Migration Brewing Announces Barrel Aged Frankie Stout Release

PORTLAND, Oregon – Migration Brewing will be releasing its popular barrel aged Frankie Imperial Stout to the local market for the 2023 holiday season. This popular winter warmer recently won a silver medal at the 2022 Oregon Beer Awards and has been aged 12 months in American Whiskey Barrels from local distillery Westward. The beer will be available in 500ml bottles at local specialty shops around the Portland metro area starting in late November. The beer will also be available on draft and in bottles at all Migration pubs.

“This is always one of our favorite collaborations. We’ve had the pleasure to work with Westward over the past 5 years and this is the latest iteration of our partnership,” said Mike Branes, Co-Founder and Head Brewer at Migration Brewing. “We’ve been making Frankie Stout for over 10 years now and it’s developed a cult following at our pubs. We consider this to be our premier brand, and we really enjoy providing a limited release to some of our favorite beer shops,” notes Branes.

Frankie Imperial Stout is brewed to be a complex, yet smooth drinking wintertime favorite. The 2023 Frankie has huge flavors of roast, chocolate and dried fruits coming from a unique combination of an expressive English ale yeast and an American yeast used during fermentation. Frankie exhibits deep aromas of dried cherry, fruit and Belgian chocolate, and is deceptively easy to drink. Made with high-end cocoa powder exclusively from Valrhona, a premier French chocolatier, as well as cacao nibs from TCHO, an artisanal chocolate maker in San Francisco, this year’s Frankie is a truly unique offering.

Migration Announces Hello Again IPA Seasonal Release

PORTLAND, Oregon – Migration Brewing will be releasing their spring seasonal beer Hello Again IPA on April 6th to full Oregon distribution. This crushable, full-flavored, low abv IPA will be replacing the company’s Infinite Riff IPA and will be hitting the shelves at all major retailers. The beer was developed at Migration’s small batch innovation center “The Shop” and has been a pub favorite over the past 2 years.

“We’ve really enjoyed selling and drinking this beer at the pubs over the past couple years and our team is excited to bring a fun new brand to our growing distribution portfolio,” said Eric Banzer-Lausberg, Co-Founder and Sales Director at Migration Brewing. “Hello Again is the perfect springtime beer. Lots of bright, tropical flavors and a crisp finish. Everyone’s excited to share this with beer drinkers statewide,” notes Banzer-Lausberg.

Migration’s brewers have leaned into innovative recipe techniques to create a full-flavored IPA in a beer that is 4.8% abv. Inspired by the West Coast IPA, Hello Again has a lean grain bill driven by 2 Row, Vienna malts and flaked oats. The beer is bursting with hop flavor and punchy aromatics. Showcasing plentiful Idaho 7, Mosaic and Azacca hops the beer exudes tropical tones of mango and sweet tangerine coupled with a crisp finish.

Hello Again IPA, will also be available at all Migration pubs in both package and draft through the spring and summer!

Migration Brewing is the Official Beer Provider for Portland Saturday Market

PORTLAND, Oregon— Migration Brewing has opened an outdoor beer garden at the Portland Saturday Market for the third year running. As one of Oregon’s most popular tourist attractions, and the nation’s largest open-air market, the weekly event has up to 1 million annual visitors. Located on the downtown waterfront at 2 SW Natio Parkway, the local brewery will be serving up fresh, award-winning draft beer plus plenty of packaged beverage options every Saturday, starting on March 4th. The beer garden is open weekly on Saturday 11 am – 5 pm from March through December.

The project is part Migration’s pop-up program that focuses on fun, versatile craft beer experiences. “We’re really excited to be working with Saturday Market again at one of the most quintessential Portland experiences,” explains company CEO, McKean Banzer-Lausberg. “The partnership has gotten stronger every year and we look forward to a successful 2023,” states Banzer-Lausberg.

The Portland Saturday Market was founded in 1974 by Sheri Teasdale and Andrea Scharf and has since evolved into a premier maker’s market. Boasting over 180 permanent vendor stalls, the Saturday Market has 400 artists participating every year. Migration will be the sole beer vendor and will have plenty of room for people to enjoy craft beer while supporting local artists and taking in the waterfront views.

Migration Brewing Announces Maple Barleywine Release

PORTLAND, Oregon – Migration Brewing will be releasing their Maple Coronet barley wine to the market on Friday, March 3rd. This unique American barley wine is the latest limited release from the company’s burgeoning Migrator barrel aged series. The brewery partnered up with Glenna Farms out of Amery, Wisconsin to secure the organic maple syrup. Aged for six months on Heaven Hill bourbon barrels; the rich, decadent beer will be available in 500ml bottles at local specialty shops around the Portland metro area. The beer will also be available on draft and in bottles at all Migration pubs.

“We were super stoked to work with Glenna Farms on this project. They produce some of the finest organic syrup in Wisconsin and the bourbon barrels are exceptional,” said Mike Branes, Co-Founder and Head Brewer at Migration Brewing. “We’ve been pushing the brewery team to work with a wide variety of ingredients and this beer really came together over a ton of excitement to approach a classic American barleywine differently,” notes Branes.

The Maple Coronet barley wine is brewed to be a complex, and slightly sweet early springtime treat. Coming in at 11% ABV the beer is crafted on a foundation of fine English Maris Otter malt which brings a nutty richness and full roundness to the beer. Three different types of caramel malts exhibit toffee and tones of cherry, plum and raisin. Maple syrup was added during the run-off of the wort, as well as during fermentation, to provide extra sugars. The maple sweetness is not overpowering and integrates into the beer without being cloyingly sweet.

Glenna Farms was established in 1995when Rick and Kristine Glenna purchased an 80-acre maple syrup operation from Arthur V. Olson. The century old sugar bush is located next to a dairy farm, was well known for producing one of nature’s finest sweeteners, pure maple syrup.

Migration Brewing to Partner with Scout Distribution in Idaho

PORTLAND, Oregon – Migration Brewing has expanded their regional distribution reach to Idaho. This winter the Portland, OR based craft brewery entered a partnership with Scout Distributing to bring their award-winning beers to the state of Idaho. This is the latest addition to the company’s west coast distribution network that also includes Oregon, Washington, and Colorado.

“We are very excited to be working with the experienced distribution team at Scout,” said Eric Banzer-Lausberg, Co-Founder and Sales Director at Migration Brewing. “Over the past few years, we’ve been able to gain traction in several secondary markets and we’re stoked on the opportunity to expand our regional reach to Idaho,” states Banzer-Lausberg.

2022 was Migration’s largest production year to date and featured 76 different beers made plus 18 domestic and international competition accolades, including three (3) Oregon Beer Awards. As part of a continued growth strategy, the emerging regional brand is excited to work with Scout Distributing in Idaho. “Scout has a great reputation for their customer service mindset and for building brands. They’ve also done an amazing job putting together an awesome craft beer portfolio that we’re excited to be a part of,” explains Banzer-Lausberg.

Migration has already sent their first shipment of draft kegs and packaged products to Idaho, and they look forward to supporting the local market in 2023.
