trades ideas and stories with fellow brewers as the hip-hop legends begin to build their own brewery from the ground up. The show won the award for “Best Episodic Short” at the 2021 Rome International Film Festival

In September, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and the Atlanta City Council officially proclaimed Sept. 16 as “Nappy Roots Day” for the brewery’s continued service to the Castleberry Hill community and the group’s contributions to Atlanta’s culture, music, art and creative community. Former Kentucky Governor Paul E. Patton previously established Sept. 16 as Nappy Roots Day in Kentucky in 2002. Nappy Roots’ ninth full-length studio album is slated to be released in the first quarter of 2023.

December 3, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Breakside BreweryBreakside Brewery, one of Oregon’s most award-winning breweries, announces that over the next four months it will release LIFE Barleywine in six variations. The first releases on November 20 and replaces Salted Caramel Stout, Breakside’s collaboration with Salt & Straw, as a core seasonal release in 22oz bottles.

Every batch of LIFE Barleywine clocks in at 9.5% ABV and will feature specialty grains from a different maltster. Breakside’s brewmaster, Ben Edmunds, selected some of the most renowned British maltsters, as well as up and coming producers from the Northwest. Each recipe is built around the nuances of the malt from the following producers, respectively:

Simpsons Malt — 5th generation maltster from Northumberland, England

Thomas Fawcett — 7th generation family maltster in West Yorkshire England, operating for more than 200 years

Crisp Malt — the 10th largest malting company in the world, established in 1870, with two facilities in England

Minch Malt — Ireland’s oldest maltster, producing malted barley that is 100% Irish origin

Bairds Malt — Malting for 199 years with facilities in Scotland and England

Skagit Valley Malt — Malting sustainably grown grain from the Pacific Northwest, based in Washington

LIFE’s color, flavor, and malt profile will vary batch to batch, matching the change of seasons. The initial release on November 20 will feature a barleywine that is autumnal in inspiration, copper in color, and toffee-forward. Closer to the Winter solstice, the next version will be darker with notes of roasted nuts and macerated raisins. As Spring approaches each subsequent brew will become progressively lighter in color with the nuances of the paler malts showing through.

The packaging for each batch of LIFE will also change colors with each release so that drinkers can easily differentiate releases. Labels feature a QR code that will send drinkers to a webpage detailing the differences between every variant’s malts and flavor profiles.

LIFE Barleywine can be found throughout Breakside’s distribution footprint on draft and in 22oz bottles.

Schlafly Beer and WellBeing Brewing Co. Announce ‘Match Day Light’ To Celebrate Soccer

December 3, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Schlafly BeerST. LOUIS, Missouri – Schlafly Beer and WellBeing Brewing Co. announce the release of Match Day Light, a 35-calorie, non-alcoholic English Pale Ale, officially launching on Friday, Nov. 18. Match Day Light is a new style release from the two brewing companies, who announced a joint venture this summer. The NA craft beer celebrates St. Louis’ love of soccer through the packaging and ingredients used to brew it, and the style selection is an intentional nod to Schlafly’s flagship beer over the past 30 years.

“This new style showcases our rich history at Schlafly as well as St. Louis’ pride for soccer,” says CEO Fran Caradonna. “The English Pale Ale has been intricately linked to the sport for generations. Our brewing teams captured the authentic taste of our flagship English Pale Ale while also offering a low-calorie, non-alcoholic option, which is no small feat.”

“Match Day Light really brings our collaborative partnership to life,” says WellBeing Brewing Co. CEO Jeff Stevens. “From the can design to the taste, it delivers on the quality that craft beer drinkers expect from both brands. Both WellBeing and Schlafly also have a strong dedication to our community, and this non-alcoholic craft beer gives everyone an option to celebrate the excitement around soccer in St. Louis.”

Based on the original recipe from Schlafly Beer, the ingredients feature London yeast, Essex Chocolate malt, East Kent Golding, Northdown, and Pilgrim hops. Schlafly and WellBeing use the latest in brewing expertise and technology to create a true-to-taste brew without the alcohol.

Schlafly Beer, St. Louis’ original, independent craft brewery, and WellBeing Brewing Co., a fast-growing national non-alcoholic craft beer pioneer in St. Louis, announced a joint venture in July 2022, which allows both brands to appeal to today’s modern drinking consumer. A 2021 IWSR study found more than half (58%) of no/low alcohol consumers choose to switch between no/low alcohol and full-strength alcoholic beverages on the same occasion, while only 14% state that they do not drink alcohol at all, signaling signs of moderation and health consciousness as consumer drivers.

As partners, Schlafly Beer brewed and packaged Match Day Light and will do so for new non-alcoholic products for WellBeing. Schlafly also manages the sales and production of WellBeing NA brands, collaborating with WellBeing’s current contract brewing and distributor partners, and manages inventory, materials procurement, logistics, and sales support. WellBeing oversees product development, marketing, content, publicity, and grows its e-commerce business.

The non-alcoholic beer is available now across Schlafly’s distribution as well as Schlafly’s four brewpubs: Schlafly Tap Room in downtown St. Louis, Schlafly Bottleworks in the Maplewood neighborhood of St. Louis, Schlafly Bankside in St. Charles, MO and Schlafly Highland Squarein Highland, IL.

About WellBeing Brewing Co.

WellBeing Brewing, founded in 2018 by Jeff Stevens and Genevieve Barlow, is a nationally recognized craft brewery solely dedicated to brewing great-tasting non-alcoholic (NA) craft beers for discoverers and recoverers alike. The idea behind the brewery was born out of a personal desire by Jeff, who is 25+ years sober, to elevate the non-alcoholic social landscape after having experienced the constant disappointment of limited beverage choices available for people who don’t drink alcohol, as well as the negative stigma associated with not drinking. With two locations in St. Louis, MO and Virginia Beach, VA, WellBeing beers are brewed for anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle, is reevaluating their relationship with alcohol, or simply wants to take the night off, but still be social and feel included in the fun. WellBeing Brewing’s portfolio of craft beers are available on its website and at major retail chains throughout the USA.

Belgian Beer Brand Belgo Launches Beer Currency: Swap Any Regular Beer to Try Their Craft Beer

December 2, 2022 by Dustin Scoggins

Belgian Beer BrandBelgo, brewed in-house with fresh ingredients – some shipped straight from Belgium – provides an artisanal Belgian beer experience in Vietnam. Every beer honors the rich tradition and history of Belgian beer brewing. They even have a Belgian brew master on board to make sure every beer meets the Belgian standards. Of course, this means that the craft brews also have a craft price.

So, how can you convince a country with access to some of the cheapest beer in the world to take a chance on a more expensive brew?

Taste the difference.

The beer brand launched a vending machine that allowed users to swap regular beers for a cold Belgo beer. Beer-lovers from across the city found whatever mass market beer they could from local convenience stores and bars and flocked to the machine to finally try a quality Belgo without having to really pay for it.

“Belgo is about adding a twist”, adds Gauthier Lagasse, CEO and Co-founder of Belgo. “So, we knew that, in a market where mass market beers are widely available, we needed to honor our personality and be disruptive to get people to try our beer.”

This beer-currency vending machine was launched on Ho Chi Minh City’s most prominent walking street. Belgo also has 3 beer pubs across the city, serving their brews and authentic Belgian food for locals and expats. After the vending machine, the brand launched the promotion in their pubs, leading mass market beer drinkers right to the Belgian beer Walhalla. Patrons can walk in with any regular beer and out with a cold Belgo. But of course, the brand hopes people will stay for the Belgian Truffle Fries.

“We are a small brand, but our ambitions are large”, says Magdalena Bialasiewicz, Marketing Director at Belgo. “We believe this beer-currency platform is an excellent concept to show that we don’t need a big budget to stand out and show people Belgo’s quality.”

The promotion is an important reminder for local F&B businesses all around the world. It’s an inspiration for how, with a small budget, a local craft beer can compete for awareness with much larger multinationals. All you need is creativity and a whole lot of bravery.
